Ha, excellent intro but I would like to add that before “Silent Hunter” there was “Aces of the Deep”.

Also the German Naval Command knew that when allied shipping production in tonnage exceeded axis destruction of shipping in tonnage the war was essentially over. A technical knockout, they lost about 1943.

I keep trying to tell people the TRUE meaning of the swastika but they jump to conclusion saying that it is a sign of evil but in fact it was used THOUSANDS of years before the Nazi's came into existence. And yes and no about how Hitler used it. He wanted overall peace but he wanted it achieved is way or the highway. (For everyone out there I DO NOT support Nazism or what they did, I'm just simply stating the truth)

You deserve a better job! Usually these videos have a boring(/ed) voice that narrates them, but yours is passionate, cursive and entertaining. That's CV material right there :)

About the game... I really really tried... SH5 is much better than SH2, but it's littered with bugs and awkward control. I was a huge fan of SH3 and having that as a reference point I was really disappointed of this game.

Hopefully, your video will get me back on it... :)

Hey! I just found you're LP's on this game and I'm loving them! The game looks totally cool. I love that you play as a Nazi U-Boat Captain - that shizz rocks!! I lol'd at the size of Germany's fleet compared to Great Britain but the German U-Boat really did fwack UK to the breaking point of nearly losing the war. I also agree with you mate that history is important to know and learn - keep up this LP!!!

Great video. Just to complement on the swastika symbolism it isn't illegal just in Germany. In a number of other countries it is also a crime to display the swastika, including Hungary, Poland and even Brazil.

My Great grandfather was one of the u-boat captains sunk during WWII. As the story goes, he was essentially impressed into the German navy and rose to captain before the war.

having automatic targeting system and map contacts defeats the whole purpose of the game in my opinion. You're left with nothing more than a shooter, point and aim. hopefully ill see it turned to manual in future videos in the next videos. there's a lot of tutorial videos on youtube on how to manually aim and its a lot more rewarding when you sucessufully sink a ship.

Back in the nineties/early 2000s, combat sims still strove for realism, but were a great deal more accessible. Somewhere along the line, the leap was made from things like the Janes games and EF-2000 to contraptions which require a million keyboard commands just to start the engines. These days, it's a choice between that or things like the horridly superficial 'HAWX' series.

Realism AND accessibility = fun!

@Xenomorphine thing is, i don't agree its inaccessible at all. Its actually pretty easy once you learn how to do it, it just looks complicated. In this day and age when you can just look up video tutorials online nothing is inaccessible in my opinion. And to me part of the fun is learning how to do it and then successfully doing it. Even harcore sims like falcon 4 or DCS A10, its only complicated until you know how to do it then its easy. Concerning silent hunter is really not that difficult...

@DVAFP I tried to do the manual version in 3 and 4, but could honestly never get the hang of it. An option to have it taken care of is really the best compromise: People who don't want to, don't have to and it allowed me to focus on tactics and strategy, rather than calculating firing solutions. :)

As for things like the DCS series, watching tutorials of what it takes to turn on the A-10/Black Shark were what stopped me purchasing them. I don't want arcade, but don't want a memory test, either!
