@idontuploadjustwatch ikr i always go in competitions where everyone is shooting compounds and i whip out my homeade oak recurve the arrow rest is a spike i jammed in the belly and the string is the tendon from a deer and i finish 1st in 7 competitions and i attended 12 :)
@thomasnbishop I recommend starting on a bow you can comfortably pull and hold up. As you get stronger its your choice of bow.. hehe I've instructed big strong adults with InterNature 20 pound recurve's for the simple matter of teaching form without them straining to hold the bow still at full draw :-)
I tried to pull a 100 pound longbow to early and ended up worse then the 80 pound one I was exercising on,
it almost felt like the bow was going to launch me instead of the arrow lol
i have the new 2011 mathews craze and it is the most adjustable bow on the market. i love it. 19" to 30" draw length and 15 to 70 lbs draw weight. i freakin love it.
@LaCatHunter i dont know man. it might just be the angle of the camera. but then again some people think my draw length is an inch too long for me. but i like it, i find it nice and comfortable for me because i like to lock my realese hand with thumb and forefinger to the back of my jaw and touch the realese aid trigger with my middle finger. i do this because im confident that with my hand locked in it wont move up, down or sideways with the realese even the smallest movement could throw off
I'm thinking about bowhunting this fall for deer, do you have any recommendations as to brand of bow or draw weight? (I'm about 150lbs, 5'11", really fit, 18 yr old girl).
@NatureLover987 Its the best your bow is coated with camouflage paint. PSE, Bowtech, Quest, these bows are good for bowhunting, i dont know what your draw length will be, it depends on the length of your arms, they will help you at a local archery shop with that. 45 pounds is the minimum draw weight for deer, me myself pull 65 pounds. you are gonna need hunting broadheads, camouflage, blinds or a treestand an you are ready to harvest some deer. good luck, enjoy your hunt, i know i will.
@NatureLover987 he doesnt no what hes talking about those brands are alright but hoyt and mathews are best and its 40 pounds not 45 legally and since your just starting you should get a ground blind not a tree stand
BAH compound bows are too much for me... Personally i stick to the humble Recurve and Longbow when i do my archery... IM deadly accurate from about 60 yards (psst im only 14 and im kinda near sighted and i dont use sights) ...But i have glasses...they get in the way sometimes i have a small longbow... but im kinda small im only about 5.3" >.>
its true ahwhile ago 40 pounds was hard for most kids.. thank god i wasnt one of em XD i tagged a trophy buck i dont know.. 10 years ago? i got it stuffed and im sitting under it right now
I moved from Nassau Co. NY to Georgia a few years ago and thought someone had redirected me to Africa..... Recently took a trip to Wisconsin and realized the upper midwest is where all the white folks escaped to..
I'd hunt her

funny, I learned on a recurve without sites.. learning with sites isnt a good idea if you want to get in to archery.... not technology...
10 years in archery now, I'm using a 100 pound draw english longbow.. no shelf, no sites, no quick release
