heyyy you´ve seen what you have achieved by not consider those pieces of advice! go ahead Felipe!! he was WROOOOOONG, and with work you are making it!
man u can call it whatever u want, manga just means comic in japanese. U have all rights to draw manga and call it that. Besides tho u gotta know how to market ot get out ur comics to the ppl. youtube is a good way to do that but still u know the manga's gotta be good. Ima check out ur stuff man and good luck with ur projects. ur a great artist

I agree with the store owner, actually, in a way. To me, manga is a comic published for a Japanese audience. (Though, I don't think nationality has anything to do with it.) But no one said that manga is better than other comics. I don't see why y'all are so hung up on calling it manga. It's just a medium; if you say that manga must have certain themes, then you're saying if a Japanese person makes a comic for friends, and it doesn't have those themes, it's not manga. It's like novels, or TV.
Dude the points I make are valid. They are not based on just what you think lol. How can you say they are just wrong. I think maybe you should try and put out your own book ( if you can ) before you start to make any arguments on what the market will do. Their are lots of purest that want to buy manga from Japan point blank. They have been doing it for many years. No one said that American done Manga won't be bought, but of the two which do you think have bigger sales??????
If you read my post correctly I say just that??? So not sure what you are really talking about. If you don't like Felipe's work you don't have to buy it. If you think that it does not all come down to the dollar and what drives the market, I suggest you ask someone.
Well, Felipe, turns out you were right! Your philosophy and outlook on life payed off, congratulations on getting into Morning 2! The only non Japanese to do it... So far. I'm hoping others out there will join you in your success. Keep it up! Revolt!!
The old guy does make a valid biz point. I can see the public wanting manga made in Japan vs manga done from another country or someone not Japanese. Now do I think that this should be the case, of course not. I think people should do want they want and draw what they want. In fact currently the trend is to mix both styles Manga and Northern America. Look at Sean Cheeks works and these other guys out now. Again Felipe does great work and I would buy it but the old guy sees numbers and what moves
XD You're silly, and I've heard of it, haven't read it yet, but I gotta eat to! HAHA! Did you go straight for the boobies? Manga is not for Japanese people, manga is for nerds, and nerds are international. And anyone can draw it, if they choose to. Your friend's a nutter! XD Ou I love this song!
man. i make all my friends read MBQ. They all love it! Pretty soon you'll have to deal with me and my destiny of becoming the greatest manga creator. Only then will the true battle begin. I gotta get LeSean too, but that's a different story entirely. Anyway. Good stuff you're putting out here. I look forward to volume 3.
Spanish artists draw Bande Dessinée! (And it's called BD)
Japanese artists draw American comic books! (And it's called comics)
So... Why the heck can't Americans, Spanish, French or anyone else draw Manga (and call it manga)?! Stop being purists, the territorial barriers are being broken and a certain DNA can't own an art style!
I've read MBQ and it's great, your characters are very expressive and interesting and the situations are so hilarious! Don't be discouraged and continue creating more great manga stories the way you want to!
You should be able to go far since you seem to be very "overly"-motivated. Seems like no matter what he had to say you never really felt "down" I really respect that.
I'm also pretty surprised at your fluency in those three languages, it's a good skill.
Hah - good to see you again, viejo amigo. Ha sido demasiado tiempo, pero aun recuerdo este tienda y nuestros viajes alli por la fin de la semana. Best of luck in promoting your book, old friend - I believe in you.

MBQ is awesome I just read the first three issues and found it hilarious. It's not the usually grown man in tights and a cape comic but more.

What if we got in a war with Japan, and we had to call manga, "freedom comics"? lol
I think manga is more about style than anything else. OEL Manga works as a term, but I believe manga is about more than the country of origen.

The comic book guy is part of dying old generation of comic book people, but our genaration is more open-minded and will buy stuff that's good.
Whether it's OEL Manga or Japanese Manga good stuff sells.
