  • When you tape off the outside edge of the screen, why can't you tape the other side and then you can just lay the tape flat?

  • Thanks alot man...I have really learnt alot from this video.

  • seems very time consuming for the tiny profit.

  • @youdave777 it really is. you put in alot of work in silk screening and the profit you get is small

  • @youdave777 you make your money on volume. I know a guy who owns a screen printing company in Virginia, he owns an incredible house and ONE of his cars is a magnum pi ferrari...all paid for with t shirts & ink :)

  • thanks

  • thanks

  • great work

  • i have some wood cases that are need to put logo, if i gonna use silkscreen what mesh size and paint do i need.

  • is the heat gun specifically for screen printing or could you use a hairdryer or something similar??

  • A hairdryer won't get hot enough. To cure plastisol ink the temp of the ink has to reach 320 F.

  • what about water based ink ?

  • use a heat gun for water based inks as well...... don't bother with a hairdryer...... heat guns aren't expensive....

  • @Ryonet what if you held the hairdryer on for longer would it not work then

  • @MrHornyxoxox1 it will not get hot enough, 320 degrees to cure plastisol, you would need a heat gun.

  • what kind of ink is use?

  • I'll be starting some silk screening pretty soon here on shirts. Does anyone know a good blank T shirt vendor?

  • american apparel

  • thanks :)

  • Hope they pay this dude well, straight business man!

  • lol! He owns the company that sells screen printing supplies and machines, if you do a little research you'll see he's paid pretty damn well ; )

  • wow. A little hostile there eh?

  • zzzzzzzz

  • LOL....WAKE UP!!!! Just kidding. So here's the deal. We will have a brand new, total screen printing lesson DVD done by January first. This video is from our first and now ancient (relatively speaking) original DVD 101. Look for the replacement January 2009!

  • how did u transfer a sketched art or design into the velum?

  • Usually you import the art into a computer and then print it using an inkjet printer.

  • can you mix plastisol inks to make new colors?

  • Yes, you can also do it officially by getting the pantone mixing system and mix all the different colors you want.

  • Super Service When I order

  • Kiss me Im Irish?? why peepole like say that?

  • Great, thanks alot.

  • is it possible to cure the ink using the halogen lamp used to transfer the image? that thing gets ver hot but I'm not sure if the "light" could damage the color.

  • everytime i back flood i get on the other side of my screen, i mean like a thick layer and it ruins everything, so have to clean it off, its just a hassle..how do i keep from doing that?

  • maybe its about the ink, or you've got lower density of the screen...

  • Hey, I just wanted to say thank you for the GREAT info. Keep up the great work. I was wondering what ink you recommend for t shirts: plastisol or water based speedball type? To me it seems like plastisol would be more permanent but has more of a noticeable hand. I can't hardly clean plastisol out of my screens though so it doesn't lend itself to switching ink colors readily.

  • i want start to making t-shirts what better sublimation or screen printing like that?

  • when you put the ink on the bottom of the image, doesn't the paint soak through the screen and get on the shirt?

    Gr8 vid

  • No the ink only comes through the screen where the emulsion has been washed out.

  • AMAZING JOB GUYS!!!! I learned a lot today =D

  • Glad to hear it!

  • I bought my equipment & supplies from Ryonet & they are great! Best deal ANYWHERE. Awesome C.S. also. Thanks guys!

  • No thank you!

  • thanks for the help!

i´m from brazil, and i´d like to try this kind of thing... so im looking for help, and this video was a great demonstration.

    nice job! =)

  • Good video, good info...BUT...I need to screenprint on wood specific sizes and don't know where to begin...no T shirts...just wooden cases...Thanks

  • thanks for the lessons

  • Sure, hope they help.

  • I bet it takes this guy a long time to get a job done...

  • These sort of comments are so silly. Constructive feedback is always welcome but we (as a company) don't screen print, we sell the supplies. We are very efficient at what we do and look to help as much as we can. Being negative just for the sake of being negative seems like such a waste of energy.

  • Ok, I'll give you that you covered the basic ideas behind screenprinting. I apologize for my negative comment. There probably isn't anything wrong with how things are done if you are just doing a few shirts for yourself. If you're trying to run a shop, there are more efficient and quicker ways of doing things. I'd say watch the video to get an idea of whats going on but find someone with some experience to help you with any problems you'll run into.

  • thanks. We do have a portion of one of our videos covering production printing which would be more useful for that purpose. This method is for learning. Thanks for the feedback.

  • i totally agree with you. i stared out printing for about a year now but when i saw your vid, i was moved! i never imagined that such materials and preparations were done very carefully. lucky for you guys you have all the resources needed for the job. in our country, we do things the " short cut way"

so its too risky =(.. thanks so much for the vid, its so very helpful.

  • LOL, that's funny you say that, someone else made that comment. We didn't really want to go fast when we're trying to teach people how to do it. Doesn't that make sense?

  • Good video and good company. I just ordered some stuff from you guys for the fifth time and you always come through. Awesome customer service too. Thanks for being there.
