@deanosabbathfan probably has to do with how, the louder you hear a sound, the more you hear the bass and the treble, not the mids. try turning up the mids
Spider 3 is a nice amp. It has good clean and metal patches. I think that Valvetronix can't be worse than Spider 3 considering total clean and total gain.
Thay are just different. I sure managed to get better crunch sounds with Vox. It is more versatile than Spider 3. You can get it to a nice breakup point.
If you have money, and don't play metal, get a cheap 15W all-tube amp. There is a hell of a difference. The sound somehow becomes warm, present and alive :)
Depends what kind of metal. It can sure give heavy tones if you have high output pickups.

can you plug a mp3 in this amp for backing tracks?

@fippysteed
No.
It has only guitar input.
I think that situation is same with it's brothers:
AD30VT-XL (the one with the black grille)
AD VT30 (one with white knobs)

Yes. That one does.

Yes, I agree.
This was my rookie recording made through built-in line out, but trust me, the amp is a killer. I'd make another sample, but I'm too lazy :)
Maybe one of these days....

can it connect to a cabinet?
tiddlywinks98712 3 years ago
No, AD15-VT and AD30-VT can't.
AD-50VT and AD100-VT both have external speaker out. It is the red jack on the back.
A am not sure what's the situation with other Valvetronix series ( XL and VT) but I suppose it is the same.
How does VT comperes to AD...it seems to have more effects, but it is cheaper, how's that possible?

I've also got this amp and I think it's great! I'm also using it on my Smoke On The Water w/ Improvisation vid if you wanna have a look!
And this preset is also my favourite for metal / hard rock.

Thanx. I think it's the best for the money you give.
Its not perfect in any way, but certainly very versatile, and people say that it sounds even better at high volumes.

i got the same amp...
congratulation, i think is good stuff.
