I don't see a point in endless suffering either. Only people who feel good in themselves are able to enjoy, share and care. Furthermore, animals who are weak don't suffer like that, they scroll in a corner, and are typically eaten alive by animals higher up in the food chain. I suffer from a progressive disease, have been fighting this for a long time, yet only getting worse..I reach a point where I will end up homeless and in pain, because I can't work anymore.
Your mom was bless with a family willing to put her wishes and comfort above their desire to hold on to her for their own comfort. She was a lucky woman to have such a strong family to support and defend her from the torture of pain.
Your Mom was lucky to have a strong, loving, supportive family. It is so hard to not be selfish and insist a loved one stay living, if suffering, only for our benefit. She was blessed with a family loving enough to give her dignity and comfort and support of her wishes.
