What mic were you using will the driver complained and what mic would you recommend on this 2995dx to stay LOUD and not sound like CRAP.Echo installed or extreme 2018 with amp behind radio witch I heard amps mess up 2018 or use Noise canceling mic or power D104 hand mic?
@ajhanway mics are all personal preference check out the galaxy desk mic they are pretty good on the base might just have to turn your talk back down a little just to make sure it dont feedback

@commieslayer45 yep them mosfets can not take the abuse lol i love the new switch mode supply though nice i had a few 2990's they were ass talking radios but sucked because of the old supply they had in them oh well at least they fixed one thing then took the other good thing out lol go figure lol probibly saved them a few
Yea that's what it does if you two stage them and run them hard also causes failed power supply, blowed up transistors and more headache. So to the average customer I never take things to max due to liability lol transistors went up in price replacing them would be nuts;)
@KC8YOQ the original rci 2995 use too have 2sc 2990 in there when strapped out too the max would see 300 watts. If you would volt up the power supply you would see more. but im with you now a days with the mosfets its just not safe too go over 200-250 watts:)
That will be the next radio I buy. I own a RCI 2970 DX peaked to 200 watts on SSB

@allenward69 A 2995 new out of the box can only do 150! Peaked and tuned 200 MAYBE!
I f you overvolt the power supply then you shorten the life of the transistors! 300 from a stock 2995dx NO WAY
