  • Great song. Why is not more popular? can't undersatnd it.

  • Great Linda song - This is such an Awesome song!!!

  • Just fantastic !... 'nuff said. ... Wayne

  • La amo.

  • tremenda voz

  • damn

  • she's the best

  • happy birthday, linda! 65 years young! love you! 7-15-11

  • she did this type of music [rock] so well, hervoice well suited for this material! though she's older now [like all of us], i'd love to see her record something similar in form to "mad love". that album is [ for me], what 1980 was all about!

  • I was a teen back when this came out and I was so in love with Linda. She could sing better then gaga and she was better looking then Kesha.Linda had class and man she could rock

  • お願いだから いいね~

  • yeah!

  • gawd, what is it about this woman that is so powerful. she captivated me as a child and still she has the power to make me rock, make me sigh, make me want her, make me move, make me jealous, make me love her. God bless you, linda. your a great inspiration.

  • I don't get the hate mail!! Enough! Linda is one of the best female vocalist ever!

  • Linda deserves her own Hall of Fame....

  • Linda Ronstadt, la mejor cantante del rock de la historia. De raices latinas. A pesar que en su epoca huo otra muy buena como Pat Benattar, Linda es la mejor..

  • I love Linda! what a voice!

  • es una de las mejores cantantes de todos los tiempos

  • Love her engery and style

  • punk didn't die, it was just stolen by linda ronstadt. among others

  • if only she could shift her fat to her boobs!

  • Wow. Now that is a rock voice.

  • She and Pat benatar needs to be in the Rock and Roll Hal of fame.

  • WOW!!!!!!

  • the drummer reminds me of hulk hoagan

  • @blackgoatvomit, that was the first thing I thought when I saw him, too! I also thought of Hulk getting flattened by Yokozuna, but that is another story.

  • Wow... I rember the song, but I don't remember Linda getting her hair cut like Sheena Easton/Pat Benatar...

  • What a great version of my favorite song by Linda !!!!!!!!!!!

  • The Queen of Rock was the most successful female artist in the 70's. Keeping her out of the Hall of Fame is like locking someone out of their own house!

  • Anyone know where I could get a complete DVD of this HBO Concert?

  • Wow..Sorry Tina and Britney, but She is the queen...

  • @tsekub57 Britney doesn't even belong in the same sentence as Linda.

  • That was superb.

  • This album is brilliant! What a talent!

  • This album is brilliant! What a talent!

  • R.I.P. Kenny Edwards. Thanks for the music.

  • Kootch!

  • LINDA HAS AMAZING RANGE POWER AND CONTROL!!!! LINDA IS QUEEN!!!!!!!!

  • POWER FULL VOICE!!!! SHE IS A GREAT GREAT SINGER!!!!!

  • linda for the hall of fame man !!! i agree with you

  • See Kenny Edwards singing harmony ...... must be givin' his bass a rest1

  • @bassflyer "Rest!" not "rest1".

  • ¡Chica caliente!

  • How did she go from looking so cool to looking like someone's secretary so fast?

  • That's Will Farrel singing back up!!!

  • I love to sing this song..Linda you know how to rock!!

  • What was overlooked at the time was that her "Mad Love" album simply reflected what was going in musically at the end of the 1970's and beginning of the 1980s. LR had been moving slowing to a more "modern rock/new wave" feel on her '78 "Living in the USA" LP. There are only 2 or 3 tracks that are vaguely "new wave-ish". Rest are modern rock.

"Mad Love" is simply a modern(for 1980) pop-rock album. It's not terrific or outstanding but it's a good, enjoyable, passionate pop-rock album.

  • ......This is good music. I love the 80s.

  • Like Bette Davis Eyes some best fake New Wave ever. Better than when Billy Joel tried it.

  • "New Wave"? You mean, simple, basic rock n roll.

  • At 2:03 who is pounding on the cowbell? nice job...

  • great!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @warholbcn

superb - great band - such energy

  • I LOVE singing at the top of my lungs to this one!

  • Brilliant..., no better pipes!

  • @fridaythe13thpartx Switch to decaf! Lighten up!

  • Linda has one of the best female country singers voices...she dosn't get enough credit! her voice is strong, warm and deep!

  • Nice economical yet totally hot solo starting at 1:03.

I love this type of playing and music.

    RnR 4-ever!!

  • @crapple009

    excellent guitar playing

  • Yes,indeed- all in all, great energetic RnR playing with ace band.

And she was belting it out,no doubt inspired by Debbie and Chrissie- two of my faves!

  • Great song! Thanks for sharing!

  • I'm as right wing as they come, yet Linda Ronstadt and Melissa Etheridge are 2 of my favorite female artist.....Freedom means allowing others to speak whether they agree with you or not...Linda's been a lefty since back in the 70's when she was married to Jerry Brown.....hehe

  • Well put Airbus9e.......likewise, I'm as right wing as they come (left-liberalism is statism, servitude to lawyer-politicians) but I don't pay attention to singers, actors and comedians making serious comments on politics.

Making political comments at concerts or other entertainment shows is soooo junior high school. Grow up. I for one, don't need BIg Daddy Government "guiding" my life.

  • Linfa was NEVER married. Dated Brown, not married.

  • God forbid Linda practice the free speech that Republicans are always ranting about. Linda has always been an outspoken Liberal. Stay away from her concerts if you are so terrified she may practice her rights to free speech and hurt your feelings. If you can't play then stay away.

  • @ronstadtfanaz - you need to learn the difference between republican and conservative. Ronstadt like Springsteen, like 95% of all millioniare "celebrities" made a fool out of herself suggesting that people should listen to Michael Moore - a fat hypocrite of a joke. Moores advocated the idea that George Bush had Moooslim jihadis attack the USA on 9/11/01 in a scheme to then give me an excuse to "invade" the Middle East and steal their oil. Geez, where to begin?

  • @Nessus07 why would anyone think that George W Bush would have anything to do with 9/11 and jihadis? Just because Bush's first business partner was Osama bin Laden's brother Saleem or just because the head of security at the World Trade Towers at the time was George Bush's brother Marvin or could it be because Bush and Cheney refused to testify about 9/11 under oath and the 9/11 Committee now says the official story is a lie.....hmm..you must be a fat hypocrite yourself.

  • @ronstadtfanaz - Moore also advocates and praises the Cuban healthcare system. Well, thanks for dirtly liberal/democrat tricks, the nation is now stuck with Obamacare, which about two-thirds of the public opposes and will cause more unemployment, less productivity and steal wealth as it transfers it to the so called "uninsured" - 99% loyal democrat voters. Nice scam Barry.

  • @Nessus07 god forbid the wealth Republicans transferred to the rich from the middle class be directed back to the middle class where it belongs. god forbid health care for all was passed using tactics Republicans use all the time and isn't it too bad that the Party Of No and Obstruction was outfoxed. ha way to go Barry!

  • @ronstadtfanaz Wait until november. For the past year and a half you guys have been running this country like spoiled children behind the wheel of a car for the first time. You've found out that its not so easy and you've crashed it. Failed stimulus packages, a health care law that no one wants, rising unemployment, failure to secure the border, Afghanistan not going well, energy taxes, botching the oil spill clean up. The adults will come back in November and clean up your mess.

  • @ronstadtfanaz too funny...why are repugs/conservos so viscious when it comes to Linda, or anyone else, practices free speech?

  • @adcan45 we are not vicious, we just want the rule if law to be observed when the issue of immigration is discussed. The law is out there...it has not been enforced

  • Linda needs to be in the R&R hall o fame.......nobody can sing as well as she can.

  • My God she can belt them out ! - awesome , superb backing band

  • @kronckjc Absolutely!! They need to stop their political games, inducting who THEY like, and put people with FAME in! Linda's been popular since the 60s and had hits in pop, rock, country, and Latin. I haven't always agreed with her song selection, but only a blind person would deny her popularity AND longevity!

  • @kronckjc If you have Facebook...add the page 'Linda Ronstadt should be in the R&R Hall of Fame" :-)

  • @kronckjc - Please, what a dumb-ass thing to say, there are plenty of gals who are as good if not better - but she does belong in the RRHOF - with a meatball sub in her mouth!

  • @kronckjc please don't forget Pat Benatar

  • I'm just saying the guys who spout extremist views never get questioned about whether or not they are lonely, or shrewish or hormonal, etc. If it bothers you for me to use Limbaugh, substitute Springsteen, Toby Keith or others who are upfront about politics. Same thing.

She has a right to say what she said. Her shows are amazing no matter who is in the audience. She didn't say she doesn't want to perform, she said she'd just rather not know the religious and political views of the audience.

  • Springsteen and Keith are much better examples. I agree a double standard exists for outspoken females and I fell into the trap. Thanks for setting me straight. You rock, sista!

    (Damn - I did it again...LOL...)

  • I remember this song from the roller skating rink, in the late 70's. Pre-Pat Benetar. Linda had a few good songs that were "harder" than her norm. Rock On!

  • MORE COWBELL!

  • To be clear - I despise her politics and think she is a very bitter and intolerant shrew.

That being said - she is the finest rock singer ever. Great voice , perfect pitch, and balls to spare.

There is no point in having a RNR HOF if she is not inducted. A travesty.

  • I love everything about her too- except her politics the last couple of decades-- oh well. She does seem to be somewhat bitter in general and sarcastic in the last few interviews I have seen her give. Why she is getting to be like this, I do not know- but it is a shame. Maybe she does really regret never marrying ??? She says she doesn't but- still- maybe she is afraid of being old and alone. She is 63 now

  • um, that sounded pretty sexist, friend. she takes umbrage against certain political situations in the us, and that somehow has something to do with the fact she isn't married? i've never heard anybody say something similar about a single man whos political views they disagree with. she may well not believe in marriage, and you don't know, she may have a partner or lover. even if she doesn't that doesnt naturally imply she's unhappy. anyway she's always been a liberal. i think shes a cool lady.

  • fuck you morron

  • Whatever you think about her politics, this is a very accomplished, talented woman. She can make her life whatever she wants it to be. She's raising her children. I seriously doubt she's alone. I'd be sarcastic too, given the nonsense she's been subjected to by the press and public in recent years. She has never really been one to tolerate the celebrity press game, even when she was younger.

  • Does anyone ever suggest that Rush Limbaugh is a bitter, intolerant shrew, or is afraid to be old and alone?

Not that I agree with all of Ronstadt's views, but I hear male celebs rant wildly about politics, etc., all the time, and it's perfectly acceptable. Why not female celebs? They seem to be subject to the most obnoxious verbal attacks and insults. They have as much right to speak their minds as anyone.

  • Rush is paid to make political observations. Linda is paid to sing. She will accept money from christians and conservatives but does not want to entertain them :

"It's a real conflict for me when I go to a concert and find out somebody in the audience is a Republican or fundamental Christian. It can cloud my enjoyment. I'd rather not know. "

  • I can understand calling someone who makes that statement intolerant. I don't think it was a good or smart thing to say. It's the "bitter shrew" label I wish wasn't there.

  • Fair enough Suzanne. I may have let my anger get the best of me because her statement is indefensable. She has made others as well.

We can both agree she is truly a remarkable singer. The best.

  • she's rocks ..damn good voice..i'm shocked no one has ever covered any tracks from MAD LOVE

  • tracy ullman had a show i forget what it was called but 'girls talk' was the theme song.

  • Mad Love is Linda at her best, imho.

A simply great ,however short-lived direction at that point in her career.

  • @crapple009

it was - apparently she didn't want to do country rock all the time , so she did New Wave style stuff , can't half belt them out better than Debbie Harry , Chrissie Hynde etc at the time ?

  • Her best song,by far

  • top female voice ever

  • Strong. But Peter Asher is not on that stage.

  • Linda was great. Love this song.

  • It was more than power pop, Mad Love was genuinely rock'nroll. Linda Ronstadt was the Queen of Rock for years. People forget that.

  • You are sooooo right my friend! I remember when from about 1974- tilll the early 80's= = Linda ruled!

  • I love Linda

  • I love this song!

  • Although she could have tried harder to rock out for the fade, LOL.

  • MAD LOVE got pounded when it was released because it was a departure for Linda, but I think it stands up today as a very fun power pop album. And as always, her voice is A-MA-ZING.

  • i saw Linda R this Mad Love tour

    i miss this about her

wish pop / rock Linda would come back

  • I loved the new-wave Linda!!!

The cretones backed her on this album...

  • K gran tema muy bueno alucinante

  • rodays girl singers cant touch her. shes miles above them pure vocal power

  • I remember being knocked by her vocal performance on this track on a Gt Hits CD , this is even better due to the band .

She wipes the floor with Pat Benatar and most singers today .

  • 懐かしい!

    I love this song

  • Very well put, "Pre-Pat Benetar"

  • is this a cover or was she the first one to record this?

  • Looking yummy as usual! MERCY!

  • She was the second rock female to have hits with New Wave music ("Can't Let Go" "Hurts So Bad" and "How Do I make You")

Despite this hit album and the three hit singels she was totally ignored at the Grammys that year.

  • who was the first one???

  • MAD LOVE is my fave Linda album.

  • Actually, this is from her "Mad Love" album which rocked pretty much from top to bottom! I was about 3 when this came out too! Jennifer Love Hewitt covered this at one point too.

  • She was just great!!!

  • she is so damn cute! Very sexy!
