well just about anything is better then our current system, but really a gold backed would be a superior system because with that you could establish a separation of economy and government. which would be the best means to ensure that peoples actual wealth doesnt get robbed through inflation

Actually, there was a time when God was used to control people -- it was called the Dark Ages. I am not against spirituality or anything, but I think sometimes we have to be careful to not make sweeping generalisations. If you ask me, people are not in touch with their spiriuality and God, but not in the sense of organised religion.
