I love how much all the NOLA folks have enjoyed this, thank you for all your great comments.
Believe it or not, I uploaded this video for the sake of showing it to fifteen guys with whom I attended a batchelor party down there-- I had no idea it would catch on like this and another twelve thousand people would watch it. The internet is an amazing thing.
I don't care how old this is. It will always be like new to me....I remeber that day like it was Yesterday........Geaux Saints....Now I'm ready for Football to start again...Get rid of this stupid Lockout and lets get back to Da Superbowl.....Who Dat We will Forever Be Dat!!!!!!!!
There is NO PLACE LIKE HOME!!!!!!!...i love my city and we breathe and bleed Saints football. Our victory parade was planned to roll regardless of the Superbowl outcome, winning only made it that much better!...now tell me where they do dat @?!!!!! 504 all day...WHO DAT BAAABY!!!!
@cdocskinner MAN WHOADIE YALL NOT THE ONLY ONE THATS HOMESICK. IM IN CALI AND I STAY REPPIN DAT NAWLINZ YA HEARD ME. I MISS HOME SOO MUCH AND I FUCKING WISH I WAS OUT THERE CAUSE I WOULD BE GETTIN DOWN YA DIGG
I transferred with my job to California ten years ago and never have I seen anything like this in the Bay Area...not once. I really miss New Orleans and Louisiana culture period!!!
They are playing what they want to, parading where when they want to....we're a do what you want to kind of place, It's in our bones to rejoice..we just can't help it!
the walk from the funeral home to the grave is the only mournful part, thats when the mournful music is played, afterwards its all about celabration,of one going to a better place ,hence the upbeat, dancable groove,...its all about celabration
Fleur de lis(french) is the symbol and the english translation is flower of the lily. This is the official flower of the city of New Orleans. It is of French origin representing royalty and the meaning is perfection, life and light.
@Hunkola.......that symbol on the helmets is a fleur-de-lis, which was the symbol of the French monarchy around the time New Orleans was founded. The fleur-de-lis has, more or less, been adopted by the people of Louisiana as an homage to their French roots. It's on virtually everything down here......corporate logos, women's jewelry, decorative elements, and even NFL football helmets.
@rjelder Respectfully, you are correct. Also a tad incomplete. The Fleur-de-lis has been the symbol for the French Monarchy for many centuries. Most formerly French Colonies use the Fleur-de-lis. It can be found in Montreal, Quebec, and even Haiti. Even the Queen of England has Fleurs-de-lis in her crown...... France reigns supreme in all former French Colonies and even in England...... a realm once French now English !
LOL........cant say I ever saw a funk band with a horn section marching to a football game before.........but you folks in N'awlins got some flavor, motherfuckers !!
I love this video it displays New Orleans love, culture, and the city rebounding from Katrina... I wish I could be home to be part of this historical moment.

Isn't this TBC brass band? Whats the name of that second song they're playing? Nice groove.. . .
tallen87 2 years ago
OK thanks for explaining that.......but why bring a symbol of death & mourning to a Saints game that's supposed to be about winning and celebration?
Like I said.........I'm not from N'awlins so I don't understand the customs from that region of the country.

OK I think I get it now........but what's that peculiar symbol on the Saints helmets?
Like I said........N'awlins is full of strange things I just don't get.

OK now I understand........I always thought that symbol was from the tip of a medieval weapon of some sort.

OK thanks for explaining that......I've seen that symbol on the Saints helmets for many years and I presumed they owned a trademark on it.

@rjelder good response but don't forget that the fleur de lis is also an official symbol of the state. Gov Jindal made that a law.
