I love this idea. I'm going to have to try it sometime. :) I was wondering if you would make a video about wearing this look in the spring (of 2012) ? Please and thankyou.
@gurlygirl347 Glad you like it :) At the end of the video there is links to two videos. The video on the left is one I made and the bracelet is worn in the first styling. All the looks are based around Fall 2011 NYFW runway shows that projected the trends for Spring 2012.
Love it! is there any reason why you do not knot the crochet thread into the first knot? because depending on the leather it might start to slip - or am I overthinking it too much?
@Fl4dd3rm0uz I just didn't want the thread to show that much so I tried to make the knot blend in with the rest of the 'stitching'. You can knot it with the leather if you want...I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work :)
What could you use instead of leather? Where would you get it? Also, where do you live? Because I don't think there are any dollar jewelry shops in my area, at least that I know of.
@ChirpingLlama You can also use suede or waxed cotton cording (found at Hobby Lobby or other craft supply stores). I live in Oklahoma and there are $1 jewelry stores everywhere here. I also know there are similar stores in the neighboring states. You can google things like 'cheap jewelry store' or 'dollar jewelry store' to see if there are any around you.
Thank you for this video! First off, I've been buying dollar store jewelry to DIY for forever, such a great trick :) Also, I've been in love with wrap bracelets but haven't been able to figure construction to my liking...but I love this! I can't wait to try!
@vivaDanielle Awesome! Glad you are a fellow dollar store DIYer :) So glad the tutorial was helpful and can't wait to hear how your bracelet turns out!
absoluely a great vid;) girl keep these coming to us and thank u, as i always wanted to make one of these bracelets myself, now i can;) thanks again!!
@pakt40 Yes, and I considered buying leather cording...but couldn't find any in the color and length I wanted. So I used what I already had and ended up liking the kinda of rough look of it :)
@SunshineCici1 I'm not sure...I just know there are a TON of those stores around here so I figured they were popping up everywhere else too. If you can't find a $1 jewelry store then try looking at Dollar Tree (or other discount stores) for beads or you can buy beads at an art supply store. Hope that helps :)
That is so clever!!! My sister makes awesome bracelets but. I would like to make this for her. Maybe... She is real good and me, err not so much. Great idea though!!!
@Actuallie26 About 2 or 3 hours...but I was teaching myself as I made it. So it should take a little less time for someone who has seen this tutorial :) Once you get into the groove it goes really smoothly. Thanks! The elephant came from the jewelry section of Hobby Lobby
@ChocolatePeach24 From Hobby Lobby. I chose to buy the the odds and ends bag for about $4...much cheaper then buying 1 spool of leather. It came with black and brown in various lengths :)
I just made my second wrap bracelet, the same as my first one but this one wraps around my wrist 3 times. I love it!! I'll show a picture soon if I can :P
@wereall2youngx You can use waxed linen cord, cotton cord, faux leather/rubber cord. Waxed linen, suede, etc. is available for super cheap at Walmart (if there is a walmart where you live), and of course, at Michaels or any jewelery/craft store.
@aglanceatmyworld hello Whit, am a beginner at sewing. when i say beginner i mean no sewing classes at all but i want to get a sewing machine for the kind of crafts you do and all other ones shown on threadbanger (pillbox, cushions,, pillows, dresses etc.) cld u give some tips on what to look for in a sewing machine used for stuff like that. like brands or functional musts on a machine, incase i dont get d brand u recomm. thanks!
@elfynlied Hi, I'm sorry but I don't recommend machines. I don't keep up with the market and reviews...because I use vintage sewing machines 95% of the time. As long as you stick with a well known brand (singer, brother, janome, etc) you should be fine. My first sewing machine was a janome my mom gave me for Christmas..it was about $85. I used it hard for 5-6 years because I ever had any trouble. Any basic machine that sews striaght, zig zag and reverse is all you need to get started. See below
@aglanceatmyworld The key is to read the manual before you ever even thread your sewing machine. Also remember that your machine does not have super powers...every machine has limits. Like don't expect it to be able to sew over 5 layers of denim with a regular sewing needle and nothing bad happen. Your needle will break and your fabric could get jammed in your machine.
With all that being said...best of luck with getting a machine and with your sewing :)
@PINKFOREVA19 Hehe haven't had an eyebrow complaint in several months...I've been expecting this :) I like my eyebrows as is...and since they are on my face that is how they will stay!
@aglanceatmyworld I didnt mean to sound like i was being nasty.. Just.. I cant get overr how thickk theyy are :L they look nicee, just im used to thinner eyebrows so i was like.. idk
My friends and I are planning on making these before one of our dorm sisters goes on a semester abroad! I love how the bracelets can be so individualized. :)
@Fancylooks Cool, let me know how yours turns out :) I don't sell these because the bracelet in the video was my first one ever...and it took about 3 straight hours to make. Maybe after things slow down a little I'll make some more and sell them...
@jennb752 I went throught the last colored bead twice then tied the thread in three knots around some of the other thread. Hope that answered your question :)
I was just searching a bit for crochet cotton, but it is hard to find here. I found weaving cotton, does that work too? And do you have some other tips or alternatives for crochet cotton?
@PTuinman Hehe calm down. Any kind of jewelry or crafting thread that is about the same weight as crochet thread will work...just go roaming down some craft aisles and see what you find. That's what I did :)
I just made my first one, SO EASY!! I didn't findleather for the time but I found kind of a cotton cord that looked like it, it was very thin though. Because it was such thin cord I used small brown wooden beads that I had with an antique gold looking button. I made it just single wrap as a trial, but I'm going to make a longer one soon! Also I don't have any crochet thread left so I'll have to buy more as well as leather and beads I'm planning to buy :P
There are no $1 jewelry stores here:( But I've done this before and for some odd reason the bracelet twists and twists?! Maybe I changed the direction of the wrap.... hmmmmm....
Totally loving this! I saw this picture in you fashion week playlist thingie but the actual video wasn't there so thanks for posting it! Definitely gonna make one!
How cute is that! You could even vary the feel of it by changing the type of cording and beads you use. Imagine black satin cord, metallic silver thread and silver and glass beads. oooh lala.
@MsZenZhen Really? I love wearing natural things like leather, turquoise, and wood jewelry! I don't go all out bohemian...but I mix in bits here and there. Glad you liked the project :)
@MsZenZhen I did a few on my other channel last year but mostly during the winter...I don't wear anything cute in the winter because I'm so cold nature I just focus on staying warm!
thanks sooooo much for this tutorial!! My youngest girl so not a kid anymore is 23 but she is our free spirit ..aka my little hippie since forever.... I am going to have to attempt this to see if I can make this for her..if not...I know she will be able to do it!! Love your videos
@graymalking82 Awesome! And it doesn't take as many beads as I showed in the bowls...I had over half of them left. I meant to show the leftovers but forgot to add that clip in at the end. I'd love to see your bracelet when it's done :)
@junkholder Hehe I was really determined because I wanted one of these bracelets so bad...but was NOT going to pay $275-$325 for the ones I found online and love! That's where the patience came from :)
@kolpiuy56 We have stores called '$1 Jewelry and more, and 'A Buck Jewelry' all over the place around here. You could also use beads from Dollar Tree or a craft supply store :)
@readwriteread There are stores all over around here can '$1 Jewelry and More', 'A Buck Jewelry', '$1 Jewelry Galore', etc. I bought them at one of those stores. You can also find wooden beads at Dollar Tree sometimes or buy packs of beads at a craft store. Hope that helps :)
omg amazing! I've been meaning to make something like this for a while and I actually just bought suede lace the other day! Can't wait to get started on this now!
@ArtsyMouse Yep...the ones I fell in love with were $275-$325 o.O That's half my mortgage payment each month! That's why I was determined to make my own. So glad you liked how it turned out!
i love the idea, but sadly i wouldnt have the patience for it :(

I've never seen dollar jewelry. Where did you buy them?
readwriteread 5 months ago
@readwriteread There are stores all over around here can '$1 Jewelry and More', 'A Buck Jewelry', '$1 Jewelry Galore', etc. I bought them at one of those stores. You can also find wooden beads at Dollar Tree sometimes or buy packs of beads at a craft store. Hope that helps :)
