  • I don't understand how anyone can dislike this song. This extended version is fantastic!

  • at 3:43 when the pulse of a beat starts up is cool.like im not down yet, revived and going again, feel good song.

  • The orchestral part starting at 4:06 is great!

  • This song - With A Little Luck - By Paul Mc Cartney And Wings peaked at # 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart on 05-20-1978

  • god music was so simple a few years ago no nudity no aggression no violence those was the days i have to say and in my 40s

  • Unusual song from Wings and unusual that I like it. Think its their first attempt with "electronics" Normally I hate synthesizer in songs, but maybe good musicians can do anything well?

  • I guess I was born with a little luck ... Could use some more! Lol

  • '78 very good year for music and lots of other stuff

  • I always thought the beginning of this song sounded like it was actually ending. I also never knew if they were saying with a little "luck" or with a little "love".

Thanks much for posting this longer version also.

  • 1 dislike? Someone needs a little luck.

  • I was born during the week that this was a #1 single ha :)

  • @ColleenAR2 Facebook brought me here, too!

  • @rglass78 Me too was hoping for a better song.

  • Me retrea a mi infancia. Algo especial tiene esta canción, no lo sé. Tal vez ya está en mi ADN.

  • I get really pissed off when I hear the short version. Editing this masterpiece is a crime.

  • @hilsd2643 i agree with you this version is much better, i love the little part from 3:14 to 3:40 that doesnt apear in the short version

  • One person has no luck!

  • @Crazyworld1975 hahaha so true

  • Thank you for uploading the extended version! Truly appreciated!

  • Though I love this song in whole, my favorite single section is between 3:35 & 4:01.

  • @r5t6y12 I totally agree!

  • @MoosicandCritters,

And here's something that I discovered just a few months ago: I had to turn up the volume on my CD player to hear it...but...there is a BASS LINE arpeggio type thingie in the DEEP BACKGROUND between 3:42 & 3:48. You might not be able to hear it in here (unless you can amplify the sound a little bit) but there is something there.

  • Yeah,

For a good number of songs that were recorded in the 1970's there was an air of sweetness and love and peace.

As I listen to some of these songs I think that the biggest factor in their success was the sweetnes of tones that were able to be produced in the synthesizers and effect boxes of those days.

Those instruments are still around but the magic in their voices is no longer in the abilities of current music makers.

  • Jammin' in my Geo, going to Pizza Hut. That's where this song takes me. Thanks for uploading!

  • Wouldve been a Beatles song if....

  • Thanks for posting the full album version...I usually like the extended version better. Wings best song, I think

  • Wow, this song brings me back to my Field Day May 1978 when I was in sixth grade! I love this song! It is so soothing...I want to go back to Spring '78...when the "Willow turns its back in inclement weather".

  • Life is Beautiful but the day's go by fast. With God's Love and Blessings, an equal measure of Faith and wisdom and A Little Luck we can all make as far as our dreams and hard work can carry us, keep on heading for the Light. Peace Koz07.

  • One of Paul's best.

  • love this thanks

  • to the 1 who 'disliked' -there's 1 in ev'ry crowd! ;)

  • ty ive been looking for this version of this song absolutly love it

  • i was in boston summer 78 great memories

  • wou i was in boston summer 78 great moments

  • Linda was a photoghraper when she knew Paul, I wonder how she learn so fast to play a musical instrument or she already knew how? Rip such a beautiful person , always love her !!!

  • I LOVE IT I CANT STOP LISTENING TO IT,,LOVE IT ,,PAUL YOUR THE BEST

  • i like this song with long version

  • I thought this song was pretty good when it came out. But over the years it's become one of my very favorite McCartney songs. It's got a sweet mood of peace and harmony, and relentless optimism. I think it's one of his best. And since Paul is the most successful musician in history, that's saying something.

  • I was born in 1966, and as someone GLUED to the FM radio, I heard this all the time in those days, but I never really took to it, it's one of those FLASH BACK time machine tracks for sure. I'd basically forgotten about it but I do like it still

  • @MetallicBill

we're the same age, but I have more of a connection with this song. besides becoming a Beatlemaniac not too long after this one came out, there were a couple of times when this mellow, kinda moody one hit the spot.

  • @wrw6600 I'm more a Zep, Who and Stones fan, but this song REALLY does take me back to those days, just learning about all the music culture to that point in time, amazing, heady stuff!!

  • @wrw6600

    I like it too!

    ;)

  • This was the first song of a different sounding Paul MCCartney. A lot of Wings & Beatles fans hated this style change by Paul McCartney. But these ignorant idiots forget that Steve Miller Band was doing to same thing to rock music with Threshold-Jet Airliner. People were catching onto Klaus Shultz and Jean Michel Jarre sound by the late 1970s. These same people forget the 1950s and early 1960s generation hated their mid 1960s to mid 1970s hard rock redneck hippy movement music sound.

  • @BBQFanNo1 I think it's only a backlash to the DISCO movement in this period, The transitions were more defined by 1980

  • Extended album version recorded in August 1977.

  • Hey tiptop I'm with you I too wish i was akid again ...... Heady days aye an amazing time We never thought it would come to an end never saw it coming WOW They WERE the best Paul linda and Denny the founders of ""WINGS""

  • @fromstonburger

    yep...agree100%!

  • like tiptop 718 said...songs like tis make me wish i were a kid again, the best times the best music...ahhhh.

  • too bad lindia mcCcartey pass away her voice live long time

  • Wings hit #1 in Billboard, 5-20-78. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx!

  • long verson is better yaaaaa

  • First true #1 hit of 1978 that had absolutely no Bee Gees involvement. Also ended the Bee Gees 4 month reign at the the top.

  • I think I hear With a Little Luck by Wings in here being sampled. Hmm...

  • Wow... what memories... such an up and positive music about just believing and doing it!

  • love this song..specially the synth..then the break..WOW!...takes me back to 1978 it was also my 1st year of high school age 13..Was this song played over the closing credits of a film titled 'Sunburn' released around 1980?.

  • @MrTevB Yes, it was. I remember flipping on the TV back in the late 80s/early 90s and the closing credits of Sunburn were on with this playing over them. At that point I hadn't heard this song in years. I always loved it as a little kid (it was #1 in the US on my 4th birthday), but it wasn't exactly a staple of radio playlists in the 80s and so I was happy to have it turn up.

  • @superbuick thank you! I was pretty sure of it but not entirely..it's a terrific song!

  • I was feeling kind of heavy hearted today, and looking for an urgent way to stop myself from quickly falling into depression. I tried to think of half a dozen songs that might get myself into a better mood, and this was one of them...

  • Thanks for extended version !

  • This should be the theme song to a sitcom..

  • Thanks for posting the original and better version of the classic song by Wings. It sure brings me back memories i just turned 13 then and my start of my ordinary but somewhat memorable teen years. And most of all It was no.1 in May,1978 one month after i turned 13.

  • thanks for sharing this long version. our radio station plays it once in a blue moon. nice to know i can now hear it any time i want.

  • Good song.

  • top song from one of the if not the greatest musicians...ever...

  • Good memories as a teem

  • Bless you for the longer version, in 79 i drove a 75 honda civic with no radio, we put one in with a cassette player, JOY!! i listened to this version on the Wings Greatest, I miss that tape, not so much the car, BLESS YOU TUBE!!!

  • the best Wings song ever?

  • This is a beautiful song. Paul is the greatest bass player ever, by far. Sure there are faster players, funkier players, whatever, but none with the musical genius that is McCartney.

  • This song reminds me of an airline pilot and his co- pilot trying to land a plane in inclement weather.

  • This is the BEST version of this song!! The short radio version is so incomplete and I will not listen to that one!

    Live on Sir Paul!!

  • could this be a song for the unemployed?

  • @celticsarebest Yes it is celtics absolutely without a doubt!!!!!! "we can work it out" is the anthem of the unemployed and every American who gives a care!!!!

  • @celticsarebest or a song for the celtics after a QUARTER OF A CENTURY absence from the playoffs LOL

  • We can make this whole damn thing work out.

  • My jam from 1978, thanks for posting this long version which was played the most on the radio.

  • we can make this whole damn thing work out(:

  • I hate radio edits and CD'S!!!! I miss my mono beatle albums among other things.

Remember when a DJ would play the entire B side of Abbey Road while he/she got a smoke or a cup of coffee?

Now with CD's it is "She Came In Through The Bathroom Window." and it stops.

    I feel violated. LOL

Thanks for posting this. I havent heard the whole thing in what seems like 30 years.

  • the extended version is the BEST!!! i love the instrumental in the middle near the end. So Magical, NO ONE like paul EVER!

  • Billboard's #18 song of '78. Wings' great song. God bless! RIP, the Lovely Linda!

  • With A Little Luck. We Can Help It Out, We Can Make This, God Damn Thing Work Out.

  • Thanks for posting....brings back memories of my youth...cheers!

  • Man that Rhodes and Yamaha CS-80 really capture the sound of the late 1970's.

  • Paul and John were always trying to create what the Beach Boys were doing and both groups envied and greatly appreciated each others talents. Paul came as close to making pop magic here as anything he ever did as a Beatle. This song is glorious.

  • I love this song!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is the version i like. Most radio stations dont play this version.

  • @TheZeke1974 I agree with you...I love the Beatles!!

  • @TheZeke1974 I know, right. At least Music Choice does. God bless!

  • I have played so much LP *London Town* back in 1978. I think it has always been such an underrated PMC/Wings album! This song was also a big hit in Belgium, but I cannot remember if it was the short or the long version. Fantastic keyboards used for that time being.

  • Wish more stations would play this version is a google times better than the radio version.

  • @waggeo99 Do you mean Googol? ;)

  • This is my favorite of Paul McGartney & The Wings .Five Stars rating.....=)

  • this song makes me proud to be alive

  • the shorter version just kills the whole song, as does the shorter version of "Silly Love Songs".......

  • Sheer magic.....thank you for posting.

    Smile away,

    Joe.

  • this must have been one of the first e-ps????

  • Man,alive.I love THIS version better than the "shortened" version. And it's one of (if not) Paul's best work outside of the Beatles.Well, most songs when he was with Wings were just as good, too.

    BTW:RIP Linda.

  • THE BEST WINGS SONG/VERSION EVER...I JAM THIS WHEN I FLY AROUND URANUS!!!lol

  • melody master.

  • This is the version taken from the Wings Album London Town, and is way better then the edited version most of the radio satations play,

  • Hard to find full version....the best with the synthesizer break in the middle of the song.

Paul laid down some magic the day he recorded this.

  • Thanks for uploading/creating. There used to be an extended version on youtube. glad it's "back."

  • Great great song. Kinda takes you back to that time. Sweet.

  • I don't remember the pitch variation being so harsh. They must have stretched the tapes something shocking. This was 77? 78? Musta been Macca's punk thread. Better than Old Siam Sir.

  • Didnt the one cute guy used to swing with him n Linda sometimes?...Thats what I read in a book about him and John.

  • Thanks for posting this...

One of Sir Paul's most underrated songs. I remember this when it was no.1 on the charts in the States in the spring of '78 and a sophomore in high school. It remains one of my favorites...so many memories...man I wish I was a kid again!

  • @tiptop713 I have that same memory, just graduated High School though....I think it was March or April....so many memories with this one! Ram on, Joe.

  • @kringles4 ;-)

  • @tiptop713 ==========SIR PAUL BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • One of Greatest MASTERPIECES ... of Sir GENIUS ! Long LIVE Sir PAUL ! RIP LINDA MCCARTNEY !

  • こっちのアルバムバージョンが好きです。

  • Hey, buck, thanx for postin' the full album version. You're the man! Hit #1 pop, #5 AC in the US (Billboard). How'd it do in the UK? God bless! RIP, Lovely Linda.

  • @DaveWollenberg Hey Dave, I think it got to number 5 in the UK. This was the first single I ever remember being bought for Xmas as a kid, so has always been one of my favourite songs. Hugely under-rated track which rarely gets played in the UK.

  • YES! This is the version that I've been looking for all along!

  • I remember listening to THIS version back in 1979. Classic!!! Much better ' feeling ' than the radio version.

  • @steelerdave2000 This is the version I remember from 1978 that played on Quad 104 WQUD Memphis. In the years after every station only played the short version.
