You know what, I got my little theory on this:

when he first joined the band, I think Robert was allowing him to do his own thing, but he's now expected to play more of a "typical" Cure style since the last 2 records, wich very much resemble Boris' stuff IMO,

I prefer the drums on Wild Mood Swings. I thought it was refreshing to hear a more fleshed out, subtle drumming on a Cure record, and he's playing well too!

Now it just sounds like he's trying too hard.
