look chief was on reach when the covenant attacked he helped defend the orbital defence shields on the planet and then returned to the pillar of autumn where he was put in chryostasis and then the ship flees the planet and randomly jumps into slipspace while the planet is glassed and the arbiter then the fleet admiral orders all ships near his to follow his ship in persuit of the pillar of autumn leading to the halo ring.

@CMakaveli91 In the books he actually fights against the Covenant with his battle group, he withdraws in the Pillar of Autumn when the Covenant begin to glass Reach en masse pushing the human forces back. This analysis does little justice as although they have the trivia down regarding James, they fall short on the timeline as to why would they have Spartans coming in when the Spartans are leaving, it's all confusing, but I'm sure you know all of this and I'm just rambling.

You can hear Buck form Halo ODST say, "What the Hell was that?" When the plasma bombardment happens. In ODST he says he was at Reach when the carnage begain, so does Captain Dare. Maybe we will see them in the game, but probably not play as them.

doesnt ANYONE realise that john, linda, kelly, fred, etc were spartan II's??? Spartan I's were a very secretive project that failed. Spartan III's were the less expensive easier to kill ones that were sent to onyx.

did ign really do this? its got some innacuracys, no second waves of spartan 2's were ever trained, there were spartan 3's but they were on onyx, they wouldn't be on reach because spartan 3's are classified, and they wouldn't be loitering on some planet. and i think he's saying nova one, and if you read first strike, their was a prototype bomb called the nova bomb that was a really destructive nuke. supposedly enough to kill life on a planet, that would be important

Bungie has room to make up a new second wave that was also classified. It's not like it would ruin the whole story of Halo. Like I said - room for expantion. Who knows, no-one will 'till the game comes out next year. :)

nope. there wouldn't be anymore spartan 2's that were classified. and if they're were they would have been trained early on, they wouldn't be untrained at this point. besides. the story was already set about reach. there are 3 books about it, and if bungie changes it, then all of a sudden you got 4 books that aren't true anymore. then all this stuff that was made from the franchise is not accurate. and there is a lot of stuff pertaining to those 3 books about reach. bad idea for bungie

OK, John is the Master Chief. He's on the space platform at this time a hundred something miles above Reach. Kelly is with Fred probably freefalling to Reach's surface. I have no knowledge of a Ben, and most importantly, this event doesn't take place until after the Covenant Schism sometime in November of 2552, three months after Reach.

your retarted halo 2 cannot possibly happen the same time as halo reach, maby during the aftermath of reaches destruction but not during the same time, also when reach was attacked it was in fact attacked before the events of halo ce, but when john escaped into slipstream the attack of reach was still going and actually halo ce officially starts after the pillar of autum gets to halo so the battle of reach would almost be over by then due to the glassing of the planet.

@ShadesCodChannel and get your facts straight before looking like an idiot on here. the fall of reach starts well before the mastercheif arrives there with his squad to under go a risky space operation in august 30 2552 while the discovery of halo starting the halo event happened in september 19 2552, and october 20 2552 is when regret accidentily attacked earth, reach is already glassed and destroyed the battle is over

And bungie even said that Halo: Reach takes place in early 2552 and on Halo: Reach's official wiki page it says that it takes place right after Combat evolved and some missions are during halo 2 not during the entire halo 2 game but early on in the game.

The Spartan II's were never deployed until after reach was destroyed. Secondly, the Spartan numbers went over 300 because there were over 300 Spartan candidates. Over half of the Spartans died during training or during the biological 'upgrades'.

close, spartans were deployed in 2525, when they were 14, they were operating long before reach, like a few decades. there were150 canidates, only half could be paid for, so thats 75 spartan canidates in the end, i think it was 32 spartans that made it, 12 were cripped, and the rest died, nobody died during training

@ShadesCodChannel There are many idoits who beleive that Reach is after/before Combat Evolved when in fact they happen AT THE SAME TIME! Proof: At the beginning of Halo 2 when the Arbiter is explaining his fail of a mission, it shows a short clip of The Pillar of Autum jumping away from Reach with a couple THOUSAND Covenant ships fucking Glassing the planet. Plus in teh books it explains how MC was fighting teh Covanent at Reach (or moar specifically above Reach) before he left.
