If you're thinking about "Garry's mod v9.0" you simply got to own "Half-Life 2 or CS:S or DOD:S". How to install? Simple extract to the folder named "Source mods" Done! Restart steam and it should show up,

To install "Garry's mod v10.0" you need to own "CS:S; DOD:S or HL-2". Buy it on STEAM for 10 euros / dollars. Then install it, It will install it self automaticly if you have any of the following games I typed.
