  • hi, how are you? my name is norberto mujica, and i've have been listening to irish music for about two months, and i think it's great, there's such heart and passion in every tune and in every voice, the dubliners are actually one of my favorite bands, and well after reading so many things about ronnie drew and from all the things you've written, i now know how great he was. and i hope you know that his music is greatly appreciated and loved all the way over here in. Venezuela

  • may you rest in peace ronnie drew, you gave the world great passionate music, your voice will never be forgotten, neither by all the irish people, especially those who live in dublin, nor by me, far away in this beatiful peace of land Venezuela

  • what a way to pay tribute to such a legend

    R.I.P Ronnie Drew

  • chears Ronny. Evertime I hear this song I will honour your presents in this world with a pint.

  • This video brings tears to my eyes but GODDAMNIT BONO! BARNEY SHOULD HAVE SANG YOUR PARTS! Shane's parts are the most stirring for me. There's real pain in his voice, as always I guess.

  • sorry but what the hell is that 1st singer doing? show some respect, just caus your pretty good at singing doesnt mean you can pretend to be a airplane on a ballade

  • Great song! But damm i hate Bono!

    No class!

  • you can see bono moving aroundlike its a fucking rock show for fuck sake bono dont make a fool out of your self

  • I'm sorry but I don't know anyone, without Bono and Shane. May you could tell, who they are?

I'm sorry, I'm from Germany and I'm listening to irish music just since 2008

  • whos the fella singing at 3:14 such a powerful voice!

    RIP ronnie

  • that would be Damien Dempsey

  • thank you sir

  • love ya Ronnie, love ya shane

  • (patmac1100 2) In my case he was my teacher for all of those years that we knew of his existance. (It was only much later that I, for example began to feel the full force of Luke's presence)

  • So what are we doing then..? are we going to really keep this giant of a man's memory really, really alive? My first suggestion is that we gather in Dublin every anniversary of his death and spreading outward from Merrion Row and O'Donaghue's, we listen to serious amounts of his music, drink a little, (responsibly of course) then swop our favourite stories of what he meant to us all as individuals. There could be other venues at the same time, (all suggestion appreciated.)

  • Outstanding! Great Job last night Bono. Fantastic speech at the Irish Arts Center for the Arts and Ronnie. The best was slagging with our President, Cel.

  • R.I.P Ronnie

  • we will all miss you Ronny

  • rip ronnie

  • rip ronnie a true irish man.

  • ronnie was the true irish legend

  • RIP Ronnie. The craic will be in heaven tonight.

  • R.I.P. Ronnie

  • Ronnie drew died

  • bt bono is good he is irish and can sing just because he sings pop music doesnt mean he cant sing traditional music he has helped thousands of people so i think he should be thanked!

  • Pity about Bono hamming it up. Just can't abandon the spotlight, can he?

  • Lol. I may be wrong but it feels like after all these years, Bono is trying to have himself considered a part of Irish music in a non pop-bullshite way. Almost as if he is bowing down to the others saying "accept me please". Better late than never I guess. It is Sinead, Shane, Damo and the Dubliners, etc that i care about here. I try to tune Bono out.

  • i understand ur feelings about bono i have the same but he is irish and it's just a bunch of irish folk worshipping one of their gods. Too bad Shane let him self go. if he had dentures he could/would sound so much better

  • Shane ending it out was the perfect kick for the soul. If Shane had written the lyrics for the song, that would've improved it much but no complaining to such a gesture as was made for Ronnie anyway. :-)

  • Absolutley Brilliant. Ronnie=legendary :)

  • how come Dolores is not there?

  • I love this song. Thank you so much for this video. The quality is superb. Copied this to my ipod. I'll treasure it.

  • Poet and Grateful Dead lyricist, Robert Hunter, wrote these lyrics (save one verse).

  • u never put the corrs in the discription

  • Thanks for posting! It would have been nice though to see one of the woman sing a chorus. Sinead :) Nice tribute though!!

  • Andrea Corr was amazin! I love when she duets with Bono. I miss the Corrs.

I love the song, very irish.

  • Taped it last night and watched it when I go home. It was a great 20 minutes or so and a fitting tribute to Ronnie. Shane and Damo keeping it real!

  • P.S. if every song finished with a verse sung by Shane MacGowan with a single fiddle for accompniment the world would be a much better place!

  • Cheers to that!

  • OMG you are a complete legend, i just saw this on tv but i was in the pub and couldn't hear it. Mark O'Conroy for President I say!
