However, she joined the cast because she was a celebrity, look back through Hairspray's broadway history and you will notice that they barely went long without a celebrity in the show in some capacity. It's all about getting butts in the seats and money in pockets.

i know she's a pretty good singer, but has anyone seen her act? Is she any good? i'm just wondering because i didn't get to see this. there's a big difference from a good singer and a great actor.

Aubrey sounds great in this, not a fan of her earlier work, but i'm impressed with her here. To bad she was casted cause she was in D.K and on TV, but she proved she belonged there. I wish they would bring this as a revival on Broadway.

Aubrey O'Day's the 2009 Amber..that's great..I love the good girls, but the "bad chick"'s important as well..and this is a favorite..hope to see Hairspray live sometime...[saw "Mama Mia" when it was sitll iN Vegas @Luxor.] Hairspray had been there at Mandalay Bay.

Aubrey joining the show had nothing to do with how well she could or could not sing and everything to do with selling tickets. Sorry to burst the bubble, but any third rate celebrity who can sell tickets can be on Broadway these days.. talented or not. I am not referring to Aubrey there, but it is true.
