i consider this album a perfect masterpiece...im a music teacher and of course,musician....and i say this is one of the few greatest....no one has ever equalate this carcass's work.....simply pecfect!!!!
@SentaMentalJimmy I saw them at their last tour date in America (I think), California metalfest and let me tell you if you ever get the chance dont you fucking miss them INPROPAGNATION FUCKIN ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the moment i listened to this album(this song even) i seriously just felt shocked-at how fucking awesome it was-beautifully constructed, awesome solos, and one hell of a brutal voice.carcass are a credit to this nation alone,if not the whole world\m/
Great to see how Carcass evolved since their debut Reek Of Putrefaction.
But Reek... isn't really an album, it's more a document. The invention of Goregrind.
When you don't know shit about metal you might think it's just a pile of noise made by some stoned teenagers but grind bands have been influenced by that ever since it came out!
And by their third album they play something completely different so you can clearly see how they evolved :) .
Although I think Exhume to Consume remains unmatched.
maybe a favourite though cause swansong and heart work are not as good as their earlier stuff. I saw them in nz a couple of weeks ago they were awesome
Necroticism and Heartwork are their best albums...those years where their best...or should i say that right now their fuckin awesome...?In Rockwave Festival they had an incredible performance...
Man, I would KILL to see these guys...I bought this album when it came out, after hearing 'Incarnated Solvent Abuse' on the Masters Of Brutality comp...Wow, I'm old...;)
carcass are fucking amazing, there songs are awesome, everything about this band i love, really sucks about ken. BUT THESE GUYS ARE FUCKING GREAT!!!! GRINDCORE AT ITS BEST!
fuck that shit, INPROPAGATION is my favorite Carcass song...just play this song at my funeral bitches then you'll hear the real beauty of this song...
I know the feeling brother of metal, when I die I'm gonna make sure that song be played at my funeral because Carcass are the Almighty Gods Of Grind!!!
I do like this album but i prefer older carcass especially reek of putrefaction its the only one that the only way to describe as is an organic sound wich is what drew me to the band to begin with and as far as this one is concerned im partial to incarnated solvent abuse.
My favorite Carcass album bar none. It is just so fucken special like the self titled Mr. Bungle album and Dream Theater's "Images & Words" which were released the same time as this.
were Bullen, Harris and Broaderick playing as fast as Repulsion though? I've heard bits of their 85 demo "Hatred Surge" and it is quite a tempo down from "Scum". Still, the entire crossover: SOB, Heresy, ENT, ND, Filthy Christians, Carcass, Terrorizer, etc, etc. Oh what happy days!!!
Agreed with you, Carcass and Napalm did create grindcore, but Carcass was more on the metal side, and Napalm was more on the hardcore side. I would condiser carcass more of a death metal band, but they did help create grindcore without a doubt
Yeah but they helped create the grindcore and there early works are a bit towards the Grindcore style like Napalm Death... so i consider them to have made, alongside Napalm of course, the Grind Death genre! Carcass of course kickass and its all about "buried dreams", and i wish i could see them at wacken this year!
indeed when i listen to this album it is hard to imagine someone could make something even better , but that is just my opinion, but that doesn't stop me from hoping someone does
Stuart Gordon or Herbert West would be proud of this masterpiece.

There is something undeniably awesome mixed with the growling and thrashing of instruments.
