It needs to break in a little bit. The airstone will naturally start off like like the way yours is doing, and once it becomes adjusted, you should turn down your air valve just a little bit. You want your bubbles looking like soap suds in your sink when adding dishwashing soap in the water.
My skimmer started off filtering out red slime algae stuff, where the water in the collection cup was reddish in color. Then eventually it will get other stuff out too. Just needs time to break in.
its working fine man, at least yours came with the damn airstone, i bought mine from petsmart about a week ago and it didnt have the wooden airstone with it,and they dont have replacments , and i havnt been able to find wood ones anywhere so i have to order them online.
did you get it to work right cause i just got one and i dont know how high im suppose to have the valve open do i turn it so it bubbles over or do i put it real low and eventually it will bubble over into the cup?anyone know?
your pulling trace elements ,,, what you want is like a coffee looking substance of fatty acids and protiens ,,and dont forget brother ,, if theres no dirt it cant pull the skimmer im using right now pulls about a drop every hour or so but it is dark and smelly ,,, good luck and if i can be of service any time just message me ... oh ps the slower you put your water threw the skimmer the cleaner it comes out they also well with ozone , it changes your rases your redox ,, peace
Also whenever you buy a new skimmer it takes a week or two to "break in" so to speak. I would just lower the level of your water in the skimmer a little and wait it out.
Looks good. You may want to dial it back a bit if your skimmate is lighter than ice tea. Some like to skim "wet" which means that they accumulate skimmate quickly, and it is a light green color. Others prefer to skim dry, which gives less volume but darker, thicker crud. With a small tank, I would think that darker skimmate would be better, since you won't remove as much water...
i woruld use a seaclone100 but of how many gallons do you have seaclone can handle any thing from 10g to 100g but it is high priced $ 118.00
