  • Awesome man, seriously, i just have a question: what is the intro song ?

  • @1TheFutureKid1

The Jezabels from Australia. It's called "Hurt Me." Their big hit is "A Little Piece."

  • Very good

  • @U2GuitarTutorials Hi Michael

In your guitar originally you have cs69 pickups?

How big is difference between cs 69 pickups and Kinmans?

Cs 69 are good for U2 tone also?

  • @Rafal102able

Hi. Never owned '69s but heard they are great. I love the Kinmans. Will never try another pup for a Strat or Tele again.

  • You did a great job playing this and helping break down the dna of the sound in your tutorials. I didn't think I could get a U2 tone but you showed me the way! Thanks for all the efforts. Yeah!

  • Perfect !!!!!

  • best u2-covers on this planet

  • edge's sound in this version sounds more chimey,,,,, do you think he used some kind of chorus fx or other speaker model in his amp?

  • @raoninery: Edge's tone is alwasys more chimey compared to mine because he's using a real, loud Vox AC-30. No model will compare. I was using a $150 Tech21 Liverpool pedal. It's great, but I don't claim it's a real AC-30.

  • Oops bids is vids... Damn autocorrect

  • Thanks Michael the bids are very well done

  • @AussieJez2907:

Thx for the kind words. More to come!

  • Great video! Thanks. Who is the idiot that didn't like this video? What else do they want?

  • Excellent vid tutorial and production.

  • Hi Michael what sort of software do you use for the video uploads

  • @AussieJez2907:

I shoot all vid with a Canon Vixia HFS10, edit with Final Cut Express on a Mac Pro, export as a Quicktime Movie, and then compress using MPEG Streamclip (free software) using H.264 (high quality settings). Works perfectly. But I film in HD, so files are large and take time to render, etc.

  • When will people realize that THIS is how you do guitar tutorials!?? Believe it or not there are tutorials out there for Pride that are less than 3 minutes long! There is SO much more to playing the guitar than what the left hand is doing....

  • @videos4mydad: Very kind of you, thx. Well, check out Parts 2 through 5. And the hard part describing the right hand is coming in Part 6. This has been a tough one to explain actually.

  • I love it

  • Michael, love how you cover a lot of the Paris '87 songs. In my opinion, some of U2's best versions of live songs come out of this concert. I think Bono's voice was in this prime during this time. Thanks for the tutorial!

  • Great work! what settings are you using on the Liverpool pedal on these two tutorials?

  • @norumba:

I'll show them in an upcoming tutorial.

  • Great job, we're tackling this in a covers band I play in so you've helped a lot.

  • I believe we all appreciate how much time and effort you pour into getting these tones. This really nails it. Thank you

  • I am so humbled at your skill. I would vote for the slane. Im a fan of your bad cover.

My skills are somewhere, one day i will find them. But i think i may have to save up for a nice sustainer guitar like yours or just an awesome rack system like yours :)

Thanks for your time to make and post these Michael.

  • Sidebar: I noticed the max HD here is 720 (whereas your videos normally have 1080 option); I've also noted that every time I upload a video created with 1080, the max HD is 720. Any idea why?

  • @kfliegner:

Hey KF. The DVD vid is not HD, so I used a lower quality format. So when I imported my video, it conformed to 720. All my other stuff starts with 1080 and I keep it that way. You will notice a few of my other vids with external DVD video are all in 720. I probably should do everything in 720 as it takes up much less space and renders much faster.

  • A seriously scientific art work!

  • Michael - fantastic job. I was looking for a different guitar however ! LOL

  • Great! Been looking forward to this one for a while. It's very interesting the way you played the harmonics in the solo part. I haven't seen anyone play it that way before. I've always struggled getting the solo right, so I'll be very interested to see you break that part down in the tutorials. Good job!

  • @tcbonline:

Thx. I think I'm playing the solo harmonics just like Edge in the Paris version. I slowed it down. It's five notes (B E B E B strings) on 12th fret. I will explain the difference to the modern version in my tutorials.

  • deadly sound. great inspiration michael . thanks for all the tutorials and future ones.

  • Very nice cover.

was it intentional? (Bullet The) Blue Sky shirt.

    Greetings.

  • @ArrJayEss:

LOL, that's a Blue Sky Basin shirt from Vail. I'm a skier.

  • Finally ! You did it well !

  • sounds good ;-)

  • whats that song from the beginning before pride starts?

    good job man

  • @DarkRising12: My favorite new band: The Jezebels. Song is called Hurt Me. Their big hit is called A Little Piece, and I also like the song called Dark Storm. Check them out. I think they should open for U2. I think they are from Australia.

  • @U2GuitarTutorials Hey Michael, great vid! Jezabels definitely from down under. They're heading your way in March for a gig in Brooklyn. If I remember correctly you're in NY???

  • @fosters027:

I'll be going to if they are coming here, thx!!

  • @fosters027: They will be here on the 12th and 13th. I can't go to the show on the 12th in Brooklyn, but they play in Manhattan on the 13th. Unfortunately they are scheduled with many other bands, so not sure how much time they will have on stage.

  • Long life ,good job!!!

    Thanks...

  • Very nice job Michael, personally i fall in love with thesedays Edgy Pride sound, but Paris sound is classic and you nailed it pitch perfect ;)

  • @pupack: Thx. I'm going to do a cover of a more "modern" version like Chicago or Slane with different strumming, lead and tone.

  • Nailed! sounds perfect... awesome. I'd love to listen to your preset using a Les Paul in standard tuning like the studio version... I'd bet one guitar it would sound like the album version.

  • YES!! That's what it's all about!!!

  • You are a genius!!!! xD

    Great song...

  • finally!!!!!

  • Perfect cover, as always. Love the return of the 'promo' vid style. :) What tuning are we in here? Also, great use of harmonics in the solo. Can't wait for the full tutorial!

  • @mofous:

    Thx! Eb tuning.
