  • I want to be in coast guard...but I cant swim.Oh well.

  • In greece our coast guard knows only how to give tickets to scooters :P kidding we're good :)

  • @coastguardrescues

What was the music you started at 2:36?

  • Coast Guard is nothing but life guards with guns.

  • @duncan7599 Totally....what a bunch of assholes. How dare they think they should risk their lives for people who dont know how to drive a boat or swim!

  • @duncan7599 haha you do realize the CG does police duties at sea and also deploys to combat its not the navy who landed the troops in WWII but CG did it CG are much more than life guards

  • I do this all the time at Hawaii on vacation

  • @Rangerleadtheway44 fuck off im sure your in 10 degree pools getting pushed by military to your limetes and furthur

  • how do you join rescue swimmer a school? process? can some one give me more info please?

  • I'd like to join the coast guard, I'm certified in scuba diving also. And love the water. But I don't know, I would hate to move around from coast to coast.

  • @PainandMotivation

It's under AST (Aviation Service Technician). I'm also considering joining.

  • does anyone know where exactly in the website is the rescue swimmer? the uscg website? i go to law school and want to join the coast guard when i graduate. but i want to be a rescue swimmer

  • This training is as hard as all of the training. they all play roles in keeping all of us alive. i am a lifeguard and i do a hell of a lot of practise to see if i can beat records they have achieved and im not even close yet. but i am determined to beat them and then i will join. they need more respect they all do not just combat oriented

  • h t t p : / / coastguard . dodlive . mil /2011/03/coast-guard-helps-rescue-marines-from-downed-helicopter/

Coast guard rescues four marine off the coast in honolulu

  • Im irish but ever since 3 generations of my family drowned off our coast in a storm I always new i wanted to be the one in the water to save people who otherwise would have drowned and when i saw the role that the coast guard rescue swimmer plays in the united states coast guard i knew in my heart thats what i wanted to do, i have already applied for greencard sponsorship, i plan on serving the american people as a rescue swimmer, its all i want in life, i want to be an AST more than anything.

  • @Lifebuilder1993 why dont you join the irish coast guard?

  • because me and my girlfriend want to live in a country that isnt torn apart by sectarianism, we want to live in a country where their people are under one flag, 3 months ago my cousin was blown up in a car bomb just for being in the garda, and apart from that i have always wanted to join the american coast guard as they have the exact job i want in life.

  • @Lifebuilder1993 Good kid.. I'm sure your family is proud of you. God bless you.

  • @msakallioglu and god bless you to my friend, truth be told they think im crazy hehe either way im gonna be out there no matter what, the worst part is waiting for the green card when i know i could be out there already :(

  • @Lifebuilder1993 hopefully you'll get it soon.. some people wait for 2 years or more.. I hope it'll be sooner for you. Good luck mate...

  • @msakallioglu yea but like i said the only thing thats holding me back is trying to gain alien residency and thats easier said than done, the wait is killing me hehe, thanks for your support.

  • @Lifebuilder1993 im irish aswell you know our coast gaurd has a small number of rescue swimmers

  • @Lifebuilder1993 i dont even know you but im incredibly proud and honored to welcome you to america, youll make this country a better place :P

  • @Kevwardusa hey thanks bud, it means alot to be accepted like that, i also wish you all the best in whatever you wish to achieve in life also :)

  • See you guys when I join in 3 years!

  • Loves me my Coasties!!!!!!

  • lol, at the end it's more like he's trying to drawn him than save him! :D

  • @HeyImChance so...im from illinois and i swim 4 hours a day at my swim team.

  • my uncle trained with them , mexican navy lt juarez =D

  • I wanna be a swimming man but i live in macon illinois....

  • I've been out for almost 20 years, and was in for 4 active, 4 reserve, but to be honest, other than the usual kidding from our brothers in the Navy, I have NEVER had anyone disrespect the Coast Guard. In fact, Marines have gone out of their way to compliment us, and civilians frankly act like every Coastie is a rescue-swimmer. So, to be fair, I think we (speaking as a veteran) receive the respect we deserve. When you say "US Coast Guard", people think "Special". it's true.

  • gonna join in 3 years when i graduate and be a D.O.G :D

  • im going in as a RESCUE SWIMMER right now at the age of 17!

parents signed release forms and everything!

i passed the try outs to be a rescue swimmer too, so i guess if theres anyone out there that cant wait to be in the coast gaurd............. right now JOIN a swimteam! a strong one! itll pay off

  • @joey62978 Congrats Joey! - It takes hard work, discipline, teamwork and communication. ASM school is 18 weeks and is located at USCG Support Center/Airsta Elizabeth City, NC. This is where they filmed portions of the movie "The Guardian" as well.

I was in from 82' to 95' as a 'BM' as a small boat coxswain (lots of SAR) and I have deep respect for these guys. Hope the best for you.... don't have too much fun in boot camp!

  • @joey62978 you wont be a rescue swimmer until after 8 weeks of boot camp... 1 year of promotion to be an E3 and also 6 months at an air station, 6 months of A school and EMT training, and Hellicopter basic Air crewmen for 2-4 months.

  • @joey62978 good to see your motivation sir.

  • ive seen harder swim training at the YMCA.

  • I just finished my second day of A school. I've never been pushed so hard. If my body will hold out, I intend to finish the training, but there are no guarantees. Two guys have already dropped out. Both were good men. Navy Seals are great, as are all the other special forces groups. I don't think the comparison of combat personnel and rescue personnel is valid--the missions are too different. But one thing is the same: Most people simply couldn't do it.

  • @silverstar1865

is it hard to acces the a-school?

  • @Tago1991

I almost quit today. Our class of 13 is down to 5. These weren't flabbies who dropped either. I don't blame them one bit. I was a division 1 collegiate swimmer--and this is much, much harder (so suck it Anark).

As to your question, the answer is yes and no. No, it's not hard to get into A-school you just have to be a competitive candidate. But of course that's the trick. It's no easy thing to be competitive.

Day 4 is over. Thank God.

  • on avarage how much saves does one rescue swimmer make every year

  • on avarage how much saves does one rescue swimmer make??

  • wow why is everyone fighting about witch military branch is better just enjoy the video.

  • The Coast Guard is so hard to get into because they would rather have you get desperate, join a different branch and get killed overseas. Power in numbers is definitely true when we are at war.

  • Ok why is everyone fighting on here, Rescue Swimmers are hardcore, ppl might call them puddle pirates, but wait until your capsized under a boat, and here comes a rescue swimmer with those 5 words, im here to help you. All spec ops communties endure the hardcore training in the pool. BUT, USAF pararescue is very, very challenging, one of the hardest, but they all do one thing save lives...

  • Former coastie here thanks for posting

  • "make them physically do things they don't want them to do" 1:34 XD

  • respect from hellenic coast guard guys (greece here)!!!

  • ühm_Ì_fëel_sÓ_lØNêlY_tõDáy

  • I just CANNOT wait to get to bootcamp! I know its crazy thing to say, but god I love the coast guard!

  • As an outsider i must say i have alot of respect for the Rescue swimmers and Coast guard in general, and Army has some bad asses but mostly when it comes to air force all you hear about is how they bombed something or picked up the soldiers, but pj's as you call them seem cool.

On a side note these guys cant call off a rescue if there is bad weather or fog so dont see a reason to point fingers saying they are worse then parajumpers both branches do there jobs to the best of there ability's.

  • i hate when people try to compare one branch to the other. we are all fighting for the same thing. each branch deserves just as much appreciation as the other and no one branch is better than the other. we devote our time to help keep this country safe along with the people that live here. i thank everyone in the military no matter what branch they are in or what their job is in that branch. you do what most people do not have the balls to do... thank you

  • oh man, i can tell who is and isnt, might bes and wont bes, just by reading some of these ridiculous comments, if you honestly believe what your saying in this "Behind the computer" argument.

  • I like how people shit on all the branches instead of being grateful that there are people willing to save our lives or defend our freedom.Semper Paratus Always ready- So that others may live.

  • Colo are you kidding me? Try to recover a bridge Jumpers body on a Sunday morning right as youre about to eat breakfast or go into a burning boat and see burned bodies while looking for any survivors. Then come talk to me about being in the coast guard

  • @colo250, yeah, it must be nice doing PT once a year in the air force. HARDCORE!!

  • I really want to do this. All I want to do is save lives. I will be joining DEP when I'm seventeen. If anyone can contact me and discuss this with me (I'd rather talk to enlisted instead of a recruiter) please email me. Rryanp1116@yahoo.com

  • Colo250 just stop trolling, anybody can say what they want about the CG online but go ahead and go to your nearest CG unit and tell that to them. You diabetes the AF by slandering the other branches..

  • United States Coast Guard all the way!!! Semper Paratus!!!! We love you Coast Guard. We respect you! Your are the brave men and women who risk their lives to save others lives!!!

  • coast guard i for weak people... air force is the shit

  • @colo250 Ok, I will bite (even though you are an obvious troll-I'm going to teach you something). The Air Force is a joke. The Coast Guard actually has the second hardest boot camp (only second to my motivated USMC).

The Air Force is an lax overpriced joke.

  • @clt19111

air force PT might not be as hard as other branches, but its harder to get into, especially officers, we have Army and Air Force ROTC at my college, as long as you meet the minimum requirements, you're good to go in the Army, but the Air Force only has a 45% acceptance rate this year, and that doesnt includes those who quit before the end of their sophomore year, i find out at the end of March whether or not im in that 45%, i have a 3.9 GPA and i still worry.

  • @clt19111 look up some of the militaries toughest jobs. The airforce will be there. You are probly a wanna be soldier. Get your facts right asshole

  • @25Yankeesfan Rather, I encourage you to do so. I have nothing but respect for those in the Para-rescue and Combat Control fields. However, if you honestly think that the Air Force as a whole is "tough", than you are delusional.

And for the record, I am a Marine (the very notion of being a "wanna be" soldier is laughable). I would ask if you are actually military rather than an e-thug, but your obvious lack of intelligence and grammar answers that question for me.

  • @clt19111 FINALLY SOMEONE WHO IS ACTUALLY MILITARY!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @clt19111 USAF is not a joke, pararescue is the hardest military training in the world, look up the story of combat controller John A. Chapman, and USAF Pararescueman Jason D. Cunningham, hope this changes your mind. Im not picking on anyone though, i love all branches.

  • @Herpmaster1 I believe you misunderstood my net logic. There is a comment (somewhere here) where I state that I have nothing but respect for those in the para-rescue and combat control fields. That being said, I do believe that the REST of the Air Force is far weaker than other branches.

  • Comment removed

  • @stevo0303 moron im in the air force.... when i said air force is the shit it meant its the best

  • @colo250 and if your in the USAF, you will have the integrity not to be like that, and not be big headed, im a cadet, 15, and if i said stuff like that ill get kicked out.

  • @Herpmaster1 lol ur a boy, when u become a man and work at the real military then we can talk, until play battlefield little boy

  • @colo250 wtf, im 15, and i dont play or have xbox, or playstation or whatever, i know 5 people currently in service, and one of my friends died over seas, like i said, im not mocking you or anything, thank you for your service, but why you acting up like the way you are, ive never seen a service member talk to someone else like that, other service members give me advice and motivation to join, and share there expirience, your just disapointing.

  • @colo250 dude shut up coast guard is apart of the milatary that keeps u safe if it werent for them karea would have got away with taking the nukes and thousands of people would have been dead without them i bet you would be crying of pain if u tried doing what they do

  • @sk8er101000 being in the coast guard is like being a pool lifeguard, its not hard and easy pay.... I may be joining because its so easy

  • @colo250

If you're going to join because its so easy than why aren't you competing in the Olympics? Oh yeah, thats right, you're just a fat virgin for life that knows how to piss people off on the internet. Let the people who want to live lives of purpose do the talking. Hurry up, you're next porn video is almost done downloading.

  • @virginmobile328 a person who calls another a virgin is because he himslef is a virgin and you brought the porn watching because obvioulsly you watch porn constatnt because u don't have a woman to do it for you, you fat white piece of shit

  • @colo250 LOL. See you in A school my friend. Oh yeah thats right, you won't be there. I'd love to meet you and allow you to reconsider your statement of me being fat.

  • @virginmobile328 I bet u don't bench 350 like I do virgin.... go play CoD in your room and act tough playing online

  • @colo250 takes skill and bravery to be in the coast guard, anyone can be in the air force

  • @RobT6272 And I don't think a lot of people would consider a 6000 meter swim a piece of cake, but I bet the guys that make it through "A School" might. And yea I know PJ Pipeline is 2 years in length, at least when your in, but in truth you start training in some cases for it your whole life up to entering the service, even if you don't know it.

  • @RobT6272 Yea I know. I am not worried. These guys soul purpose is to swim and I show them respect is all. I was mostly making a point to say that not all PJs/PJ soon to be's are not in agreement with the other guy that is a "PJ"

  • Man these guys are nuts. I am in the training to be a PJ and am good in the water but nothing compared to these guys, they are beasts. Mad respect. Come save me when I drown.

  • @KHoover44 Interesting Statement, in that many parts of the USA, the PJ is the rescue swimmer. Don't get me wrong "A School" is no cake walk and I tip my hat to them. Look up a storm called the "Perfect Storm"....the men that died in that rescue was a PJ. I am not sure many people would consider a 6000 meter swim a piece of cake...especially when it comes after a 6 mile run, a 60 minute workout, followed by water con training, Have you forgotten that the PJ training is 2 yrs in length?

  • I am a Reconnaissance Marine and a certified Combat Water Safety Swimmer for any of you that think this training is easy have never trained 8 hours a day 6 days a week in an aquatic environment I say SHUT YOUR FUCKING MOUTHS and GO PLAY YOUR VIDEO GAMES. This isn't your typical summer day at the town pool fingering Mary Jane Rotten Crotch all while rubbing your wanker against the pressurized water return.

  • why is everybody hatin on the different branches we all serve our country

  • Also as a side note. Everyone should should watch the Military Channel. They have amazing specials on the SPECops training of the Green Barets, PJs, Rangers, and Seals. I've seen each one and think that the SEALs training is probably the toughest. "Hell Week" looks absolutely excurciating. But, big props to all the SPECops guys. You all are amazing. If you are interested in what the SEALs endure check out the books the Warrior Elite and my personal favorite the Lone Survivor. AMAZING

  • To anyone who can provide a little personal info: Is there an age limit for joining the AST? I am 30 y/o civilian EMT looking to put my skills to use with the CG. I need something that is more phsically challenging and adventurous. Also, does anyone work in the reserves that has any input about the duties they perform and whether they're gain valuable knowledge. Can you work in search and rescue as a reserve.

    Thanks

  • Keep up the good work! We are PROUD OF YOU! It takes special people to do the brave work you do. Thank You!!

  • i would be good at the water part but the dry land looks tough i would wreck the swimming part in half plus ur jumping out of choppers but i suck at diving at high distances

  • Do u have to have a certain high school swimming time because ima high school swimmer and my times for the 100 free is 1:05 and my 50 free is 28 and my 100 bk is 1:18 and will it help you in this training cuz i wanna possibly do this not the best but my knees injured and i gained alot of time

  • I wanna be a rescue swimmer but i recently had surgery on shoulder its healing good and not stiff or anything will they still let me sign up?

  • @bozermoose Not unless your fully healed and can move you shoulder with ZERO problemsand untill you can put stress on it from the 5000 push ups you'll do.

  • Why did some of them have to wait 2 years to get there?

  • @Arodblade that's the wait time for A school in the Coast Guard typically. The popular schools are backed up about 2 or so years

  • these men have a difficult job to and a dangerous one. can anybody out there who has been a rescue swimmer tell me if u saw the movie" the guardian" does this movie even come close to what really goes on out there? If you havent seen the movie you outta watch it. Kevin Costner, Ashton Kutcher both play great roles. and why do the seals and navy get so fired up over these men and compare theirselves, is it because the coast guard isnt combat oriented???

  • if i wanted to be a diver would i have to move around or would i be able to stay in one place?

  • @ollietheocta you'd have to move around, rescue swimmer and dive lockers arent reserve billets. If you want to stay in one place, the reserves are what you want to look at.

  • @silvert00 ok thanks for the info. you wouldnt happen to know what dive jobs wouldnt require me to move around all that much would you?

  • Comment removed

  • @ollietheocta our HS swim team needs a diver we have one but he just started most teams in our Conference have dive teams among the swimmers but can u dive?

  • Why does there have to be a best branch? why can't people just respect the fact that all branches deserve respect? I think the coast guard is the most disrespected branch. I've heard many people say things like "they just sit around and do nothing" or that "they do the same work as the other branches". "Noone really appreciates us till they need us". Respect all military, they'll give their lives for you.

  • @check5for5 I totally agree know one respects them until they are being rescued by them in 50 ft waves I have the upmost respect for the CG :)

  • @check5for5 I agree well said

  • i agree with you

  • i was thinking about joining the coast gaurd...im not really interested in going to alaska, so would it be possible to stay within your state? example; i live in nyc so would i be able to stay in ny?.....thanks

  • @sparklerbombg We aren't recruiting for active right now from what i've heard... sounds like the reserves would be the way to go for you if you want to stay in NY, we always need good reservists.

  • nice almost everyday its push ups

  • respect

  • man its gonna be tough but.. i think i got what it takes to be a rescue swimmer, i cant wait to join the coast guard

  • @haloher0 good luck man ok, and let us know how u do, god bless u man for even wanting to try. i hope you succeed with this.

  • Ever heard of Astoria, Oregon's Maritime Museum? It really shows off the Coast Guard. Look up "Historic Astoria."

  • Comment removed

  • can you enlist as a a rescue swimmer or do you have to wait 2 years?

  • @iAREanthonyyy you enlist as a seaman recruit. Upon graduation from boot camp you can apply for Aviation Survival Technician School. If you're accepted, it can take up to two years before you actually start the school.

  • I am wanting to do this!!

  • @PRchica101 why would u even consider if your a women

  • @lechodemeista what does that have to do with it? Woman can do this even though its less common, I am a really strong swimmer was on swim teams for like 10 years, personal trainer so I am able to handle vigorous conditioning and lifeguard certified worked on Miami Beach for two summers so I have already had training with deep diving and dealing with under tows and rough surf.

  • @PRchica101 more like VERY uncommon, if most physically and mentally strong men cant do this i cant imagine that a woman would be able to pass A school. but hey nothings impossible

  • @lechodemeista Just wanted to point out that there are women rescue swimmers in the Coast Guard...I should know I'm in the Coast Guard. The standards for entrance into A school are gender blind....if that person can meet the high expectations and physical standards, they are given a chance.

  • @Kat101991 : Hey, good for you Kat, I didn't know that. When I was in (late 80s, early 90s) I don't think they had any female rescue swimmers..>Semper Paratus, always and forever !

  • alright someone explain to me why their shirts are ripped off in the end...or at least dangling...

    tis hot.

  • wow, just finish watching that movie, very GOOD!!!!

  • im going in coast gaurd soon im pretty excited lol this looks fun lol

  • how difficult is A school?

  • @lechodemeista verryy

  • pararesuce motto is "that others may live", end of story.

  • can anybody tell me if officers can be rescue swimmers???????

  • wow. mad respect for these guys.

  • Free inexhaustible energy is real! But the powerfull Oil business won't alow common ppl to know this,Find a motor that needs no fuel or input at LT-MAGNET-MOTORdotCOM ,Be part of the revolution!

  • @ThePJforlife dude u need to get a life after this im dont talking to u cause see i like to do things with these things called friends. First off the Admiral for the coast guard is Thad Allen. Second off the swimmers were around in the begining of the 1900's and they would go out it in boats not helos. But why is it u consistently say shit about the motto. Who gives a fuck its a motto. Its about what they r doing. Believe what both groups do is amazing.

  • USAF PARARESCUE MOTTO= THAT OTHERS MAY LIVE

Stolen motto of the C.G. SWIMMERS- SO OTHERS MAY LIVE.

Changing ONE WORD does NOT give you honor,

And this training is SOOO easy GIRLS PASS. 5 months total and 2 weeks of med training.and most of the training is in a pool, It takes longer then 2 weeks to get a boyscout merit badge.

  • @ThePJforlife lots of military organizations use the phrase, "so others may live" ...lots. I'm not saying you are wrong, but im just saying that if the coast guard can't use it, tell all the others to quit as well.

  • @ThePJforlife i'm training to become a combat controller in the air force. I've met a lot of air force special ops guys. A PJ would never talk the way your talking. I can determine based on your immaturity that you aren't and never will be a PJ, and are a total disgrace to the airforce. What coast guard rescue does is amazing, what PJ's and combat controllers do is also amazing. So stop the pathetic pissing contest your giving all the guys that actually do this stuff a bad name.

  • @ThePJforlife the swimmers didnt steal it, and they have nothing to do with it, so why dont you show some respect because the CG fights for the same flag you do

  • @bauerpower93 cause he or she is a stuck up liberal

  • PJ4life1 has been blocked.

  • @coastguardrescues just wait for it 6 more years till im out of highschool and ima be a swimming man

  • @PJ4life1 yea but that the day u get stuck out on a ship in a storm u well wish for us! I'm honored to be in the Coast Guard and to to be in the military..show some respect to your country!

  • @PJ4life1 I'm a girl and I'm pretty sure I could do some damage to your face.

  • @VintageAntique Your a girl.. the only thing you can do is cook and clean !

NOW GET BACK IN THE KITCHEN WHERE YOU BELONG ! :P

  • @PJ4life1 Great sexist comment you made there, jerk off.

  • the coast guard is a tough branch to join and to work in. their boot camp is no picnic. I think it deserves the utmost respect.

  • @PJ4life1 how insecure are you? get over yourself. SPEC OPS have killed people they were supposed to save. go die.

  • If you join the Coast Guard, what other positions are there besides rescue divers?

  • @cashroll24 ok, my homework consists reading mulitple books on both PJs and SEALs, INCLUDING the Warrior Elite, chatting with PJ instructors at Kirtland and talking to a guy who went through BUD/S...they ALL agreed on the only way to truly compare courses is to go through both, and in the end its still gunna be an opinion....not a fact, so calm the fuck down its only youtube...and go PT!

  • Im thinking bout Joining the Coast Guard or the AF or BP in February when I finish my masters degree dont know wish one would be better they are all awesome but I love the open sea so Im thinking CG :)

  • @PJ4life1 yeah you say that until your ass is drowning off the coast of alaska cuz you thought it would be a great idea to go fishing in your kayak when there's some giant swells thrashing out there.....call them assclowns when they throw your frozen, half dead lifeless corpse in the fucking basket you ignorant fuck

  • @PJ4life1 I highly doubt you are a PJ, most likely just a wannabe. You'll notice from the string of comments below that any military branch is respectful of one another as we all have served alongside each other at one point or another. We show respect for one another, whether it is USAF, Army, USMC, Navy, Coast Guard, Reserve, or even the Merchant Mariner. If you were military, I would be very saddened that the USAF's standards had become this low...

  • how long is the school?

  • @sc3n3cor3 17 weeks

  • I am going to have to do this, as i am the last of my family line and can't go into anything else.

  • @SolidscoreX I didn't know they still followed that rule, My ex was the last of his, but he joined Army and went to Iraq and everything

  • @SolidscoreX

you can do whatever you want. that law only applies with the draft.

  • @idancewithnopance The last time I checked, there were only 3-4 female rescue swimmers in the US Coast Guard.

  • People really don't respect coast guard rescue swimmers sometimes till they need them

  • They didn't show the girls because there are very few that get in it and there are very few that make it to the final faze of the training.

  • why are people comparing coast guard to seals and delta force? They are completely different fields grow the fuck up and step away from your call of duty mentalities for christ sake.

  • @Antonio865 thank you

  • @Antonio865 Amen

  • can officers fly the helicopters or go on the search and rescue missions
