In defense of all the Trappers on here. There are better ways to deal with killing the bobcat. I myself use a catch pole and its alot safer then having to get to close to the cat and beating it. Now as far as these assholes who have no understanding of trapping kindly shut the hell up and think before you talk. The Animal has a better chance of survivng a trap then being hunted. Trapping is all about chance I have about 100 traps out and so far ive only caught 10 cats.

I live in the Dakotas amongst wild bobcats...have for over 40 years. I've come across Bobcat's hundreds of times both on foot and horseback...the cats are clearly scared of me. They're shy and have no interest in getting near me. That said, "population control" may or may not be appropriate in some areas of the nation...that's not for me to decide. I stand corrected that bobcats are not endangered. But, if this "legal" hunting continues, they soon will be. Hunters account for 67% of bobcat deaths. Habitat loss and more cars on the roads also are having an increased effect. Some people just love to kill and will find any excuse. Yes, it was most likely more accurate with the hammer than a gun. Population control for some wild populations is important, and actually reduces animal suffering because then you don't have animals starving to death. The snare used here was clearly a human one that did not injure. That was a good, quick kill in the video -- the guy knows what he's doing and doesn't prolong the animal's stress. My guess would be that clubbing is more reliable as a humane method of killing than a gun would be.
why is there so many anti trappers on this? im 14 and just started traping in AK but i come down to kansas a lot and going to start coyote, bobcat and coon traping. il use a pellet gun if i have to kill one but i have no problem with people useing a pole it was a quick kill so whats the problem?? o well good luck trapper and F you others that comment negative.
Nice bob cat there. I think many people are upset as to your method of dispatch. Watch a few videos of trapping and most don't show the animals dispatch. It's about 50/50 club vs a .22. I prefer a 25 pistol. quick kill with a shot to the head and I don't have to get quite as close as you did. But just as many dispatch with some form of club; I like that you used a metal one and it was also a quick kill.

I understand why he did not dispatch the animal with a small caliber firearm (pelt), but hitting the cat with a pipe and sharing the event with the world is a little much. Plus it takes balls to get that close. And the bobcat is not an endangered species, just depends on what area you are in.

I'm actually proud of the fact that you caught the bobcat, but I wouldn't video that kind of dispatch for you tube. That's the kind of thing that people will use in anti trapping campaigns. You and I know it works well, but if I was just hell bent on taping the dispatch, I would do it with some small arm or a ketch pole. I live in the Dakotas amongst wild bobcats...have for over 40 years. I've come across Bobcat's hundreds of times both on foot and horseback...the cats are clearly scared of me. They're shy and have no interest in getting near me. That said, "population control" may or may not be appropriate in some areas of the nation...that's not for me to decide. It may look cruel but it's a quick death. How many chickens, etc. did that bobcat kill? We need the whole story. Bobcats can be very destructive. Often they don't even eat what they kill. They'll just break into a cage and kill everything they see. You could almost understand if they killed what they ate, but often they don't. Moreover, once they know where there is easy prey they will keep coming back and there's no stopping them. Well, there is as this gentleman demonstrates.

I stand corrected that bobcats are not endangered. But, if this "legal" hunting continues, they soon will be. Hunters account for 67% of bobcat deaths. Habitat loss and more cars on the roads also are having an increased effect. Some people just love to kill and will find any excuse. Yes, it was most likely more accurate with the hammer than a gun. Population control for some wild populations is important, and actually reduces animal suffering because then you don't have animals starving to death. The snare used here was clearly a human one that did not injure. That was a good, quick kill in the video -- the guy knows what he's doing and doesn't prolong the animal's stress. My guess would be that clubbing is more reliable as a humane method of killing than a gun would be.

Nice bob cat there. I think many people are upset as to your method of dispatch. Watch a few videos of trapping and most don't show the animals dispatch. It's about 50/50 club vs a .22. I prefer a 25 pistol. quick kill with a shot to the head and I don't have to get quite as close as you did. But just as many dispatch with some form of club; I like that you used a metal one and it was also a quick kill.

I understand why he did not dispatch the animal with a small caliber firearm (pelt), but hitting the cat with a pipe and sharing the event with the world is a little much. Plus it takes balls to get that close. And the bobcat is not an endangered species, just depends on what area you are in.

I'm actually proud of the fact that you caught the bobcat, but I wouldn't video that kind of dispatch for you tube. That's the kind of thing that people will use in anti trapping campaigns. You and I know it works well, but if I was just hell bent on taping the dispatch, I would do it with some small arm or a ketch pole. Besides the skulls are no good after that, and that's just money down the drain. At any rate it's a nice cat though.
