Disgraceful that Mr Patch's funeral was so far down the news that day. His message was a powerful one and the sacrifice and suffering of his peers that he represented with such dignity is one that I am eternally grateful for. May you find peace now you have rejoined your fallen comrades.

How wonderful that two soldiers of the French, Belgian AND German armies were in attendance. Mr. Harry Patch you should be remembered as a true example of how peace and reconciliation can happen on an individual level. For someone of my generation, having a German at my funeral would not have much meaning as I only know them as friends. For you, having seeing your comrades being killed by German bullets & artillery all around you, this took enormous courage. Peace can prevail.
