  • Some of the stuff Mike uses in his builds I would NEVER use. Such as those styrofoam shower pans...NO WAY! Hot mop is the only way to go with shower pans...THEY NEVER LEAK.....EVER!

  • I love Mike Holmes because he got me thinking about my HVAC, plumbing, electrical, insulation etc. I know there are many contractors out there who do things differently and just as well. But, Mike deserves a lot of credit for making millions of home owners aware that for the most part they're a bunch of dumb asses who take a 500 thou mortgage without knowing shit about shit. And that's a good thing. I love his show. Fuck you if you don't.

  • Mike Holmes is a fucking dick. He puts down a $400 visual, non-destructive, non-invasive home inspection and wants to shit on home inspectors so he can go ahead with a $100,000 home renovation.

Fuck you Mike, you fucking asshole.

  • @Yakinabottle

I so agree with you. What he does, no home inspector ever does. If Mike is going to bad mouth people, he should bad mouth his own government for allowing these type of laws to be broken and hold the building industry and home inspectors to a higher standard.

  • you all sound like a bunch of girls

  • Holmes plays like he knows construction. Where he is from, is the number one place in the world for mobile or factory built homes, NOBODY in Canada knows wtf they are doing in construction. ESPECIALLY Mike d-bag holmes.

  • @HomeEnergyNow LOL. you know shit about Canada and shit about Toronto.

  • @UpstairsMaid I don't know much of antartica either except you have to be an idiot to live there.........fucking socialists. Don't get fat, somebody else will have to pay for your healthcare! LOL This is where you want construction tips? We build more houses than shivering idiots in canada say "eh", suprised the d-bag even knows english he reminds me of the french.

  • They get millions of people who want to be on the show and have their home hooked up for free. It's easy to find a story about a bad contractor or inspector when you have that many entries. Mike is leading everyone to believe that he is GOD when it comes to house and for a good reason. He owns an inspections business and construction company. So he is very biast and the show is very produced. Many of the issues addressed are false and stories are made up. They need show content.

  • Holmes is assigned to most of the jobs where the worst of the worst contractors screwed over the home owners. THAT'S why he generally doesn't have good stuff to say about the contractors on the jobs he does.

  • to fiffhof...clients can be nasty and cheap, yes...Holmes shows homeowners how a thing should be done, by fixing industry shleps and frauds' lousy/dangerous work. In almost every episode, we learn how much the homeowner payed for shoddy work. Tons of homeowners who are paying lots for renos and getting cheated. We used a really good contractor, someone we know who wanted all the pay before the work was finished. It never got completed...Holmes proves the need for industry regulations.

  • its a good show, but he does everything without any budget, so no wonder everything looks perfect

  • @petrocelly - The show is a good show which is intended to show consumers to BEWARE & investigate your builder / contractor prior to signing or paying out any money.

If you've been around for a while you can see the truth through the smoke in mirrors. He is well " prepared " for each show just as The New Yankee Workshop's Norm Abrahms was. Norm is an excellent craftsman.. Mike is talented as well but I would still work with Norm or Tommy over him any day.

The music at the ending ! Noooo !

  • @petrocelly EXACTLY! I wonder how many people don't know this. Hell anybody with the budget he gets can find the problems, hire the best subs, and get the job done right!

  • most folks still forgot that everyone on the show dont wanna pay the real contractor, construction cost money and not small money, so the homeowner is looking to cut corners by hiring the cheapest guy on the market, then they end up in big trouble and cry out loud, so dont blame bad contractors, they serve their purpose like a reward to a costumer who is cheap on work that has to be done to his own space. First and last I would like to say, shame on you home owner.

  • @petrocelly Sorry about the thumbs down vote. I meant to vote your comment up.

  • I love how he stand up for good work and I would love a house built like he does it. However lets be real not many people are willing or can aford to pay for that kind of work.

  • fucking ads on you tube

  • I know they are tv personalities and all but hes better the Bob Villa, Tim the tool man Taylor, Dean whats his face from Hometime------

    Mike Holmes kicks ass!!

  • Mike's show and his mission isn't about teaching contractors, it's about teaching the CONSUMER to be a smarter consumer, and about changing the laws that let the crappy contractors get away with shoddy work.

  • I tend to think it's about hearing his own voice.

  • @CommentClown - :- )

  • After watching his show-

I DID THE FUCKING JOB MYSELF

In Phila Pa - nothing but hacks that over charge and do shit work.

    MIKE IS DA MAN

  • any one have his cell number

  • He doesn't say they are all bad. He's very careful to always refer to "good contractors" and "bad contractors". There are good contractors out there, and then there are contractors who say they can do something when they really can't and then dance off into the sunset with the money.

What Mike does is arm people with knowledge of things to look for so that they can make sure they've got the good contractor who knows what he's doing. He also does his program to inform contractors of good techniq

  • a good contractor shouldn't have to be taught by a telivision show. I do like the new products and it does help people, want the catch? I still get people saying well do we have to do that? Can we do it cheaper without permits? I outright asked one guy if he has ever watched this show? of course he did but felt we didn't need to do a lot of the stuff. NO cure for stupid. Still like watching the show.

  • @no4go2 you should never stop learning about your craft, even if you're a professional in your field

  • @Icepaxx - Duhhhhhh !

  • @no4go2 good or not you can learn new things every day. I have learned a few things watching this guys show

  • your right

  • he build my friends house

  • Wow, I wouldn't mess with Mike. Bet that lock came right off...2 reasons, Mike is a big strong guy, and 2 this guy built a deck out of balsam wood ...probably doesn't know how to lock a door.

  • I love Mike. I have learned so much from the show.

I do not think that guy really wants to rumble with Mike

  • mike holmes is the best!!

  • I work in the constuction industry and everyone wants it done yesterday and for next to nothing.Clients are often as shit as dodgy builders. The lesson is that a good crew is expensive but will give you a good job when lead correctly.Quality is remembered long after price is forgotten as my old man used to say.

  • @fifthof It's not so much people want it for nothing but the labor fees they charge is comparable to what you would pay a brain surgeon or a lawyer. LOL

  • "I can buy you a Cat?" LOL lol

  • "I know where you live Holmes."

  • Wow, that was bad.

  • Oh man. The door was locked. *gasp*

  • "You built a deck out of...balsam wood?" hehehe

  • Mike could take him!

  • the doors locked lmao

  • Poor Mike!

  • Awesome! lmao...
