I had a Ques...tion! What's the meaning/significance of the letters GT/GT1/GT2/GTR respectively? Specifically, what's the difference race/event-wise and if the make/model of a car has any of those letters attached to it? Gimme the guts & bolts ;)!

@undeny GT and GTR are generic terms for grand touring cars (fast cars with a focus on comfortable long distance travel). GT-R designates a racing GT. Some manufacturers call the regular models GTs (Ford GT, Ford Mustang GT, Nissan GT-R) while some use it to designate the racing models (Mclaren F1 GT-R). GT1, GT2, GT3, and GT4 are all different car categories in FIA GT (though GT2 is defunct currently). This is GT1, GT3 and GT4 also get their own racing series. Lower numbers=faster/better cars

@WayfstrthnU also, Le Mans Series uses a different system (they used to use GT2, but now it's split). In Le Mans Series and American Le Mans Series, GT2 has been split into GTE-Pro (professional drivers) and GTE-Am (amateur drivers with 1 professional driver per car, uses older cars than Pro). In ALMS, there's also a GT Challenge class (currently only using Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars)

She put on a good race at Le Mans last weekend, sadly though, her car caught on fire and she had to get out of the passenger side door because the driver's side door was too close to the crash barrier. She's alright though. A spectacularly amazing feat to race at Le Mans while recovering from a broken leg. Hope the best for her.

i was there, man that was one horrible crash, the whole audience stood up and started looking at the far right, the session was then cancelled and all cars returned to their garages.

gt1 is a great series, however, they need to keep the cars that are AWD (Nissan, Lambo, etc.) as they are, because they were conceived as AWD, if you make them RWD only then it takes a lot of the magic out of it. For example, the Nissan is not really a GTR if only 2 wheels are powering the vehicle, might as well race the 370z

@mefulltun ABS isnt used in professional racing because it removes a learned skill that all drivers must master. but even if the matech GT had an ABS system, the car was still going 170mph into the braking zone, and the decreased brake pressure would have caused the same result

And it's not a bad spot for a TV camera, normally that run-off is big enough. Just bad that you don't realise much looking through the black and white viewfinder. I bet he didn't see it coming. I work as a photographer at FIA-GT and LMS sometimes. Some mishaps you just don't see coming looking through the camera

Team says, problem with the rear brake circuit, but front brakes were fine. The issue meant she had to push much harder on the brakes, which could have caused the fronts lock up in itself (as seen in footage). When she was forced to push harder on the brakes, the teams data said she accidentally was pushing on the accelerator too. Her injuries were a fracture in one leg.
