Very very true... I have never met a person who enjoys this band in particular either. The world is flooded with piss poor pop. Country is pop, punk is now pop, a lot of metal is pop... Its good to see that some people out there can pull away from mainstream bullshit and find real passion in music. Still though, From These Wounds is Funeral's masterpiece... heheheheh... But this album is beautiful in its own way.

Definitely Virgin Black if you already haven't heard of them. Doom metal with female operatic vocals as well with symphonic and gothic elements. Especially the "Requiem" trilogy. I think it's very essential for doom, gothic and classical music fans. The song I'd listen to in particular is "...and I Am Suffering". That song got me hooked to them.

Not even a legitimate genre, as such, but more of an umbrella term that can be applied to bands from all sorts of subgenres that display a sort of "gothic" feel.

For example, you have death-doom bands like My Dying Bride or Paradise Lost called goth, doomy alternative metal like Type O Negative called goth, black metal like Rotting Christ called goth...

I say death metal, some black metal as Thorns, Funeral doom metal, some doom metal... thats not gay, but some stuff u mentioned is very pop as nightwish and dimmu Burger or moonspell. Yes indeed we should kill hip hop etc, but the start should be with the bands like Nightwish... We don't want metal ending up same as rock. "Rock is dead" yes, because it became totally pop. Well I like most of the bands you listed too. Arch Enemy,Opeth and Funeral truly kick ass.

But I also enjoy a lot of brutal stuff:

Burzum

Darkthrone

Morbid Angel

Slayer

and so on and so on... I really like most of the metal, but the way I see it, music always has to have some meaning,some point. If it's just brainless screaming about Satan or mutilating women then I hate it. :)
