if i would be on that situation as those 2 i wouldnt waste time on sadness..i would leave my girlfriend and go have some fun..buying maybe ferrari race car
It's heartbreaking when he talks about his family. Because you know they're dead. Gregory Peck was amazing in his facial expressions when he acts out talking about them. Like his character knows they're dead, but won't acknowledge it, and as a result is holding back his own emotions.
My Favorite Actress! Love Ava Gardner! She enver saw herself as a great actress but as a viewer she had something that most didn't..there was a realness to her acting! She could speak volumes without saying a word! that my friend is real talent!
@sara31tx . . .she could be mistaken for Liz Taylor or Natalie Wood, and they were all screen icons. When she lived in London in the 70s, I saw her signing autographs outside the Royal Albert Hall, even with dark glasses and a scarf over her head, there was no mistaking the glamour in her looks and shere presence. I believe she was a straight talking lady who knew what she wanted. . .well, Sinatra always loved her, why shouldn't the rest of us? Thanks Ava.
this scene kills me what acting . what a great movie . in the movie Gregory Peck is stationed near New London Ct about 57 miles from where i live . just chills me to the bone . because you know New London would be gone with his family and Rhode Island , Boston , New York and the whole eastern seaboard.and the whole world !!!! the part where Ava Gardner talks about wanting to go to Paris knowing it is gone , how sad , i hope this never happens , god willing !!!! peace
Two terrific actors at the very height of their craft. You don't need to take acting lessons....just watch these two. Everything you need to know about the profession is all right here.
egad ... there must be something in the air ... that's the very scene i came here looking for (i'm reading the book now and it's the scene i recall best from the film!
Ava was an exceptional artist ...underated at the time...but watching this 50 years later you see how "modern " she is...how real and unaffected she was an an actress...
although a very depressing movie if you want AN APRRECIATION FOR LIFE watch this movie......and yes Gregory Peck, just wonderful♥

In the end Ava's looks was eroded not by age but by alcohol.

@MrAkihiros ~ That was an unneccesarily nasty and pointless comment. Ava was and remains a legend...are you?
