you know, i've been watching several of these videos...the statistics are great, the idea behind the contest is great, BUT tap, in most areas, TASTES LIKE SHIT and it is also not available everywhere. is everyone supposed to carry an empty cup around with them all day in case they get thirsty AND are able to find a tap water source? maybe a fountain that has been used by fifty people an hour or with gum stuck in the spout or with someone's spit in the basin?
I'm sure that you are a big boy (or girl) and can deal with "SHIT" tasting water. Get used to it.
You can use a water fountain without directly touching anything, save the handle. Get over it.
Also, some people DO carry water bottles with them, and more should. Fill it up with tap at the beginning of the day and refill at your school, workplace, etc.
If you do not have access to a water fountain, fine. But, you can still cut down on drinking bottled water by using tap when able.
i am a big boy, so that means i have to pulg my nose while taking of water?
how many people have touched that handle? how many people have spit or sneezed on that fountain. who is going around cleaning the green build-up in the spout? get over it? i have a fairly weak immune system and do not /cannot have that sort of exposure....and for what...a drink of water?
you probably could bring a bottle with you to work, the gym, where have you...but if you forget? what, you go thirsty?
Do you live in a bubble or refuse trimming your nails, by any chance?
"how many people have touched that handle?"
Door handles, car handles, keyboards and mice, other people's hands, desks: these are objects that have a similar amount of teeming pathogens that you probably touch on a regular basis.
"Door handles, car handles, keyboards and mice, other people's hands, desks...blah blahh blahhhh...."
listen you guilt ridden sheep, i like my self enough to treat myself to the best tasting water possible. i don't CARE if anyone likes it or not. i am realistic in saying that I AM SELFISH. i like great tasting water. no, I LOVE great tasting water! I GET PLEASURE from drinking cold great tasting water on a hot summer day and i don't feel guilty a god damned bit. Now go drink your filthy tap!
"who is going around cleaning the green build-up in the spout?"
Most businesses and educational facilities have these people called janitors who perform such services. As far as poorly-maintained public fountains, don't use them. Simple as that.
If you "forget" your water bottle, then buy some water! Sometimes it's unavoidable; but you can at least CUT DOWN on your usage. That's the aim of environmental action; not abolishment.
I will if you promise to stop being an unrealistic save the easth fool. your heart is in the right place....but your brain is far from reality.
people in general ARE selfish. this planet IS dying.
Stop being so ridiculously foolish to think you...or anyone...can change those facts
so run around town putting your mouth near spit basins and gum disposals. i wonder how you will feel about your precious public tap water in a few years when small pox hits.
In fact, the planet isn't dying at all. It's changing in reaction to the way it's inhabitants live. The Earth has been around for millions of years. It's funny to hear how us humans are killing it. We're not that powerful. Hell, tsunamis, bushfires, hurricanes etc cant be prevented by us.
We are definitely changing our environment but really... when we are all made extinct like the dinosaurs the earth's life forms will begin all over again in new and different ways.
i'm gonna drink as much bottle as i possibly can now and encourage others to do the same. hell, it won't be hard...all anyone has to do is just perform a good ol' fashioned taste test. you green sheep. what the hell did al gore start?
A great video with some frightening but inevitable statistics.
This issue is quite topical here in London.
A London newspaper ran a "Water on Tap" campaign recently. The aims were to make asking for and consuming tap water socially acceptable in every eating and drinking venue. Companies who join the campaign will sign a pledge to offer and serve free tap water to customers without prejudice. It received huge support from restaurants and politicians alike.
Tap water.. yeah baby.
