  • This is brilliant!

  • thank you from the bottom of my heart

  • Beautifully and perfectly stated. I have often said that I think the wrong species became the dominant ones of this planet. The world and humanity as a whole would have been better off if it was dogs.

  • “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

  • Dogs are one of the best gifts mankind has even been given. If you give them the love and appreciation they deserve, they will give you their whole life.

  • Thankyou fot the beautiful job of appreciation of dogs. I only wish those who have no idea of thr love, loyalty, commitment a dog has for its owner.

    Judi M

  • Beautiful! Sharing!

  • Thankyou M for letting Me know about this beautiful video.

I sent shivers up and down my back.

They are our Angels and I could never be without a spcial friend.

And Rainbow if you are looking down now, this is for you.

    I will always miss you.

  • beautiful

  • Thank you for this wonderful reminder and the memories that come with it. I will never forget all the partners who have come and gone; and the tears still flow when I think back to the ones who have left my life.

  • I have eight dogs, six of them sleep in my bedroom, on my bed, Two shihtzus, one shih-poo, three beautiful puppies from my shihpoo & shihtzu, one maltese and a chow-chow. People can't understand the love and joy they bring to people like me. I get insulted when people say "than person has the demeanor of a dog" when pertaining to his/her bad attitude. . How little do they know.

  • brought tears to my eyes as I listened and watched, thinking about every dog-child we had, the joy, the pain of loss and the joys of the next and each one, they were never 'just a dog' in my family, they were members of this family, thanks, this was a wonderful video

  • Such a beautiful story with just a few words and the music is awesome! Just wonderful.

  • so basically I'm halfway A MINUTE and I'm already shedding tears.. wow I love my dog so much!

  • Beautifully done!

  • You should contact the author of the writing and reach an agreement to publish this in book form. Between the two of you, you have created an amazing piece of art that has a redeeming social value. ( I honestly confused myself, I thought it was a book that had been published, because I had been at Barnes and Nobles earlier in the day and written down the latest titles and authors of Dog books that I want to read.) When I looked again,, I found that it isn't published yet... It should be :)

  • I need my dog back :(

  • For anyone who has lost a furry "friend", visit the "Letters To Pushkin" page on FB. It is a comforting tribute site.

  • Thank you for posting this beautiful piece.

  • I am left without words every time I have read this poem! I first came across at the Pet Memorial where my beloved "Applehead" was cremated. There is no better way to describe this feeling than who ever wrote this poem. I am glad that there are other people understand that Dogs, are NOT "just a dog".

  • Just a dog can detect cancer and save lives. Just a dog can help the blind. Just a dog can help people overcome disabilities and illnesses of all kinds. Just a dog can rescue people buried under avalanche snow. Just a dog can make kids grow up with responsibilities and become better well rounded adults ! Thumbs up for Just a dog!

  • I'm overjoyed to hear that there are people out there like me im so sick of hearing the phrase "JUST A DOG" its not just a dog its my best friend a better friend than any human. It's not just a dog its a gift from god to me :)

  • Thank you for that. It was just what I needed to help me grieve my pets.

  • I am facing the loss of my faithful companion of 14 years in the next few months. I have had him since he was 6 weeks old and was being thrown off a roof to see if they could catch him. One of my students knew this was wrong and talked the boys into giving her my boy. She brought him to school because she knew I would help. I can't imagine my life without him though I own 2 other rescues and 4 cats. They are all so important to me.Than you for helping me feel less alone on this journey.

  • @NaviandGus I am so sorry for your situation. Just 3 months and 19 days ago I lost my beloved "Applehead" after 3 years of dealing with epilepsy, he was very controlled, but needed pills 4 x a day(which were all given on the dot). He finally lost his life to encephalitis....it is a tough journey...but show/give all your love and that is all they need. I am sure you have given him/her a good life and he/she knows it. God bless your baby...

  • Just absolutely amazing. Those people who say "JUST A DOG" have never had one. <3

  • Thank-you! That's what my wife says about our "dog" of fourteen years..."she's just a dog." Well the end is nearing as 'ol Maggie is running out of gas. My only regret is that I never gave "that dog" as much joy as she gave me...thanks again!

  • beautiful...

  • This is truly beautiful - thank you.

  • Today marks the first year anniversary when I lost Jesse ,the Rott. She gave me continues and reciprocal unconditional love, she was my therapist when I was sick, she was there when I went through difficult times, she was there for me when I needed a friend, she has more intuitive understanding of what I was going through, what i'm feeling and what I need,She is more intuitive than most humans

JESSE-- MY FAITHFUL FRIEND,LOYAL COMPANION ALWAYS AND FOREVER.

Jesse born on 6/21/02 RIP 7/02/10

  • Amazing!!!

  • As I cry I still love this. If one third of the people giving dogs away on Craiglist knew what incredible things our animal family members are. I have two dogs the oldest is 9. I know that day will be here some day. She has been my constant companion. I could never use those words about her.

  • This video is AMAZING!! Thanks for sharing :)

  • DOG=GOD!!!

  • This is beautiful and sooooo true! Thanks!

  • Thank you for the heartfelt tribute...put to words and music that helps to impart to others what some of us have the honor to experience several times a day. For some of us, that bond is the reason for "being".

  • Clearly you don't have a cat lol but this is nice and heart warming

  • Simply beautiful.

  • beautiful .ty for sharing. i have 6 doggies now....it is so difficult sometimes... they are pretty much my world.

  • Adorable. Always Unconditional.

Loyal for life. So Loving. They're perfect. ♥

  • indeed thank you for this. It speaks so clearly to how I have felt about my dogs forever and how hurtful it is to hear someone comment "It's just a dog"...

And the choice of music is perfect..lovely on so many levels

  • Amen to that! I love animals

  • I love this video. My dogs comfort me in the sad moments and bring me so much joy. I could not live without them.

  • Just a slight correction, Richard Biby is not a DVM. He's a contributing editor to The Versatile Hunting Dog magazine, where his essay was first published. He lives in OK.

His beautiful, heartfelt essay has circulated the internet, but often without credit to the author.

  • This is wonderful! As a "dog person" I understand how our canine friends are so much more than "just dogs" and this video relates to that on so many levels.

  • I love this... made me cry thank you for sharing... I love my best friends Cinnamon, Samantha and my dear dear angle Hedgie who past away 2 years ago this month. God I miss him... my heart will never be the same. I love love love them.

  • but still if we love a dog! we want dogs! we have them they are part of our family i have two chihuahuas they are inside my home i take care of them imagne you a stray not having to be taking cared of so people please take care of dogs and puppies i see a lot of them they make me cry.. :'(

  • What a beautiful testament and poignant message, thank you ♥

  • Thank you for this fabulous video. It is fantastic and really describes the way dog lovers feel about their companions.

  • I am a networker, foster, independent rescuer, and owner of 9 dogs. I have seen tons of dog video's and this is by far one of my favorites. The pictures are amazing and even more so when I learned they were taken at the local dog park.. You have captured the very essence of the dogs and those that love them. Thank you!

  • Great video.

  • *cries* This makes me love my dog even more than I thought was possible. My dogs are "just my best friends ever."

  • This Video Had Me In Tears. I Am A Guy With A Sensitive Heart. Thanks For Sharing!

  • A friend just shared this link with me, as my beloved "just a dog", Bailey, who loved and put up with me for 12 years, just died this past week in my lap. That "dog" had been my best friend, comforter, and most loyal friend. The video made me cry, but makes me glad too, that people know that to a person who loves a dog, the dog is not, "just a dog." Thanks for the lovely video!

  • Ah Trent. You made me cry! This video/song is absolutely beautiful and there is no such thing as "just a dog." Thanks for making this. <3

  • I love it. I have 4 dogs and to me they are my life. I love them all soo much, i would do anything for them. I live in NS and love point pleasent park...we go there very often. But the best part is too see them all soo happy. They always have a smile on the face! Sometimes I actuly fell sad for all the peoples who just dont understyand what it fells like to love something just as much as I love my dogs.

  • This is beautiful and I agree with the many who said if they feel or say "It's just a dog" please don't own one...I have volunteered for a dog rescue group for 10 yrs or so and I'm amazed all the time at the compassion and love of the dogs as well as all the chances they give us to be more compassionate and loving while many humans just take away my thoughts of goodness of people - it's a sad thing for that belief to be taken away. Thank you for sharing.

  • This is a great video! It always concerns me though, when a person says, "it's just a dog" because I have to wonder, what could this person who apparently thinks so little of a animal, possibly do to one? If anyone thinks "it's just a dog, or cat, or whatever" please please, don't own one. Tell us animal lovers, and we'll help find it a loving home.

  • thank you so much for posting this. It truly touches my heart and expresses so clearly that it is not "just a dog" but our hearts and souls.

  • This is simply amazing..................

  • Thanks for sharing this terrific video.

  • I love this video. I only have on thought. Please extend our love of animals to all others such as pigs, cows, chicken whose lives are being kept in the dark, no love, only fear of death. They are exactly like Dogs with such intelligence and feelings. If we can't fathom to see a dog being killed for food, then we must not allow pigs, cows, chicken to die only for our taste.

  • Just wanted to thank you for the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. This video brings me to tears each and everytime. It touches me somewhere deep inside that few undersatnd or care to understand. I know many of those "just a dog" people and I fell so very sorry for them because they have no idea what the most real and purest joy in life is. This video represents every essence of my being and I feel like you made it just for me. Thank you from the very bottom of my heart.

  • @crazyzoopeople It can apply to all of our furry creatures. I love my dog...but I think people can love all of their animals equally, no matter what they are...cat...dog...ferrit...rat...whatever they are....don't you think? This vid also brings tears to my eyes....and it touches me too deep inside.

  • @crazyzoopeople im right there with ya!! i agree 100%

  • @crazyzoopeople Wow, you said it! I could have written everything you have there and maybe it would have expressed how deeply I too am touched by Trent's video. Funny how we dog lovers speak the same language.

Wonder if the "just a dog" people are like that? The other phrase I have heard when I've lost a beloved furbaby is, " well you can get another one, right?" as if they are all interchangeable, as if they are little objects that have no personalities of their own....it amazes me.

  • @PapillonOne ,thank you! It gives me hope to know there are others out there that feel the same as I do! I love all animals but dogs hold a very special place in my heart. There is no greater feeling than the absolute adoration and love you get from a dog! They are wonderful! Come find me on facebook, I enjoy having dog-minded friends! You should be able to find me from my e-mail, crazyzoopeople@yahoo.com. Thanks again!

  • Beautiful video!

  • AWESOME

  • Awesome!

  • I was pretty sure that he was a Bouvier. He was a magnificent looking boy. Thanks much for the video. It is wonderful.

  • Very touching and wonderful photography. You capture the expressions of the dogs and people like none other!

    Thank you for sharing.

  • Yes Sal is a Bouvier. Unfortunately Sal has passed away, gentle giant he was.

  • Great video. Is the dog at 57 seconds (fawn or white) a Bouvier?

  • For all those who don't get it, they certainly won't when it comes to cats either . . .

  • Soooo BEAUTIFUL :-) Thank you.

  • I'd rather spend my time with "Just a Dog" as opposed to people!!! Great clip!

  • Awesome!!!

  • Great video...No such thing as "Just a dog" -- Loved it! Thanks for sharing

  • Beautiful! Thank you Trent.

  • When I got my girl, a Rottweiler/Plott Hound mix, she was 5 months old. She was severely underweight and eat up with mange. I asked them how they could let her get like that. Their response? "She's just a dog." I took her home. She's now 7 and in need of actually losing weight haha. She's my precious girl.

  • This is so sad! There are not " Just Dogs " they are my companion and I love them! :)

  • Outstanding! Such a great dedication to such wonderfully loyal and joyous friends.

  • Beautiful reminder. My dog is my best friend and loves me as much as I love him.

  • tthank you ,so wonderful tears now:):)

  • Why don't dogs rule this world instead of humans??

  • @LPSgirlSHK

DOGS DO RULE THIS WORLD, BUT NOT THE ONES WITH GENTLE SOULS WHO EMBODY ALL THAT IS BEAUTIFUL AND RIGHT IN THIS WORLD!

  • @katladi

Haha, okay. I hope someday every building will allow dogs in it.

  • the vid made me cry D'x Not a day goes by where I won't miss my Rocky...he was the world's greatest Pomeranian... but all of that is a good hing xD

  • Amazing. Thank you.

  • Beautiful thank you:)

  • Loved it! Thank you!

  • Beautiful job! Maybe someday one of my dogs will be at PPP when you're there!

  • Really emotional video. Well tuned the music and lyric. You only miss a picture of an Airedale Terrier.

  • I have seen this in just text before, Thank you so much for putting pictures and song to it; I understood it well in text; and LOVE what you've done with it!!!

  • I am so blessed to understand this. Love my dogs. Wonderful video. Says it all. Thanks for sharing

  • I'm so fortunate that I DO understand!

  • Lovely . . . . and so is the song!

  • Thanks Trent and know that I believe it can honestly be said that, I "just do understand"

  • love it so much. thanks for understanding what i fail to get through to people my whole life. much love from dog lover to another.

  • That is beautiful, and so unexplainably true. I love this video

  • A beautiful tribute to our friends.

  • What a beautiful, moving tribute to the sacred bond of love shared between dogs and the people who love them. This is the first video I have ever seen that has really captured the essence of this most sacred relationship and what it means to so many of us. Thank you so much for sharing this.

  • GREAT video! i love this i added it to my favorites. I volunteer at an animal rescue and what we look for in an owner is someone who thinks like the way u do. u can never say its "just a dog."

thanks again for making this fantastic video!!

  • Two hankie...but all were happy tears.........

  • Thanks so much!

  • Love the video and so true thanks for sharing.

  • Beautiful. Thanks so much.

  • Absolutely fantastic, shared on FB!

  • Love, love, LOVE this.

  • The most wonderful of videos I have seen in a long while! One word Beautiful!!

  • I absolutely adore this video!!!!!!!!!! I am sharing it on my dog collar fan page.

  • That video said it all...Thank you for your effort in making it.

  • AWESOME!!! Every word & picture is what I'm about also! Life without a dog is painfully quiet & heartwrenchingly alone! Thanks for speaking in my behalf as well!

  • This made me cry. So true. Animals are so precious..

  • Such a wonderful video and quote. Ignorant people really need to be taught that any animal is just as important, if not more, than any human

  • When I lost everything in this financial crisis, everyone kept telling me to give my dogs to the shelter and "move on." No way. Of all the things I have kept, I have kept my dogs. I would no sooner give them away than I would a dependent child.

  • @F8doggie Thats wonderful. My cat would be the last thing I ever gave up, and even if i lost everything, i would still keep him

  • Wonderful!

The author of "Just a Dog" is Richard Biby, btw.... it was apparently first printed in NAVHDA Magazine in the Feb 2006 issue. (North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association)

  • I could not live without dogs! This is great!

  • Yes they are as my blog is called Dogs 4 Point Pleasant Park

  • @trentboswick

Nice! I will have to check out your blog :)

  • Are these pictures taken at Point Pleasant Park???

  • That is Scotia :)

  • Is the Sheltie Scotia!?? IF SO I KNOW HER, lol She has taken a kibble or two of me, and was even gentle LOL.

  • Love it.. So sweet, all the pictures are gorgeous <3 Especially love the sheltie. ;]
