you should learn some basic rules about this game.

first, avoid large concentrations of your units on the sand, the worms WILL swallow a good deal of them, second, basic infantry is useless, third, don't put any of your units in front of a sinuc tank. also, you're going to want to expand to a new rock, that's what the MCV is for (you can pack it up again) also, check the starport imports for the price, sometimes it is higher, other times it is lower.

@Lathamos Yeah, because in Dune, due to a devastating conflict with machines, machines themselves are outlawed. No computers are allowed whatsoever. They didn't go part of the way like in Mass Effect (Sentient AI is illegal), but rather all the way, making ANY type of computer illegal. So spice allows a human to become like a supercomputer and allows one to calculate coordinates for FTL space travel in their head and drive the ship safely.

How is it that only one person out of all those that commented noticed that he was killing his own men. And the hilarious part is that he blames it on the worms.

At about 6:35 we see him sonic his own repair vehichle to smithereens when an enemy scout appears nearby.

At about 7:15 we see him sonic to death one of his own infantry.

At about 8:15 we see him destroy his own sonic tank.

At about 8:48 we see him destroy two more of his own sonic tanks.

How does he not see that?

The spice is used for this: It enhances your "Truthsense" - the "6th sense"-like ability to detect if someone is lying. It also allows space travel. And you can get high on it. And appearantly, once you've had spice once, you will need it. Like a drug arddict needs his heroine.

@Krotidas You're kidding right? The install procedure for this game is pretty awesome, plays some great music and shows some cool vehicle artwork and stuff while installing.

Starcraft is overrated. I don't play like this guy at all. I play on a slower game speed, and don't build up massive armies, start attacking as soon as I have a reasonable defense. This game has almost infinite replay in scenario mode cause you choose what areas to attack and defend.

If you build the advanced carryall you can steal the opponents harvesters and transport them to a killing ground to be destroyed. No need to build a second carryall, just build a second ramp for your refinery (or a third) and a harvester and carryall come free with each one. If you are short of money just touch the many bits of debris scattered around and get a small payoff.

Such a great RTS game. Even if I'd consider its graphics "medium" these days, they were exceptional when the game came out (that's quite some time ago)!

A funny thing I noticed:

Fremens sometimes shout something that is also shouted in Command & Conquer Generals, by Chinese red guards.

This proves how other westwood (now owned by EA) games have been based on this classic one.

If you like RTS games, this one's definitely one to try out! :-)

Oh my god, I remember when this game came out.

For me, it's actually a long time favorite. E:BfD is I believe, the LAST Westwood game made with actual Westwood. Westwood is known for it's Command and Conquer series; a popular RTS god that fell to the EA giant long ago. E:BfD was unique because it featured 3 unique races that actually felt rather different. Plus, the 6 "sub factions" from which you could choose 2 of. Awesome RTS in it's day. Wish I could play you, PoM.

Best way to winning any campaign level on any difficulty is in 3 steps:

1)Build fast;

2)Start training about 25 Mangoose's, and Trikes-for killing infantry (you don't have to wait them all to train, you can take a medium force and try to win, but I strongly suggest you to wait until they all train);

3)Rush enemy base with all your trained force... Mangoose's have very great advantage, thay can fire while moving, so enemy tanks will be history! :)

man I used to play this game a long time ago :P was pretty fun.

the Atreides are the best faction but it also requires the most micro management to be successful. those Sonic tanks are just killers but they can also kill your own units(which happened to you quite often when you used them). the Harkonnen are more of a brute force faction, which doesnt require too much micro management to be very strong. Ordos are weird, the have the longest range unit(deployed Cobras) and hovercrafts.
