Two questions..: First, is it actually possible to collect that extra life on the last sonic run of Dark Gaia?

And second: I play the PS3 version of this game and on all the sonic runs of the Dark Gaia boss the timer steadily goes DOWN and I finish each with barely a second to go, so why on these videos does it show the time INCREASING? I hate this game so much as it's so atrociously hard, otherwise I'd love it.

Yes, it is possible. In fact, you pretty much stay to the far left or right, and you should be able to grab it. Developers realized people would be having problems with this so wisely inserted it in.

It took me a LONG time to beat the first part, that the others although were frustrating just needed practice. But at least you can level up sonic to make him run faster. So try leveling up his speed and ring collection and come back to it....

Someone correct me if im wrong...and im pretty sure im not, but Super Sonic is invulnerable. Rocks and stupid tentacle things and even Dark Gaia's energy beams arent supposed to hurt or diminish your ring count. But I suppose that would make the fight all too easy.

Super Sonic WAS invulnerable, way back in the day. In Sonic 3 & Knuckles, asteroids in the Doomsday Zone did little more than slow him down - he didn't lose rings from crashing into them. But over the years, it looks like the Super form has been steadily weakening, to the point that the flaming rocks in this battle CAN knock rings out of Super Sonic.

I vote Sega brings back the Super Emeralds and the Hyper form; Super Sonic's just not cutting it like he used to.

Remember the intro in Sonic 3? He's supersonic and is running on the sea, and runs into knuckles, who knocks him out, thus turning him to normal Sonic. Knuckles is tough.

its not that super sonic is weakining,it's that back in the day he fought mostly only eggman robots and now super sonic is fighting beasts stronger than eggman(DARK GAIA,Perfect Chaos,Shadow Lizard Prototype,Metal Sonic,Black Doom(well that was super shadow),Mephelis, Iblis,and Erazor Jin)

Super Sonic isnt harmed during the last boss battle, so your right he pretty much does have unlimited power and cant be destroyed. But the aim of the last boss is to kill it, before it kills the light gaia temple thingumijig...

Wow, really, both versions of this boss are pretty good but both have some gay things about them. The 360/PS3 version super sonic has health when he's supposed to be invincible and you're not really even fighting dark gaia with super sonic, you fight a lot of snakes and then press buttons at certain times :S. The problem with the wii version was the gameplay wasn't very good, but at least you're really fighting the boss than just pressing buttons. Still, both of these were pretty good.
