Once again here are the running times for both shows..Even though the inglewood show is clearly 4 minutes longerthan the tokyo show, there will still be people that will say the tokyo show is longer.
probly needed to sing again to get his voice again... probly didnt do much singin between the old guns and the new ones... like if you stop playin guitar for 10 years, youre gonna be pretty rusty .... but now hes got his voice back
Axl's voice seems like its almost back to normal. I don't expect he will ever be as good as he was...but it is amazing he can even keep it up. They are coming to Halifax next month..I would give my left nut to see that show...This set list is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Axl is finaly back, and what the rage in his voice! He blow out the first row singing the Molotow cocktail! Sometimes he has problems singing the highest notes on the count of running around, and he makes that squiky sound...The most important thing is that he is back, band sounds fucking great and can't wait to see them! GNR all the way!
His voice is really powerful here. He even over screams. Usually he only screams on the chorus of this song but here from the start he's like 'I GOT A RATTLESNAKE SUITCASE UNDER MY ARM'

the comparison with scott weiland doesnt apply. without scott's lyrics, those songs wont exist but without slash, the songs i mentioned did exist.

Izzy left BECAUSE of axl, and him always showing up late to shows and causing full out riots for no reason. @paintbala4life75,slash's statements for why he left change with his convenience. hes contradicted himself so often, hard to believe a word that comes out of his mouth now.
in the early 90's he said musical differences played a huge role. in his book in 2007, he said they werent a big deal. he claims axl never came to recordings etc, yet duff talked about the "lost album" that GNR were working on when slash quit & 7 songs were already completed! slash's best friend marc canter verified this.
@paintbala4life75, now moving on to the issue of ownership of the band name.
in slash's book, he admits that there were 6 serious discussions among the other band members about firing axl from GNR. axl wasnt willing to be a sitting duck &get thrown out of the band that HE started. so in order to protect himself, he made an agreement with slash & duff (the only other co-owners of the GNR name by then after steven and izzy's exit) and WITH THEIR CONSENT, axl got ownership of the GNR name.
@paintbala4life75, this contract was made in 1992 and as slash admits in his book, it was put in Escrow till 1995. slash and duff had 3 years to challenge the contract if they had any issues.
YET slash later started claiming that he and duff had been forced by axl into signing the contract! this sadly is another case of slash's self-serving lies. in his book, he admits that his lawyers and those of slash and duff were haggling over the details of ownership which shows everything was legit.
@paintbala4life75, also a forced contract would never hold up in court anyway but a decade of litigation later, axl rigtfully continues to own the GNR name because he paid slash & duff whatever they negotiated for through their lawyers.
by the way, the details of this contract are tricky. all old GNR material (songs, licensing rights etc) are co-owned by axl, slash and duff.
@paintbala4life75,the only thing that axl has exclusive control over is newGNR material(Chinese Democracy onwards).
in 2005, slash/duff sued axl to remove his ownership of the old material-his own songs! lovely gesture, right?
as for the "dictatorship" claim, Gilby said that BOTH axl & duff were against slash's insistence that his tape (which became Its 5 o clock Somewhere) should be the next GNR album. thats 2 out of 3 decision-makers but slash got angry at this. so who was dictating whom?

Once slash left, and Duff shortly after, the original band is dead. It is a completely new band, no longer the true GNR. @nunezl6 performance wise - the ability to play the material live, these guys are way tighter. buckethead was the best of them all. nightrain will always be best with bucket doing his solo.
Axl is the best frontman ever. He still got it. Can't wait to see him live next year, it'll be a dream coming true. I'm also a fan pof Bumblefoot, Tommy and Dizzy so it'll be fucking great.
That said, I can't stand Ashba and Frank Ferrer. I wish Brain was still their drummer.
Well, he didn't write any of the songs he's playin. I loved Finck's work on Chin.Dem. so I wish I could see him playing it. I think Finck's best work on his entire carreer is the guitar solo of "This I Love". And now DJ is playing it, he joined the band this year and he gets to play Finck's finest piece. This constant change of members suck. And it'll delay release of new material, cause Axl will probably want to have DJ on the next album.

Band's tighter, sound is better (this part due technical evolution in the last 20 years I guess, to be fair) and Axl sounds better - he now can pull of his mean voice and his ballad voice as he wants, hits notes, can hold them ... he improved technically very much. And in 2009 he regained his intensity. Couldn't say that in 2006...
I'll give him this: he's quit smoking, reduced the booze intake, and is probably overall a healthier person, which is what allows him to put on a 3 hr show at 47 yrs of age and still sound like this. He sounds very, very close to those UYI glory days

fact is GNR's line-up was always changing from the start. this IS a band-13 out of 14 songs on Chinese Democracy were co-written with the other guys.

When trixie picked up izzie and axl, it took almost no time at all for him to be kicked out and replaced by slash who brought steven and duff. GNR at that point was nothing. @paintbala4life75, sorry youre wrong. the first line up of GUNS N ROSES(not hollywood rose/LA Guns) was Axl, izzy, Traci Guns, Rob Gardner & Ole Beich.
contrary to what u claim, this lineup played a few gigs & did not dissolve instantly. songs like Youre Crazy, Anything Goes, Back off Bitch, Think About You were all written before slash was even in.
the comparison with scott weiland doesnt apply. without scott's lyrics, those songs wont exist but without slash, the songs i mentioned did exist.

Izzy left BECAUSE of axl, and him always showing up late to shows and causing full out riots for no reason. Slash left because AXL never showed up to rehearsals or recordings, treated the rest of the band like hired hands, and wanted them to sign over name rights as well as individual contracts that give Axl the right to kick them

ure wrong on izzy- he left for a number of reasons besides axl: he was uncomfortable with how big GNR had gotten.he was clean himself & as he has said,he didnt want to hang around with slash/duff's ridiculous substance abuse. but u have nothing to say about that, do u? ho can u when its all an anti-axl story with u.

@paintbala4life75,slash's statements for why he left change with his convenience. hes contradicted himself so often, hard to believe a word that comes out of his mouth now.
in the early 90's he said musical differences played a huge role. in his book in 2007, he said they werent a big deal. he claims axl never came to recordings etc, yet duff talked about the "lost album" that GNR were working on when slash quit & 7 songs were already completed! slash's best friend marc canter verified this.

in slash's book, he admits that there were 6 serious discussions among the other band members about firing axl from GNR. axl wasnt willing to be a sitting duck &get thrown out of the band that HE started. so in order to protect himself, he made an agreement with slash & duff (the only other co-owners of the GNR name by then after steven and izzy's exit) and WITH THEIR CONSENT, axl got ownership of the GNR name.

@paintbala4life75, this contract was made in 1992 and as slash admits in his book, it was put in Escrow till 1995. slash and duff had 3 years to challenge the contract if they had any issues.
YET slash later started claiming that he and duff had been forced by axl into signing the contract! this sadly is another case of slash's self-serving lies. in his book, he admits that his lawyers and those of slash and duff were haggling over the details of ownership which shows everything was legit.

by the way, the details of this contract are tricky. all old GNR material (songs, licensing rights etc) are co-owned by axl, slash and duff.

in 2005, slash/duff sued axl to remove his ownership of the old material-his own songs! lovely gesture, right?
as for the "dictatorship" claim, Gilby said that BOTH axl & duff were against slash's insistence that his tape (which became Its 5 o clock Somewhere) should be the next GNR album. thats 2 out of 3 decision-makers but slash got angry at this. so who was dictating whom?

also, duff said that the lost album GNR were working on before slash quit was to have no ballads-another sign of "dictator" axl showing flexibility. he loves ballads but deferred to slash/duff's choice instead.
this IS GNR. GNR changed members before.why different rules for slash & duff? gilby & matt had creative differences with izzy & steven. why was that accepted?

Axl is the best frontman ever. He still got it. Can't wait to see him live next year, it'll be a dream coming true. I'm also a fan pof Bumblefoot, Tommy and Dizzy so it'll be fucking great.
That said, I can't stand Ashba and Frank Ferrer. I wish Brain was still their drummer.

Well, he didn't write any of the songs he's playin. I loved Finck's work on Chin.Dem. so I wish I could see him playing it. I think Finck's best work on his entire carreer is the guitar solo of "This I Love". And now DJ is playing it, he joined the band this year and he gets to play Finck's finest piece. This constant change of members suck. And it'll delay release of new material, cause Axl will probably want to have DJ on the next album.
And DJ looks like a fucking pussy.

I'm starting to think so. Band's tighter, sound is better (this part due technical evolution in the last 20 years I guess, to be fair) and Axl sounds better - he now can pull of his mean voice and his ballad voice as he wants, hits notes, can hold them ... he improved technically very much. And in 2009 he regained his intensity. Couldn't say that in 2006...

I'll give him this: he's quit smoking, reduced the booze intake, and is probably overall a healthier person, which is what allows him to put on a 3 hr show at 47 yrs of age and still sound like this. He sounds very, very close to those UYI glory days
