It's not the crop you should be worried about when it comes to horseback riding, it's the structural bone damage that gets done when the training starts at a very young age. And yes, they do actually hit them with the crop.

Did you ever notice what has been the winner at the start?

According to Regulations, any race racehorse every 4 strides to be beaten. So they have time to react. As it is there, I do not know. Here in Germany, this is so.

I have a horrid question, if mules are sterile are they still born with male and female genitalia? Do they attempt to mate?

Yes they do. But the male mules are sloppy at it.

But when mules with female genetalia, enter in heat, they act very sweet and funny, so the horses go and mount them. It is not a regular event though.

Since they race them at quarter horse distances, maybe most of them are QH crosses.

Most of these mules came out of big short coated mules crossed with thoroughbreds.

Mules are out of a male donkey and a female horse. A Hinny is a cross between a male horse and a female donkey. I was confused... :') Anyway. Not all mules are sterile.

No teir not, Mules are excellent for pulling extremely heavy carts that even draft horses can`t pull, they also are extremelly good for learning tricks, jumping, dressage, etc... They have their own competitions for them.

Thats impossible,a draft horse as more muscles and thicker bones. there is no way a trained cart mule could beat a trained cart draft. But mules are awesome

Actually no, it`s not, mules muscles and bones are tuffer and their feet are much harder. And if crossed with a draft, they`re excellent for that sorta thing. They even used teems of them to pull trains across the U.S. during the railroad construction.

The worlds strongest horse is a shire... not a mule shire.... They alos used mustangs to pull the train... You don't see them pulling heavy machinary everyday now do you compared to the shires and clysdales....

Ya, they did have mustangs pull them somtimes...especially if your going by Spirit =P They did, though, but they also used mules.

Shires are the strongest horse, but here`s where it gets ya, mules aren`t horses. And ya, obviousely you see more shires and clydsdales pulling things becouse they`re considered more "flashy". But mules are better for hevier loads. I have studied equines since I was little, every thing from zebras to donkeys and everything in between.

Spirit... What is spirit? And I still believe your wrong. Becuase a donkeys bones are much more fragile the na draft so if you cross them the bones are not going to be as stron ass a purebred shire.
