Just as if Uematsu wanted to put as in nostalgic mood, and suddenly in a culminative point slap us in a face and remind that this is KEFKA. Not some emo-villain-with-dark-past-wanting-to-reshape-world-in-his-image or other bullshit. He just wants to destroy every freakin thing and in 3:04 breaks out all of his insanity, hatred, evil, all of them sealed by legendary laugh. This game is fantastic.

In the days when the SNES was widely played, Final Fantasy 6 was ported to the American public as Final Fantasy 3. Yes, I have a SNES. Yes, I have FF6 (FF3 by the cartridge) for it. Final Fantasy 3, the one you referenced, was never released out of Japan at that time.
TL;DR: FF6 was called FF3 because the real FF3 was not released out of Japan.

Man....the beginning is so bad ass it makes me feel so pumped like "hell yea, I can beat this guy! Gimme you're best shot!" but then when 1:55 rolls around, it's so depressing. It makes me feel like I should just give up hope. Like, maybe I can't actually beat this guy.... it's very interesting. Deffinatly one of the best final boss themes of all time

@hootllum Why not try getting it on an online shopping site? Someone will be selling it somewhere. I got mine years ago but I've got the PS1 release. There's also the GBA remake. But if you mean the original on SNES then, yeah, I'd emulate it.
@MAYFLY01 sadly i'm devoid the luxury of getting the GBA remake because I sold my GBA to buy a stupid DSI :\ and it dosen't have the backwards compatability so that's out of the question. Plus my ps2 is old now and won't play ps1 games anymore. I'm probably gunna try to get the original SNES version. I looked for some on ebay and there are a few that arn't too expensive. If not i'll just emulate the GBA version (as much as I don't want to) XD. Would you say the GBA version is better?

@hootllum you can get the playstation remake final fantasy anthology it also comes with V and it has no changes to it the graphics and sound are exactly the same as on the snes version its pretty cheap also
@hootllum Not flamed, just get strongly recommended to get an SNEs/PS1 or GBA and find a used copy of the game and play the heck out of it. It is one of the best if not the best in the series. This and Chrono Trigger (same consoles except a DS instead of a GBA, also worth a play if you haven't) is what made me fall in love with the genre. My two most favorites.

Get it on emulator if nothing else. I just started playing the SNES version a few days ago, the only ones ive played are 7 -13 and tactics.
I feel like an absolute dipshit for skipping 6. IMO it's the only one as good as 7, but if you're the type who hated 7, then it'll probably be the best one you ever played when you get into it.

His tower has been overcome, the warring triad defeated, his strongest incarnations beaten (tiers 1-3 and it's grand music); all that's left is himself. Life is meaningless in his eyes even his own life, that's the sadness; it's a concept he embraces fully even onto his defeat, so he dies laughing in the face of existence.

It's kinda sad think of Kefka, a character who is basically becomes a parody of life itself, to finally meet his doom in a world of lonely-ness. Even though that's the way he wanted it, it almost makes you feel bad for him...

And...to be blunt about it, the whole "evil" & "dark" distinction is something TJD005 made up. I don't buy it, either.
Sepiroth killed Aerith bc she had the light material and was the only one who was known to use it, she was a threat to him so he took care of the threat, thats what a dark one would do.

BTW if you don't already have the song files you can DL them from YT with VideoSlurp; just search for the video titles with it, go to them, then click on Video at the top of the prog. & go down to Download to MP3. It can't play YT vids because its Flash / browser are outdated, but it doesn't matter.
I guess I know what you mean, but its there for a reason. In the game, that's when God Kefka ascends from heaven to wreak havok on the party, while speaking his famous line. It doesn't match with the battle music, but it serves a very good purpose in making the last batte THAT more powerful.
I wonder if Sraphim Kefka had any influence on the soon to come Saphrim Sephiroth (Safer Sephiroth)?

@hootllum The depressing part is more in reference to Kefka than to the party members, a reflection of his own impending destruction, and laughing in the face of it. His tower has been overcome, the warring triad defeated, his strongest incarnations beaten (tiers 1-3 and it's grand music); all that's left is himself. Life is meaningless in his eyes even his own life, that's the sadness; it's a concept he embraces fully even onto his defeat, so he dies laughing in the face of existence.

Darkness does what it can to gain power, and eventually taints the world or end up destroying it, thats why light is there to prevent this, darkness does things for purposes.
Evil does what it does bc it can, evil is far worse than darkness. Evil has no purpose. Evil kills and destroys and finds pleasure out of it. Evil wants misery and pain to all things by destroying hopes, lives, and dreams, anything that makes bliss. Why? idk thats y evil is the way it is.

Frieza destroyed a world. Kefka just sped up Global Warming.
Anyway, the whole reasoning regarding Kefka/Sephiroth is a false dichotomy. Sephiroth is goal driven, yes. He is also sadistic & vengeful. He didn't have to kill Aerith to stop her from casting Holy. It probably wasn't even the easiest solution.
And...to be blunt about it, the whole "evil" & "dark" distinction is something TJD005 made up. I don't buy it, either.

Sepiroth killed Aerith bc she had the light material and was the only one who was known to use it, she was a threat to him so he took care of the threat, thats what a dark one would do.
An evil one probably Kefka would have her killed her just because he wanted to or bc he had the power to and laughed about it.

.....I came here to learn about Kefka bc ive never played FFV. All I keep reading is Sepiroth... People like Sepiroth bc of his outlook. Gkatana and black suit looks kick ass. But the crazy ones r worse. Sepiroth is dark, he cares no one but himself, his heart is cold, and he desires power, dark ones usually fails to light. Kefka is evil, once evil gains power it causes misery of anguish to all, evil usually succeeds.
Being Evil one or being Dark one are 2 different types of villan.

BTW if you don't already have the song files you can DL them from YT with VideoSlurp; just search for the video titles with it, go to them, then click on Video at the top of the prog. & go down to Download to MP3. It can't play YT vids because its Flash / browser are outdated, but it doesn't matter.

I guess I know what you mean, but its there for a reason. In the game, that's when God Kefka ascends from heaven to wreak havok on the party, while speaking his famous line. It doesn't match with the battle music, but it serves a very good purpose in making the last batte THAT more powerful.
