  • Do you teach the tricks to your dog as you do these videos or does she already know them? Love your work!

  • as your dog is a german shepherd which is one of the intelegent breeds wont it be a lot more difficult doing this with a dog who is less clever???

  • @danno12234 ive always thought german shepherds as the most intelligent breeds and ive always wanted to have one, til one day i brought home a mutt and i trained it and for a mutt he has learned so many things in less than a few months all dogs can be intelligent if you provide them with proper training

  • How old is your dog? it's very smart, you taught it very nice.

  • Does using a clicker mean that I will have to continue using it whenever I want my dog to do something, for the rest of it's life?

  • In a few weeks, I will be giving a home to my first puppy- very exciting! I really enjoy your informative and inspiring videos. Do you have a video on crate training please? Thanks for your fab work and the love of dogs that you share with us. Jo

  • shoot it

  • where did you get the clicker?

  • pause at 0:29 and it looks like he's high, oh by the i love your german shepherd , i have one of my own

  • ok so i think ive just watched every single one of ur videos and i just have to say that i am in awe. you must be the most patient animal lovers ive ever come across. your German Shepherd is gorgeous and soo incredibly intelligent. you two must have an amazing relationship. i am soon going to be buying two grey and white siberian huskys and i will be watching ur videos everyday to make sure my training is perfect. thankyou :)

  • This was so helpful. I have watched several of your videos and i love them. I appreciate how easy and straight forward your techniques are. I see my 4 month old puppy responding well to your method to stop biting and nipping. Is she too to teach to calm down or go to her mat? Which commands should I wait to teach her until she is older?

  • Your video is very useful and very easy to understand. My dog now obeys me very well. Can you please upload a video "How to train your dog to be silent at night".

  • Great video, very helpful!

  • God,I wan a GERMAN

  • LOVE YOUR VIDEOS! THANKS SO MUCH!

  • I tried this with my little brother, and it didn't work...he took the candy and walked away.

  • genial!!

  • whats that clicking noise??

  • I get carried away rewarding with play. Sometimes I just lose track of time and just keep playing and playing. My ACD is a distraction to me. He's just awesome.

  • um my dog is really old and when ever i take him outside and theres another dog he starts whining and jumping and when he approches the dog he trys to bite them what can i do???!!! PLZ LIKE THIZ SO HE CAN RESPOND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • where can i buy a dog clicker?

  • @lexiebug2 Really???

Uhh.... Walmart, Petco, Petsmart, any pet supplier.

  • I taught my dogs and my friends dogs this without treats, they should do it for you not for food.

  • Tab and Solea... I wonder if this guy plays flamenco guitar or listens to spanish flamenco.

  • Thanks for your videos and what a lovely dog !

  • Your hard work is appreciated! Really Like how you rewarded the release. Nice yard. I enjoy the flowers from drought stricken TX.

  • um dont your dog gets confused because you use the clicker for everything? like for come you use the clicker nd for staying you use the clicker?

  • @XvitalikX the clicker is just a marker. it marks the behavior you want repeated. kind of like saying "good!" but a little more precise.

  • hey.

    idont like clicking.

    wat else can i use?

  • I have a 6 week old German Shepherd, and I really struggle with training. I was just looking for ways to train it and this was what i found. Thanks for telling me(everyone that saw this) how to train him.

  • What kind of treats do you use that you can give her alot because i can't give my dog alot of the treats i have... she'll get really sick.

  • Fun and work perfect only few days

  • at 1:57 he "shapes a down" with his left index finger. very slick.

  • hey :( help me lol please :(

so i saw the dog and it's really cute but the dog is actually given to us my his real owner and the dog has tears in his eyes and like when i want to pat him he runs away or bark to me :( :'( :'(

he's now making me feel bad and sad :( what should i do now :( i just want a dog that is good, playful , kind, friendly and always listens to me all the time :(

how can i even calm him down if i can't even go near him or even he won't listen to me :( -.-

  • @cherrybloom22 I think you need help from a professional dog behaviorist on a 1 to 1 base. Best thing to start building trust and a good relationship is hand-feeding - but since I don't know your dog it might be dangerous. So seriously invest in a dog trainer/behaviorist who is working force free and has experience with rescue dogs. You need patience and good vibes to get the dog to trust/like you - they pick up on your feelings before you do yourself. Remember dogs are NOT toys or robots!

  • wow

  • Iv got a 6 nd a half month old labradoodle, hes got wise to the clicker he knows if the clicker makes a noise he gets a treat, nd now if i try to just do the hand signal and pretend to throw a treat he just looks at me as if to say 'yeah right' .. if i point nd say 'mat' he just barks at me but will slowly back towards his mat but still bark until i say my release phase 'come on then' as he knows if he stays and comes off when i ask he gets a treat. help

  • on 1:25 on the right corner you can see three shits

  • @4luckycharmz that's not dog poop.

  • Is that a german shephard puppy? i had one but had to dismiss it cause it was turning to an army dog :( heard same problem with all of the german shephards

  • @WorthDieN4 use a word that gets them excited such as yes or good job

  • What if you don't have a clicker? :(

  • How big is that Crate??? My dog is literally an oversized German Shepherd (even the vet says) so...how big is the crate??? And one more thing. SMART DOG!!!

  • I've been watching a lot of your videos, and finally tried this one on my dog. It was awesome to see her actually get the this. :-)

  • you sir, are a badass

  • Great tutorials tab289... can you post some training methods in which you reduce the amount of treats/ and or clicks (or indicate the respective vid if this has already been done...) keep them coming :)

  • Such a smart dog!

  • Really great video and explanation, must teach my dog this, I have a bc, and she is very smart, thanks for posting this vid.

  • my dog is super hyper, he is a puppy and he has so much energy, i cant even stand up without him jumping all around me..so it did not work for me, but thanks anyways

  • I agree that you are an excellent instructor, and, honestly, one of the few I watch here. You cover all the steps clearly, anticipate problems (bcs it never go textbook perfect in RL) and you always display a professional and positive attitude. Thank you for these wonderful videos! (smiles) I sincerely hope you go on to bigger things with your skills.

  • Whats "clicking"?

  • @Georgeee1995 clicking is a click noise made by a clicker that tab uses for training Solea. You can get a clicker at any local pet store. hope this helped!

  • Thanks so much Tab! I just tried this with my 5 month old German Shepherd and he caught on with only a few tries! We still have a little ways to go, but he will definatley get it. (we have to do it without a clicker since i lost mine:(

  • Hi, I find your videos extremely helpful ! My dog is a 4-year old German Shepherd that I rescued from the shelter. Whenever we walk and se sees people playing ball/frisbee she FREAKS OUT and stops listening.... I usually have to ask these people to stop playing so I can step forward without the dog dragging me around... She listens pretty well but this situation is an exception, I don't know what to do. She jumps around and the skin of my hands is damaged afterwards by pulling the leash...

  • Hello! I like your videos. Actually I am using it for my puppy training. I saw your dog's crate on this video. What is the brand of the crate. I would like to get it for my Puppy and I really liked it. I have a small one now but I need to change it to big size because my puppy growing so fast. Please let me know about your dog crate.

  • Can You Use AnyThing in Place Of A CLICKER like..a bell or a whistle?

    Solea is a sweetheart i have a German shepherd too !! :-)

  • Thank you for taking your time to share with everyone, the methods and techniques you've found. I recently found your videos on Youtube and I'm looking forward to working with my dog Lucy. Keep it up!

  • good tutorial, thank you

  • Hello, lovely vid. One Q on my GS

At home he can get quite "frustrated", biting on all small things he can find around the house etc.. I understand it if he have not gone for a walk in a long time/ needs to do his ..things.. But! When I've just walked him for let say, an hour, he can sometimes still be like this!

I was starting to think that he just was "this type of dog", untill we brought him to our cabin. Here he lied around on the floor and was relaxing all the time.

    Why?! What should I do?

  • Your videos are very useful. I must step up the training with my 4 month old as I am lazy sometimes and go a few days without training him. No wonder his training is a bit hit and miss (ie., he obeys commands when he feels like it!)

  • I have no clicker. But I tried my effort to settle down my annoying dog!

  • If have no clicker, What must have to do?

  • should i be using a clicker too

  • my dog chewed up his mat and drags it around were he pleases

  • @jetmax30 LMAO.

  • @ladykiller200010 yeah.....& hes made big 2 big holes on each side of his kennel.....he uses them as windows......LOL....and he can fit through them....theyre pretty big...

  • I have watched every one of your training videos and I think you are doing a great job. Please keep them coming and help us understand and train our companions in a positive and loving way.

  • awesome videos! i subscribed! much better than those dumb action/expert villiage ones.

  • beautiful dog! I have a shepherd myself. and great lesson!

  • Great video. One thing I found to encourage identifying the mat and staying on it longer early on is to build a 2' or 3" platform to fit the mat ( $3 bath mat from Wally-World) My pups have learned to identify their color mat, how I'm not sure...more likely smell

  • This was quite good. Worked very well with my dog. I love your methods: creative, posetive, and encourages the dog to figure out what its meant to do..mentally engaging, which is the best for German Shepherds. Well done.

  • @gavroash I'm glad to hear that you had success with it. The process is just as, if not more important than the end result.

  • whata great video, the exercise is really helpfull in a number os exercises and your explanation is simple and easy to follow. Great job both of you! Eager to see some more :D

  • I 've seen that collar before :) Great video! Still working on the Cover Your Eyes video response. I wanted to add Jump for Joy in it also so it may be awhile.

  • @AlmondBear I'm sure you have! That's great- I can't wait to see it :-)

  • nice ^^ love your videos

can you please tell me how to share this video to my youtube friends :S

I am a bit lost with the new youtube layout

  • @shahou88 I was just looking and I'm not sure if this is possible with the new layout? Anyone?

  • @tab289 =( now its hard to share with all friends :( I wana share this video :( ill have to copy the link i guess !!!!

still dont see why they changed it to be worse than the first one

aww well there is nothing that we can do =(

  • what's shaping and how do you do it?? Nice video, Solea is so cute and a quick learner as well. well done. 5* for figuring out what to do.... ;)

  • @nataliawasilewska97 In a nutshell, it is rewarding small steps towards the desired behavior that one is trying to teach, gradually raising criteria and letting the dog figure out on their own by trying different things, what is being taught. I might explain this better in a video. Hope that helps.

  • Nice tutorial. It's always fun to watch Solea, she has such a sweet face.

  • @tehrenberg Thank you!

  • Great video again!:)

  • great video! this is going to come in handy for teaching kali to settle down. she tends to get extremely excited around her meal times. i never thought of teaching her to go to her mat while i prepared her dinner:)

Solea is a beautiful name for a dog, what is its meaning to you? most names have a generalized or "from the book" meaning, but i find it interesting to know what the personal meaning of the dogs name is to his or her parents:)

  • @WolfOfShadows1986 Solea is a basic form in Flamenco music. A combination of rhythm/melody, that I really enjoy playing. It was actually a friend that helped me name her - so I can't take full credit there!

  • @tab289

its good name a dog after something you really enjoy. i name my dogs and cats the same way,or use my intuition to name them.a name has to have a special meaning to the "pet's" care taker. naming them"spot" just wont do,lol:) Kali is short for Kallisto Lucifera, which means most beautiful light bearer.she brings so much happiness and light into my life.Kali is also the name of a hindu goddess that i have a affinity for. my pups name meaning is something with very spiritual meaning to me:)

  • Excellent video, very instructional. You're a great instructor, very creative, and your dog is so beautiful. I look forward for more of your awesome videos !

  • @purpleforestwolf Thank you! I look forward to making them :-)
