  • Breath-taking beauty, from the Fab Five. Austin City Limits circa 1990, I think it was. I saw this show and ran out to get the CD. Thank you for posting

  • Feels like Heaven

  • This is incredible beautiful music! This leaves me feeling such at peace and relaxed. Truly amazing experience.

    Perry

  • One time at the lodge at the Ahwahnee Hotel in Yosemite, the piano player busted this out and I recognized it in about 10 notes. I walked over, reeling, after it was over and said, "One Winter's Night by Strength in Numbers, I can't believe I'm hearing this, do you know anything else from the record?". He gasped in surprise that someone would recognize a tune from a 20 year old record that maybe sold 100,000 copies and proceeded to play about three more tunes he'd arranged. I tipped 20 bucks

  • This has got the sound quality the song deserves. Absolutely IN-YO-FACE beautiful.Great performance, too.

BTW the CD (Strength In Numbers) features each musician writing a song with each of the others, 10 combinations, 10 songs. Not to be missed.

  • Love this!! Thanks for sharing on YouTube. I saw tunes from the Telluride cd on Amazon. Great sound.

  • Beautiful!

  • Wow ... i have never found a video on youtube with zero dislikes. Speaks for itself :)

  • This is incredibly beautiful...and to have the best of the best together on one stage- takes my breathe away!

  • The CD, The Telluride Sessions, by Strength in Numbers credits Edgar Meyer and Mark O'Connor as the writers of One Winter's Night.

  • Bella Fleck wrote this I believe

  • At the first snow every year, I post this on Facebook. Beautiful sound, graceful movements by the players. It's a moment of peace: full moon shining on a pristine snow bank somewhere far away. Snowy Eden, if you will. If I could, I'd marry all four these guys.

  • Awesome! Thank you for sharing this masterpiece!

  • I wish No Apologies was on youtube!

  • What does it say when this masterpiece has 38000 hits, and singing cats have 90 million??

  • one of the most beautiful songs ever

  • does anyone know what kind of resonator jerry was playing back then?

  • @nmfarlow : Mahogany RQ Jones, it is probably the most legendary Dobro in existence. Jerry retired it and it is now on display in the Country Music Hall of Fame.

  • This hauntingly ethereal music is so much the essence of my own soul...

  • I recall seeing them play at the 17th Telluride Bluegrass Festival in 1991. Unforgettable, the whole festival, and Strength in Numbers was a highlight.

  • stunning

  • Possibly the finest music ever.

    (Watch 'at mullet, though)

  • That Dobro solo would melt concrete. Lordy, that was good.

  • one fo the most preety pieces in the world

  • My father recently passed and he love to play Dobro and this song brought tears to my eyes thinking about him. moving and lovely. Jeremy

  • @3djes My father passed recently too. Stay strong brother =]

  • the most beautiful song i have ever heard.

  • still.

  • amen

  • I saw mark o'conner, edgar meyer and chris thile perform this piece a few months ago at Carnegie Hall in NY. One of the most amazing performances I've ever experienced. It was such a treat because Strength In Numbers hasn't existed in so long, I never thought I would hear any of their stuff live.

  • the blending of their instruments together is truly golden. thank u for posting...

  • amazing, one of the best bands ever

  • These are some of the most interesting and original musicians (and composers) playing in America today.

  • i seriously cannot get enough of this piece.

this is musicians getting together to make music. It's influenced by just about everything. that's the great thing about the fluidity of music, if you've studied music enough all these things you've heard just come to the surface when you play and you get gems like this.

  • This is one of the most amazing songs ever...

  • So that's what Mount Olympus looks like.

    I'm awed.

  • holy crap, i think bela is playing guitar on this!

  • I am speechless to reply to that vest Bush has on!

  • BEAUTIFUL!

  • everyone knows that bela fleck is the one holding down the tempo on the guitar? that was the most amazing thing to me about this peice. "this is the most beautiful song that i have evefr heard."

  • This is my favorite song ever. I first heard it on a friend's borrowed CD (The Telluride Sessions), and it nearly brought me to tears. Thank you so much for posting the video!

  • As amazing as this is (and it IS amazing), this tour was NOT sponsered by Supercuts.

  • It doesn't get any sweeter than this. Jerry Douglas is from another planet.

  • They all are (from another planet).

These are the virtuosos of their respective instruments.

The sweetness they wring out of those strings knifes right to the heart.

  • <3 these men own my heart

  • Beautiful. Anyone else hear John Denver's lovely "Fly Away" in here?

  • look at edgar's playing right at the end..so sick. that guy is from outer space

  • when i begin watching this video i didn't expected THIS and started crying for several seconds.

    speeechless

    It's Winter's night tonight. :)

  • Jerry Douglas is the best musician ever

  • i love the musica! I think I might name my dogs duke and cookie.... the slide is a whole different bear and it is beautiful....

  • amazing song !...nice...

  • I love this song to death...very very pretty.

  • This is probably my favorite recording of all time. It sits at the top of my iTunes playlist, far ahead of the 2nd place song, which is also by Strength in Numbers. Thanks for posting this Austin City Limits broadcast, which I own on VHS, but I don't have a VCR anymore.

  • It's funny. I live in Austin, but can't get tickets to Austin City Limits to save my life! I wish I could have been here. It does sound like a "winter night" gorgeous...

  • Thank you Submitter, for all the Strength in Numbers videos. I had their CD in the early 90s and lost it..This really brought back some memories.

  • wonderful !

Any more tracks out there of this band ?

    MORE ! PLEASE !

  • Check out their self-titled album "Strength In Numbers" on MCA.

  • Absolutely beautiful song! Would love to see these 5 back together for another album.
