I've had my Samsung captivate for about 2 months now and I must say that no phone's video quality can compare to the captivate. A friend of mine has the i phone 4 from Verizon and we played a game walk-through from Youtube. Absolutely destroyed the i phone 4. AMAZING!

Samsung Galaxy S suffers lag with its sh!t RFS outdated filing system.

Put 2.2.1 on it, with an updated filing system should perform much better.

Hopefully Samsung will pull their heads out of their arse's and put ext4 file system on Galaxy S. Bet it will beat most phones.

OK can someone reply to me. I have been complaining ever since I got my Captivate a few months ago how slow and how much it freezes up. I just did the Linpack test, and it is giving me around 8-8.5 MFLOPS, but takes around 10 seconds. I see on these phones it never takes more than a second for the test. So am I right, is there something wrong with my phone?

Captivate is a fantastic phone, just one thing to keep in mind, the touchwiz UI is pretty laggy and I reccomend anyone who gets the phone to get a different launcher from the marketplace. Other than that this phone is fantastic. I like it so much better than my old iphone. =)

Also just to compare the two, the iphone is probably the worst 'phone' on the market. It does everything else well, but the call quality (both reception and earpiece sound) is awful. I also dont like how restricting the iphone (and Apple in general) has become.

Anyway, I used to fear Samsung, but they've really, really improved over the years.

I dont support apple at all as far as electronics are concerned. iTunes is great but anything else they sell (except for Mac... quality device I tell you what..) is just trying to grab at your money. The iPhone for example. You have to jailbreak it if you dont want to get songs from iTunes. But of course, that voids your warranty. The apps try to push the thin line between free and costly apps. Free app but to unlock things in it will cost you. The iPad? Larger iPhone with less features.

I mean that they sell free apps that blend seemlessly with paying money in the app. Like a full racing app, but to unlock cars you pay real money. The iPad is just a large version of the iPhone with less features.

Just got the Captivate and the HIGHLY recommend it. The Super AMOLED screen is BEAUTIFUL and the 1 GHz Hummingbird in it makes it fast and slick.

P.S. don't waste your money o a shitty iPhone 4

@Dilekz Yes they are :) I have been using apple computers for 20 years and I was floored when i saw the Android OS. I tried the iP4 and the new windows phone which is slick in its own right but the Android OS just has way too much to offer plus its got huge support now. I believe in the next 2 years its going to give Apple a run for its money its already started.

As well Apple has dominated the pocket media market for quite sometime so it has established itself as a solid product for the last decade. Droid OS ( a relative new comer ) is a strong contender but mostly in no small part due to the DNA Droid and OS share. I love the iPhone dont get me wrong, i "played" with 3 phones using 3 different Os's and it was hard but the Droid won. Im a 20 year apple guy ...

In fact I was an original beta tester for OSX and must have sent apple 30 + emails on bugs and such. The first and second installations of OSX where to say the least disappointing it wasn't until "Panther" that OSX began to strut its stuff. The Classic Mac OS was beautiful in its simplicity and very reliable ..I believe The Linux based OS is about to change the game on more than just phones

Galaxy S have the fastest CPU, GPU and RAM. So you can already tell. Galaxy S phones have their framerates locked at 56 though.

Why is it that the HTC desire despite having the much touted 1GHZ processor is so awfull when it comes to gaming? I mean the frame rate was so bad on the desire..The game looks super fluid even on my 2g ipod touch. I am not an apple fan boy or anything but this is just an honest question.

Nexus one has Android version 2.2 the latest. Supposed to be 3-5X faster than Android 2.1. The other 3 phones have version 2.1, but will have them later.

the samsung galaxy line running the Hummingbird processor has the same CPU as the Iphone 4 they are both ARM Cortex A8 based. The GPU however is another story iphone 4 and 3GS are both running the PowerVR SGX535 GPUs while the Hummingbird is running the PowerVR SGX540 which is currently the mobile graphics king.
