  • Awww, Sonny's such a nice guy.

  • Lol. Go Adrienne! Jackson is so freakin cute. (I hate the name sonny-sounds like a mobster).

  • LOL "what is that like for you?" (answer: um I still have a son only now when I picture him getting married ....)

  • At least J & A admitted they were uneasy about it at times. It's realistic

  • I am not surprised by Victor's reaction. Considering what is going on in the world and what has happened with his family, a gay great nephew really doesn't matter much

  • First, I have to say that I love Adrienne. She is a mama bear, and you better not threaten her cub! And the conversation she and Justin had with Maggie was great. I especially loved how Maggie started with the question "What's that like for you?". No judgement, just an attempt to understand. Great reaction.

  • and yes i had tears in my eyes beautifully played by all involved i sort of came and went from days but with this story unfolding im back just saw alice's funeral and i cried but this is the start of the resurgance of Days Of Our Lives the new players Freddie and Chandler and Casey and Molly are fantastic but this is how days should be congrats to the cast for telling a positive and strong story WELL BLOODY DONE!

  • OMG i love it perfect its being handled with complete sensitivity as a gay man i wish i'd had support like that freddie smith is doing a great job and judi evans as well as wally kirth excellent but the gongs gotta go to suzanne rogers just all out class that lady i live in sydney australia we have 14mnths till this airs but im hooked cant wait for sonny and will and congrats to all involved from the writers to the actors this is what days is all about and kudos to nbc for approving this story

  • these were great scenes and realistic

  • yeah ok that wasn't that bad, it actually was realistic. Good job Days writers for nailing that one lol

  • I don't mind at all that's it kind of PSA-like. I think Days is a very middle America soap. Also? "Are you sure it's not a phase like wearing high top sneakers with suits?" Oh, Victor Kiriakis, you are a special man.

  • Am I the only one who have tears in my eyes the moment Sonny was hugged after coming out? :)

  • In that last scene it finally registered just what Maggie was wearing and I did a full body shudder. That is the most horrific top I've ever seen.

  • This show is as subtle as a sledgehammer but its so addictive

  • I actually thought 'Uncle Vic' handled it quite well. He took it better a lot of people . . .

  • This storyline is charming and the buys are easy on the eyes. But it is fascinating to see this in 2011 in the US while our European friends are so much more advanced. The Days storyline would suit us culturally if we were in 1990 perhaps. Still, I love to watch these guys smile. . .

  • the demographics are probably alot older for DOOL than some of the other soaps so I appreciate the educational manner in which his story is being introduced. It is the older guard that needs to GET it.

  • When did Days get good? I've always thought a lot of their storylines and acting was a bit choppy. I will miss AMC and OLTL but it is good to see a soap tackle the tough issues. I was really impressed with Sonny's coming out. We have to remember that this is daytime tv on a regular channel. Cant wait to watch more of this intriguing storyline.

  • Major kudos to Sonny's parents. It took them some time to get there with understanding and accepting. Victor's reaction was totally predictable and he comes from the old school. He does not have problems with Sonny being gay, he has problems with the stigma that some of people tend to put on gay people. It was presented with a lot of maturity.

  • makes sense Victor has really no issues with Sonny been gay, after all he HATES all the women who have ever been involved with his sons/grandsons etc maybe he might get on better with another man...

  • What's wrong with Sonny or his parents talking about Pflag. It was helpful to his parents when he came out.I think it was cool them being honest about when Sonny first came out they couldn't wrap their heads around it, or that Sonny knew since he was 5 when he saw those two cowboys 2gether on the curtains and said that's me.Sonny and Will would look really hot in Cowboy gear.

  • its encouraging as a child of this new generation to know that there are adults out there who understand that people don't choose to be gay its something that makes you unique

i don't know why anyone would choose to be gay just so they could be denied basic human rights, go through emotional suffering, and be basically outcasted by society

its just like when women were considered less than men or when blacks were treated so inhumanely

  • I think I might like this, I hope they don't do a typical Days and screw it up.

  • The most fun I've had watching was Viv in that coffin-The most joy has been by far has been Sonny being gay and out.Looking foward to how Will's part of this story is going to be handled.

  • @justmoijah Actually, my 6 year old brother said a while ago whilst I was watching Dinner Date with my mum (sad, I know, but there was a fit gay bloke on it), "Why if they're two men do they kiss?" So I guess he does know a bit about sexuality. Then again, he still calls me his brother (I'm female).

  • " Rejecting you son for being gay is like rejecting him for having brown eyes. "

Oh my, I wish everybody would react that way! ^^ That's the best line I've heard in this show!!

  • Don't know why NBC felt they had to give us the A-B-C's of gay issues. This was the most generic coming out scene I've seen in ages, and wildly idyllic. I kept thinking he'd wake up out of this sweet dream of universal smiles to a more realistic world. And the red-head: "you know, some people have a problem with gays." Really?! And the big bad uncle: "I'm just worried that the world isn't changing fast enough!"

  • Awww go Sonny/Freddie!! That was so well written and acted! I'm very pleased! They were able to balance the (subtle) education around gay issues and still hit all the right emotional tones without any of the characters being too contrived.

  • When is the next episode?

  • Comment removed

  • @ronaldmcdonald0 Days of Our Lives is shown every Monday through Friday at 1pm on NBC. But they do not show the same characters everday. Because the show has a big cast, they switch up the characters that they show so that the actors can have some days off.

  • @Prboi92 Thanks for the reply. I meant to say when is the next episode of Sonny, Will, and their parents.

  • @ronaldmcdonald0 Oh, I'm not exactly sure when they will show them next. You should watch the whole show everyday, its very good and entertaining. My second favorite soap behind One Life to Live.

  • how bizzard Sonnys father saying that he came back only yesterday when in fact it's been 2 weeks for us.

  • @cyryac haha! thats american soaps for you, they move slower than snails.

    I liked this episode!

  • Why are all these American gays so bloody nice? Kyle, Oliver, Luke, Noah, Sonny, Will… They're just normal people in UK soaps, I swear. I mean, I love the good guys, but I prefer them to actually be believable.

  • @justmoijah "Why are all these American gays so bloody nice?" lol. American soaps. :-)

  • Oh My God! Sonny was on 90210 as Marco, Teddy's new boyfriend. It totally makes sense now. [Actor's name is Freddie Smith].

  • My brother is 6. He doesn't keep anything quiet, believe me, and he definitely isn't aware that he's gay or straight. I don't believe that stupid cowboy story. And why are there so many LGBT groups in schools in America? I want one at my school! D:

  • Everyone so also keep in mind that Sonny is the first gay character DAYS has ever had. This is part of the reason why they have to go all PSA on us.

  • I do agree that it was a bit out of character for Victor to be so supportive. But some people do grow milder with age and Victor obviously does care about Sonny.

  • @luckyduck152 It's also the "circle the wagons and protect the family" mode. He probably wouldn't have been so tolerant if Sonny wasn't a family member. Let's see how he reacts if and when Sonny and Will get together.

  • I'm glad they went the supportive route rather than the hateful route with Sonny's family. Though, I think Will's family will be a different matter when that comes to pass.

  • @luckyduck152 I think when Will comes out that's when the drama will begin. I can already see Sami having a mental breakdown

  • @ronaldmcdonald0 Sami is always just a hair away from a mental breakdown.

I HOPE that they bring Will's father back to deal with this storyline.

  • OMG, its MARCO FROM 90210.......I LOVE YOU!!!

  • um, my body is changing? is he getting a boner? LOLS!

  • This episode reminds me of one of those after school informational programs XD "My body is changing...what does that mean?"

...except its for heterosexuals learning about homosexuality. "My family member is gay..what does that mean?"

  • I don't see why everyone is surprised that no one is making a big deal that Sonny is gay. We still have to wait until Will comes out and that's when all hell will break loose. Caroline will probably bring the holy water.

  • @lavalamp77 I dont think the question is the characters its the audience watching.

  • the opening credits crack me up every single time

  • I thought Victor's lines were fake for his character. I mean he seems like the type that would hit the roof ,or be repulsed about a gay kid in the family. Instead he really CARES dammit! lol Well, whatever, it was good to see a cute gay kid who's confident.

  • Trivia - does everyone know that Victor (with the moustache) is John Aniston, dad of Jennifer?

  • @ScottyDoug oh, thankx I didn't know that.

  • I must of missed something because I didn't feel that Sonny's uncle was all that bad. His mom and dad jumped on him like he said it was an abomination. Victor seemed to be going the sympathetic route and showed some concern for the hardships he might encounter. I didn't feel like he was trying to dissuade him or anything. IDK ...

  • this is soo fucking cheesy it's ridiculous, ya im sure they would be all soo accepting lol

  • @whaizthah But the coming out story is not about Sonny. Its about another character Will. That is where all of the drama is gonna happen.

  • @Prboi92 true but, this still felt rushed

  • So i guess the question becomes when does Will find out?

  • Sonny is sex on legs with those big brown eyes and wavey hair...sigh....wheres my soony

  • I wish I had such an understanding family.. :(

  • I do think the script got a little preachy and PSA like, but I think it's hard to avoid that when you're dealing with a topical storyline and you're trying to educate a certain segment of the audience and send out a positive message. It wasn't too bad. I've seen worse.

  • It's a nice change of pace not to have people going crazy over the news but I'm sure that will come soon enough.

  • @anthonydlangford I agree. Most of the soap audience are middle-aged women. So it's understandable they got a bit PSA

  • @anthonydlangford In the 80s this would of been spot in, in 2011... but it's a daytime soap....

  • @anthonydlangford This totally got the After School Special treatment by the writers.

  • This is days first openly gay character and their first time to write a gay storyline, it won't be perfect its only the beginning and since its their first they are gonna take it slower than normal. So give them some time and I'm sure it will get better(:

  • the story line is moving so slow i cant stand it,i like how the story is turning out so far,and i hope its not like, luke&noahs story.

  • Thanks as always, Anthony! Love the classic intro. Kids these days just don't get it... :) I was just telling a friend I feel so lucky that I was a teen in the 80s and was around for the pinnacle of the soap era

  • @ScottyDoug Thanks. I know some don't like the old school intros, but *I* like them so that's really all that counts. ;-). For me, it's a reminder of classic soaps the way they used to be.

  • Wow, I loved this - I am teary! I started watching Days in 1986 and today is the 1st day I feel represented as a gay man. Loved Sonny's confidence and self-assurance! Maggie is the show matriarch - her wise words will educate the older viewers. In 1987, Victor the villain broke up Justin & Adrienne - he considered Adrienne unworthy. It's great to see her toe-to-toe with Victor. Now the question is - will the new writers continue the gay storyline? We will find out starting September 26th!

  • @ScottyDoug I'm not worried about that. If anything I think the story will really get started in September.

  • @anthonydlangford That's what I thought too... Ken Corday said they had to rewrite some scripts after they fired Dena Higley, but they're moving ahead. But today I saw that Snicks is holding off on his AfterElton liveblogs to see if the storyline properly develops. Maybe he's still scarred from the crash-n-burn of Phillip and Rafe on Y&R :)

  • @ScottyDoug What happens on September 26???

  • Comment removed

  • @flipboidex : The latest rumor is the show is getting a brand new set called Horton Square kind of what Salem Place was back in the day.

  • @ScottyDoug yes. Greg Meng (Executive Producer) said there WILL be a gay story line. But its going to be told slowly, so it can be more realistic.

  • Considering Victor dislikes the majority of the women in Salem he should feel a sense of relief that Sonny won't be dating any of them...ha.

  • @littletugartbug that is soo true lol, i mean i just hope he isn't a man slut

like the rest of the kiriakis'

  • @whaizthah That would be awesome. I'd love it if Sonny was a man-whore who went through men like tissue paper. His family has a string of messy and disastrous relationships, why shouldn't he? It's a soap.

  • @anthonydlangford LOLZ OMG-on THIS show??! hahaha Old McDonald(Carrey) turns in his grave;D

  • @amelioratio Yea, I didn't quite get the pink ink joke... but what's nauseating about PFLAG?

  • @amelioratio Well, you don't have to, you know.

  • @anthonydlangford I like keeping up on how gay men are portrayed in mainstream media, so I appreciate that you upload various shows to Youtube. That said, it doesn't mean I can't or shouldn't be critical of the writing or of the show itself.

  • when is the next episode?

  • bleh, so anticlimatic, "I feel sorry for you... cause gays are treated unfairly and people are ignorant" where's the prejudice people (just kidding, actually that was refreshing to see people not flip out when a character comes out)

  • Aw, my heart, the cowboys and curtains stories was so cute but sad! And I'm so happy to see how positively Sonny's parents took it - what his dad said was so powerful I think, rejecting someone for their sexuality is as stupid and nonsensical as rejecting them for their eye colour. It is a little PSA-y but I think this is an important message AND I really like how his uncle's reaction wasn't EW WHAT YOU'RE GAY but I AM REALLY WORRIED ABOUT YOU. Realistic and genuine concern. Great episode!

  • LOL - High top sneakers with the suit!

  • "You better not be one of those people" said the pflag army

  • The Ole Shark didn't surprise me as much as i thought, except for the "high top sneakers with suits," bit; that was shocking and dead funny. In Victor's world only he gets to come down on his family, so i can see how the thought of any situation which puts any member of his family in a position where they'd be open to ridicule or god forbid worse, would be his first concern.

  • I really hate this intro music. It is bloody awful! Anyway, this episode was ok. Now let's see if this network will allow Sonny to have a boyfriend and the guys act as boyfriends - kissing, hugging, bedroom scenes etc. Or will this be a repeat of Luke & Noah were the fans have to fight for any kind of affection. I am not up for that bullshit again. If I get a hint the writers are holding back, I will stop watching.

  • Wow, I actually didn't expect to say this in a not at least slightly ironic way, but I loved this ep. It's like Sesame Street for parents and family of gay people - and I mean this in the best possible way. I seriously adore Sesame Street because it manages to explain things to people and helps them to process the information they are given (plus I lol'ed because my mom thought I was going to tell her I was pregnant when I came out to her at 19 - "Oh, you are gay? Well, that's not too bad").

  • @WhatAStrangeDuck ..., u are onestrangeduck alright hehehe :d ... just kidding

  • A very strong PSA vibe to this episode, but I liked it and have no doubt it is severely needed in some of the regions where this show airs, if the comments I've seen on some boards about "gay lifestyle choices" are anything to go by. The Kiriakis family unit is cute. As much as I'm loving Freddie's very natural acting style, I am just as thrilled by Justin and Adrienne's increased airtime. I only wish Victor/Maggie asked how Sonny's 3 brothers reacted instead of acting like he's an only child.

  • thanks Anthony, hugs matey

  • Loving Freddie Smith's acting so far and Sonny is more then likeable. Now that he actually has lines (as opposed to 90210) he comes through great :) Looking forward to see how this plays out, no matter what the pace is :P Slow and detailed might actually be a good thing, just as long as the writers know what to do with the characters. PS: loving Freddie Smith altogether... haha

  • Another nice episode,i really like Sonny and Victor' conversation, looks believable and amusing, uncle Vic turned to be a cool dude actually :)

    thanks Anthony, you're gem!

  • Where did the accent go?

  • Thank you soo much for uploading! I love this soap!

  • Hahaha! Victor: "you sure it's not a phase like the high-top sneakers with a suit?" Hahaha! Love it!

  • I think Victor's reaction was just fine....

  • Ah the cowboy story was touching!

  • I don't know why all the other characters seemed so quick to attack Victor. He reacted pretty damn well considering his age and just showed concern for Sonny.

  • Dammit! I'm hooked on another soap. hahaha Thanks, Anthony! ;)

  • LOL at expositional dialogue...thanks for the upload Anthony!

  • Loved this episode Sonny was amazing in his scene with Victor he was strong he stood up for himself.I liked that he talked about pflag with Victor that it helped his parents.Sonny parents are so supportive love them.Victor doesn't hate that Sonny gay only that others won't like it or they could harm him.

  • oh i envy sonny!!! but he is so.... handsome!! i love him... <3

  • Well, all in all old shark Victor means well.

  • that went better than expected

  • Loved today! Go Sonny! You tell Victor! I love the support from everyone, and I loved the story from Adrienne about the cowboys. This seemed very real, well, real enough for a soap anyway. Freddie is doing a great job, and I'd like to see this storyline go further. The rest of Days? Good luck with that!

  • I like this character so far but I'm being really cautious with this, I know that we can be disappointed with soaps very suickly but so far I like it
