  • I absolutely love the trumpet at 2:07!

  • Comment removed

  • I love Frank Sinatra. I love Frank's version of this one. Bobby Darin, however, OWNED Frank with this performance.

  • Darin killed it on this song. As for the comparisons between him and Frank Sinatra, all I can say is they were two Italian hunks and i wouldn't mind being in a room and serenaded by them. :)

  • frank sinatra is the original cool cat but darin is good too

  • Fantastic performance!

  • Better than Frank? Yes. Absolutely!

  • "Happy together, Un...happy together and won`t that be fine!"

Great man, Great performer & missed.

  • I say: not a old man. :)

  • Bobby was a good person and had more soul than Frank, who was NOT a good person.

  • @berrygirl1964 you sing alot like Bobby Darin when you are having a massive orgasm.

  • @GeorgeCarlinEatPussy -> I'm a old man, but love musics full of style and class! And da**, your phrase is a perfect description!! I am knowing Bobby Darin just now and can tell: In the worst hypothesis Bobby is at least in the same level of Frank!! What voice AND style!!

  • What a voice. What a talent. He was one of a kind.

  • Ray Charles,Sinatra&Darin..they did it the best!

  • Incomparable and unduplicated! His music touches me, such emotion and soul that no one else comes even close! Classy, sexy, awesome....BD!

  • Crooner with THE soul

  • BOBBY BOBBY BOBBY!!!

  • Awesome version! Wow!

  • The way he pours his passion here ... is just incredable... whether comes rain or sunshine :-)))

In my early age I wasn't so found and a fan of his... getting elder he became to move my emotions :-)))

    5 stars from Budapest!

  • damn

  • Great blast from the past*****

    Thanks Judie for sharing

  • Incredibile sensuale!!

  • Melting. Love this man

  • An original. No one comes close. Thanks for posting.

  • what a performance..

  • Terrific! Unfortunately, Bobby passed away too early in life but his music lives

on for us to enjoy. I don't understand how anyone could give this a negative vote?

  • Wow, what a free performer. He just seems to go with what he feels. No cliches.

  • An outstanding performer, often forgotten. A true master at song interpretation. RIP Bobby Darin. You will never be forgotten.

  • Darin way ahead of the curve like Sammy baby

  • My goodness! This rendition is superb - Darin is extremely talented! And this is from a diehard Sinatra admirer here. His work is cool! It always makes me wonder what would happen if he had lived longer.

  • @fansinatra He was the only one who could come close to what Frank did.

  • @56Packman Ever hear Matt Monro?

  • @5OClockVegasBlue Yes, and I like Matt Monroe quite a lot. Matt was an excellent ballad singer. He couldn't quite swing like Frank and Bobby Darrin--that is a rare gift.

  • @56Packman Yes, Frank and Bobby were something else, that's for sure.

  • Let's all sign a petition to give to Dodd. We all want the amusement company and Bobby Darin shows to be released on DVD(or at least all of the musical portions of those shows) Darin was on the A list of singers, and it's about time that all of these wonderful performances were available to enjoy!

  • @damone77 Where do I sign up? I'd give just about anything to SEE his sing "I'll Be Your Baby, Tonight" one more time. I'm just hoping I live long enough to recognize it when it does come out, if it does come out.

  • GREATNESS!!!

  • so so so great! XO to Bobby thank you. I listen to this every day

  • Bobby Darin received the GRAMMY LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD TONIGHT! His son Dodd Darin gave a beautiful speech on his behalf in yesterday's ceremony. It's on You Tube under " Bobby Darin Lifetime Award". Bobby was a versatile, multitalented genius!

  • Thanks Apollowoman!

  • Gets a little Ray Charles-ish at the end.

  • Is this on any CD or vinyl album?

  • This is on the DVD "Seeing is Believing".

  • OH MY FU**ING GOD!

    that was amazing.

  • This will always be one of my favorite videos on youtube. Bobby sang alot of Johnny Mercer songs, seems like they were written just for him.

  • Check on Two of a Kind for the Darin/Mercer combination. Great music and great fun.

  • Bobby was a Class act and HOT too, shame he left us so soon and that him and Connie didn't end up together... sad...

  • GRAMMY ALERT! Bobby finally gets the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award Jan 30, 2010!

  • Bobby at 2:05 says "...give it to me...." . OH how I wish I could give it to him ;)

Here is a male sensualist in the flesh!

  • OMG...he is beautiful...I adore this man & his legacy!!!! **** COME RAIN OR COME SHINE : )

It is so wonderful to see the love for Bobby Darin on Youtube...." THE MACK IS BACK" !

  • The one and the best.

    Unforgettable Bobby.

We love you and we miss your voice and your talent. Yes, no one compare to Bobby

  • No one can compare to Bobby! He was the best.

  • @ILuvBobbyDarin that's right!

  • @ILuvBobbyDarin You said it!!!!!!

  • Bobby, you still won the time, is unforgettable, wonderful!

    God bless you!

  • Ok, because people won't stop bringing up that "other" singer when posting on Bobby videos , I just listened to "his" version of this song. Like the girl sings in A Chorus Line-----I felt nothing!! He doesn't look at you like Bobby does with those smokin eyes , he just doesn't take a song and sing soul into it the way Bobby does, he has NEVER left me breathless after a song. Only one guy can do that. He's right here.

  • You're right Bobby! We're gonna love you come rain or come shine! Forever!

You make us swoon..................no other singer even compares.

  • I like Hennley's version better. Maybe it's because I knew it long before now

  • Peace guys please. I bet if Bobby were alive today he would be a big Idol fan. He was always on the cutting edge of so many trends. Besides being talented to the bone, he always admired and respected other artists. He never got the respect he deserved by the music industry, then he was gone. Thank you Kevin Spacey for the rebirth of Bobby Darin and a whole new generation of fans. Bobby's death was one of those "I remember exactly where I was when we got the news", it was devastating.

  • who in the f*ck is Dan Dokey and why is anyone talking about him? This is Darin doing Mercer and if you don't feel the climax, I don't know why you are here on earth PERIOD

  • You need to watch American Idol on an occasion.

  • I hope ur being sarcastic, Rus. I actually couldn't check my curiousity so I looked up this Dorkey fellow and I only got about 20 seconds into the song because Mercer would be rolling if his grave if he'd hear his rendition. Finger down throat kind of jazz. I actually don't mean to call it jazz.

  • @jezzfan33 You know he and Mercer were great friends and did an album together and wrote a classic together that's on the album, right? You know that, right?

He even was able to get Mercer up on stage with him once and Mercer loved it, loved him, etc. You need to read up a little more than 20 seconds.

  • @liverpoolishgirl I'm sorry you didn't understand my comment. I probably wrote it when I was angry and did it too fast. Yes, I have read three books about Darin, have heard a duet with Mercer and knew about the album. I was saying that I don't think Mercer would have liked the rendition performed by that American Idol guy. Someone got on this board and said this guy, whose name I forget, sings better than Bobby and I was saying, "hell no!" Mercer would be rolling over in his grave if he'd heard.

  • @jezzfan33 I hear exactly what you mean. BOBBY DARIN...Oh my GOD..the depth, soul, phrasing, understanding of the lyrics, the voice, everything...no comparison...What's missing in the NOW generation is the depth ...going beyond the surface to the substance ....not all of NOW is bad of course..much good too..but BOBBY DARIN,...a young legend and AMAZING!!!!! talent, LEGEND, one of kind...the wisdom the young man had and lived his life so fully despite everything..and dying so young..alas!!

  • He was one of the greatest american singers!!

  • The women want to jump his bones, there I said it!!! LOL

  • Bobby is unbelievably sensual in this performance. How can anyone watch this and not fall in love, or at least want to exude that much charisma? Men wanted to be him and the women........decorum prevents me from saying what I really feel................

  • You tell`em....CLASS + SUAVE = BOBBY

His voice is silky and sexy and no one can compare....simply put !!!!!!!! SIGH : )

  • Danny Gokey a couldn't spit shine Bobby Darin's boots.

  • ha ha what are you doing at a darin site? Gokey does a whispery half assed pop version of this song. take some time to REALLY listen, respect, and understand the masters before you start discarding them cuz some young hot shot thinks he ought to modernize a classic song.

  • Yes, THAT'S been the age old question in

show business. Danny Gokey or Bobby Darin.

It's been pretty close these last 50 yrs or so, but

I think Darin is inching ahead in the polls lately.

  • I love him so so much nobody comes close...

  • Listen to Bobby's version of "HAPPY." MAGNIFICENT!!!!!!!

  • Carol, absolutely agree with you. Was a performer for over 25 years and have ALWAYS recommended to whoever would listen, to follow your suggestion. As far as I have always been concerned, Bobby, always ran "circles" around the "Rat Pack," especially Sammy Davis Jr. Of course, that's up to one's likes and dislikes. He was an Oscar nominee, winner of multiple Grammy's. Lastly, he sold MANY more million records than Sammy.

  • Could not agree with you more Carol!

  • The interesting thing here is how Darin shows his diversity by moving from a straight sinatra-style performance into a ray-charles bluesey versions half way through with so much ease.

  • Just suffered thru the tv show called american idol "rat pack week." I had to come back once again to hear the real AMERICAN IDOL perform to get the awful taste out of my mouth. Sweet, talented kids but they would greatly benefit if their handlers would sit them down for a week or 2 with the great BD's albums and DVD's.

    Carol

  • Oh my god ! What a song! Knowing what we know about Bobby and Sandy's story now, this song makes so much more sense.

  • Care to explain?

  • Really??? Never had a life??? Read up on it.

  • Oh my - I never thought I'd hear a better version than Sinatra's - but this is awesome.

  • Sang Bobby!

I mean Frank loved him some Black music we all know that but Bobby...DAMN Bobby nearly WAS Black!!

  • I want to cry for this song!

  • Do one better and purchase; "Bobby Drain...Mack Is Back." I have ALL three DVD's. This one is the BEST!!!!! Was able to convert 15 Sammy Davis Jr., Sinatra fans, just based on, this particular DVD. You'll NEVER regret it............

  • The most prevelant "reed," is a Baritone Sax. However, there is only a muted solo trumpet in the background.

  • that a boy bobby. You gave me chills

  • the king long live the king...he the man!!

  • great song, i love don henley's version and of course frank's but bobby still gives me the chills, so heartfelt, thank you!

  • is that an alto or soprano in the back

  • I miss you handsome angel.

  • Starting 5th December 2008, BBC Radio 2 is broadcasting a 4-part documentary series called BOBBY DARIN: A MAN IN A HURRY. You can listen to it online anytime from anywhere in the world by logging on to the BBC RADIO 2 website.

  • wow, "give it to me now!" what a swingin band, thanks for posting

  • he's just amazing..what a talent...god given true talent

  • I love the hot sexy daddy with the beautiful face.

  • Bobby, he left us too soon. I was just a kid about 11 years old when he passed away. I used to watch his variety show. Kids my age though I was a little strange because I liked this kind of music at that age. I still do. Darin, Dino, Frank, Tony, Mel, Leena. Their music makes me think of my dad. Music was about the only thing me and my dad agreed on. LOL! Thanks for the post. Franks version of this song is great too.

  • wish I could find this as a mp3

  • That's exactly what I wanted and I found it last week on Amazon. - you can get all the live performances from the "Seeing is Believing" DVD as MP3 downloads. Woo-Hoo!

  • He makes me feel good.

  • OMG!!!

    Oh yeaaaah!

    Finest!!!

  • classic Bobby Darin....

  • amazing. that's all i can say.

  • Better than Frank

  • Damn, lord. "better than Frank"? That's a powerful statement. But I won't argue with you on this song.

  • @barrys yeah I was thinking the same. I loved Bobby also, but Frank stands alone.

  • @barrys Without a doubt, Bobby ran "circles" around Frank and especially, Sammy Davis Jr.

  • Put this in the dictionary as the definition of "confidence". What a guy....

  • very romantic

  • Fox.

  • Thanks dhdarin45, when it comes to Bobby Darin there are not enough beautiful words to be said, the man had charisma dripping out of every pore of his body, talent like his just don't come around anymore.

  • Bobby I would have loved you like nobody ever loved you, handsome daddy. I love your hot sexy mouth, beautiful angel.

  • Nobody could do a song better than Bobby Darin, he gave every song everything he had,so much feeling, so much of himself. Bobby's motto "always leave 'em wanting more" and that is exactly what he always did. An amazing man, what a talent. wow thanks for posting.

  • Agreed -- terrific version of "Come Rain Or Come Shine"...

  • BEAUTIFUL*****bdfan50*****BEAUTIFULLY SAID !!!!! & WANTING MORE WE DO!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • "Come Rain or Come Shine" what a beautiful and

lovely rendition Bobby Darin does. He sings this with such depth and feeling. Very very romantic, makes me want to put on my dancing

shoes to slow dance. The beat and tempo of the

music done by the band is wonderful. Mr Darin

knew exactly what he wanted and got it.

TOUCHE BOBBY. Long live your music.

  • Bobby is smooooooooth as silk.

  • Passion + Soul = Bobby Darin {simply put} !!!!

  • Yeah that daddy was FINE.

  • ...ditto...

  • What a multi-faceted performer!

    Excellent.....

  • the best version i know!thanks

  • Sweet papa bear.

  • Wow, talk about torchin.' He is so gorgeous, so hot, so sexy. "Give it to me now. Give it to me now." Oh, Bobby, name the time and the place. I'll be there.

  • I just LOVE you and don`t even know you**LOL!!! BDO {Bobby Darin Obseessed} are we & lovin it!! He beheld "passion" in every song he ever sang and I think thousands around the world would agree.......dh

  • yeah girl you think like I do!

  • I am not sure (at all) but I believe this was on the Seeing is Believing dvd and I think it may have been from one of the last shows he did before he died. It still is amazing to me that he kept such a severe illness from the public for such a long time. No one except people very close to him and family knew how bad he actually was and I don't think even some of them believed he was that sick...

  • I wonder if he could admit it himself even, to have driven himself like that. Having spent all the energy he did in traveling, performing, and (smoking, drinking etc) the entertainer life, and emotional troubles. His death was hastened by these. Emotional troubles or (stress) alone play heavily on health. I guess he figured he was going to live it up while he could. I wonder if today's technology could have rectified his condition.

  • For sure.

  • I have read numerous sources and self-statements that he didn't drink except an occasional glass of wine and tried pot once and didn't like it. There's so much in medicine now that could have helped save him.

  • I don't think his friends or family really wanted to admit it.

  • This song should carry a warining. Dont mix with whisky and early mornings alone. Recipe for depression :/ Brill song!

  • Classic song done great here by BD. Beautiful. Thanks.

  • Too all those fuck bags below who unfortunately chose to argue among themselves like utter retards, about who's the better singer, who's older than 18yrs old, who has fucked up user name etc... just STFU!

  • What a VOICE! Thank U sooooo much for posting this clip! Bobby sounds FANTASTIC! :)

  • Count me as a number one fan of BOBBY DARIN.

What a talent and stage presence. Bobby will be remembered as one of the greats in entertainment.

  • Amen!!!!! I loved his passion towards life and his music......Darin Forever!! dh

  • Bobby didn't live to be 83 years old like Frank. Just imagine what Bobby could have done with another 46 years. Personally I think he was just the best....

  • Was this one of the last performances, he looks a little rough here 8[ ??? Sounded great as ever though, even through it all to the end.

  • Twas

  • Comment removed

  • If Frank had died when he was the age BD was when he died, it would have been 1952.

  • hey, take it easy darin fans...i loved bobby too, he was simply great, but with due respect to him, there has never been a singer to even come close to frank, it's funny when placido domingo was asked a few years ago who was the best singer of all time even he said it was francis albert sinatra

  • Sorry, but I have to disagree with you on that statement. I have NEVER understood why Frank Sinatra was considered such a great singer because he wasn't. If you listen to most of his songs, he is basically talking. Elvis Presley WAS, IS and ALWAYS WILL BE the BEST SINGER to ever walk the face of the earth. His music will live on forever!

  • Frank Sinatra did not have the vocals that a lot of singers do but, what Sinatra had was a way with lyrics. No one could tell or sing a story like Frank. His breath control was untouchable. His delivery of a song(lyric) will never be touched by anyone again.

  • Gosh, I love this man so much! He touches me to my very soul. Bobby Darin is a unique combination of class and sass and boyish masculinity and charisma, with a gorgeous singing voice and extraordinary talent and a high intellect and cute New York City accent and . . . . (Sorry, folks, it's easy to get carried away when writing about Bobby!)

  • Can someone explain something to me. When I make comments on a particular site my comments are not posted. Some are.But most of them are not. When I comment and click,it says comment posted. But on this certain site it is not. The webmaster says they post all comments.Strange.

  • After you make your comment--just go to the top and push refresh and it should come right up on the post!!!! dh

  • The Best;simply the best.

  • Frank is talentless compared to Bobby. He wishes he had 1% of what Bobby had. This is an amazing performance, Darin was just tanfastic!

  • Hey Eternal,,,When you are born dumb it is forever...

You are the prime wxample of it...

Your need to disrespect a performer is just pitiful, and dead wrong...Moron old fool

  • What's a 'wxample'? And you're calling me dumb....*rolls eyes*....I'm entitled to my opinion about Frank, as you are with Bobby. You can never convince me that Sinatra is better, it's untrue to me. Oh and, I am not old, ha ha. I am 18.

  • Eternal..No you are 81,not 18.. thats for sure..you just inverted your numbers...Alzheimers??

I did not challenge your opinion dumbo, "I said your need to disrespect a performer is just pitiful", I add especially Sinatra!!

However you are dumb..and that is forever..18 ha ha old fool, you are dust in the wind Geez

Your name EternalDreamspace adds to your dementia

  • I have videos up. Check them out. They prove I am 18. Not that I have anything to prove to you. As for Sinatra, he wasn't anything special. And suppose we were in an alternate universe and I was 81. Some respect you have for older people. NOT!! Bobby is great in this video, he was the master showman. I adore him. :D

  • Dunno about Sinatra, but this kick-ass bluesy version hits you right in the gut. "Give it to me, give it to me"!!!

  • OHHH !! Do I ever agree with you !!

  • Given the fact BD was a songwriter and composer, he had an innate respect for the band and all the musicians and it showed. He always thanked the musicians after every performance. Frank did not and was not known as a particularly nice individual.

  • Fantastic version! just discovered this now and I must say, from a Sinatra fan, he did it just as good as Ole Blue Eyes...

  • YES, he DID, didn't he !! Just saw another video where someone said when asked who would he like to go see himself, and Sinatra said... (guess who)

  • Is that video on YouTube? Because its a well known fact that Sinatra did not think too highly of Darin.("Bobby Darin? He plays my prom dates.")

  • Wow, now think about that comment, knowing Frank's insecure, nasty side. Think about the talent that is Bobby Darin, a younger, more expressive with a punch entertainer, just as good a voice, sounds like the little green monster to me.

  • I like Sinatra but I loooooove Bobby`s voice and his intence passion in every song he ever sang!!! ***miss you soooo Bobby,*** dh

  • No one could match Sinatra's version. But no one could match Bobby's version of "Beyond the Sea" or "Don't get around much anymore" to name a few. Remember that this track was from his ill fated TV show very late in his career. He was in constant pain during the making of the TV series and needed oxygen. He did pretty good on this Arlen classic!!!

  • Totally agree! Nor can anyone match his "Mack the Knife" (which I've been listening to now, over and over, for the last weeks since I watch "Beyond the Sea")...I used to be solely a Sinatra fan, but now that I've re-discovered Darin's music, I'm taken!

  • You can`t help, but get hooked when seeing and hearing his beautiful voice---HOOKED AM I !!!! dh

  • This is good. It's not up there with the Sinatra version, but it's still ok.

  • WONDERFUL!!!!!

    THE BEST!!!

    Thank you once again....

  • has to be the most amazing entertainer ever watching him now is like he is still with us

  • Wonderful

  • The Best!

  • I remember being in the car on a rainy day, and hearing on the radio that Bobby Darin had died. I cried and cried. I was ten years old and loved him. Still miss Bobby Darin. What a natural, beautiful voice.

  • i would to. must be heartbraking
