I seperated my right shoulder, grade 2 after I was hit by a car on my bike rehabing my recent ACL surgery. For a year my shoulder was good, but then my right scapula started to wing. I have been doing phsio about 3 months now. Just wondering if you ever found a way to resolve your winging. Its really a silent killer because people can't really distinguish how irritating a winging scapula is. All day it's an uncomfortable ache with the bone protruding. Hope you have good news. I'm a physo, the sholder blade or scapula is winged, or sticking out more because of weakness. When you injured your ac joint, and rested, the muscle in your shoulder got weak. The muscles keep everthing together. Try press up, but standing up, and then progress by putting more weight onto the shoulder, until you can do a normal press up. you need to see a qualified physio to get a complete rehab program for your shoulder. It is called the shoulder complex, because it is exaclty that!!!
hey i have a shoulder that sticks up exactly like that and its been like that for a year or two but it doesnt hurt. can someone tell me if this is a bad thing? im really worried about it
@XTHEKEVINATORX I have the same problem. I am also pissed about it. Unfortunately it will stay sticke dup like that forever, but apparently it won't affect the shoulders performance.
In January I got an grade 2 ac separation. During a soccer game I was tackled from behind and I landed right on top of my shoulder, that's when I heard a loud pop sound. Hurt really bad, but i had to finish the game.. And recently I finished therapy about 2 weeks ago. (5months later)
I got mine 3 months ago, motor cycle accident, I fell on my shoulder, surgery is a lot of money so I try to find a fix on the net, the sling did not help me at all, i dont have pain, it is about 1 inch out of alignment, next step is tape, hope it helps.
I recently did a grade 3 separation with 22.5mm of separation.. it blows. Its been about 3 weeks. How long has everyone else kept the sling on for? I've been told by most people they take it off at 3 weeks, my physio wants me to keep it till 6. Is that right?
If there is no deformity on the AC joint itself than you have a 1st grade separation. Your shoulder will hear to ~95 % just rest it DO NOT work out or try and be a hero. I wish I only had a 1st grade separation. Its been 8 months and I can only do a fraction of the pushups I could do before. Range of motion is key. see a physio therapist and they will give you excersises to strengthen the little muslces around the joint. This injury is permenant so please look after your shoulders people.
Hey guys i need some help. I injured my ac joint boxing and arm wrestling. Had a grade 1 but didnt go see a doctor so turned into grade 2. Didnt even take a lot of NSAID's. But 5 months later it still hurts a lot and i cant type much even. I have no visible defority just dull pain and popping sound. What u guys think how long before i get better? and what can be done to feel better? except ice and advil?
Dude, mines way worse. It was a Grade 3 8mm separation, and 6 months from then, its over an inch high! I didnt have surgery, but might have to because I reaggravated it in football.
mine too, I flipped a quad backwards while climbing a hill, landed clean on a rock with my shoulder. I'm only 3 weeks in. grade 3. I'm already to the point where it doesn't hurt as much and have mostly full range motion. But also sticks up an inch or more. pops lot when I have weight in my hand. its the AC and "CC" ligaments torn IMO. I know I need surgery but the Drs are quacks in America when you have no insurance. How did you help heal? does the deformity ever go away? does strength return
It will pop forever, thats just part of it. The deformity is permanent too, but like I said, I went to the doctor this morning, and it isn't supposed to say so high. They said a surgery at that point is optional, but I wont be continuing football, so it would be redundant. Since riding quads isnt exactly stressful for the shoulder, you prolly wont need it either. I kept it in the sling for 3 weeks to help heal. Be careful about weights. It often aggravates it and you wont have full strength.
Hey, I suffered a separation almost 2 years ago, and had months of therapy (no surgery as it'd already healed -incorrectly) to regain use of my arm (I could use my hand and aside from curling up my forearm that was it). Some days I hurt like hell, but most days are ok without needing pain relief. I still have chronic popping. I have a weight limit of 10-25lbs depending on how it's distributed. Keeping up with my exercises helps, even though my arm will never be the same again. Keeo going strong!
How is your shoulder doing now? Keep exercising and it should be fine
