****The knobs on the plays player screen such as frequency, decay, pan etc do not automatically map to my akai midi.....Its weird because the piano keys on play automatically map to my akai midi piano keys once i hit settings click on midi and checked my midi controller.....How to i get the knobs and faders on plays player screen to map to my akai midi controller?
LOL. Did you really just take 2 mins to read everything on the screen? XD Besides that, great demo and great playing. East West did a good job too. :)
Hello, can I write a demo for silk for you in the Sample Library on Sounds online? The program has very good sounds, but the sample completely fails in Chinese music theory, and style. For example, in Oriental music 4 and 7 on the scale (F and B in C major) is rarely used. Many instruments even lack those strings. However, in the demo, the 4th and 7th are used extensively. Well, im just offering something.
thanks :) , its sounds really cool to have but i saw on your site that you had some sort of keyboard/synthesizer on the Winter namm 2009 is this needed to play silk? and if so , how can i get it?
maybe this are some bad questions but i maybe want to start with this next year
@lordeppiothe1 No, you don't need a keyboard controller. You can work in a sequencer (Cubase, Logic, Pro Tools) exclusively if you want. If you do want to play it "live" with a keyboard controller, any MIDI or USB controller will work. (To use a MIDI controller, you'd need a MIDI interface for your computer, but any semi-pro/pro sound interface will provide that.)
I ordered the Complete Composer's Edition Customize but so far I've only had the iLok key shipped to me. I'm still waiting for the DVD's to arrive. Do the DVD's customarily take longer to arrive or was the entire iLok+ DVD bundle supposed to come as one?
@quantumsquare : The iLok will sometimes ship from a different location than the CCC. And the custom bundles can sometimes take a little extra time to prepare for shipping. So odds are you'll get the software ASAP. If you don't, please feel free to contact support at our site.
Is there any way of purchasing a lot of the EastWest products in bulk for a cheaper kind of overall price so we don't find ourselves $10,000 in the hole because they keep releasing awesome stuff?
@LukeSock : The Complete Composers Collection at soundsonline is $995 base price for 7 instruments. You can even customize it (price may increase, depending on your selection).
Installed silk but i click to open the play engine it doesn't open can play the so called play. Can anyone out there help since the people themselves seem too far out of reach. But not out of reach for our money. help help help
How can you talk of getting torrents so casually? People work to make these products, and EastWest can charge as much as they want. If it's too expensive for you, don't buy it! Just don't torrent- even if you don't use it for commercial things, it's illegal and it's robbery.
Can EWQL be used not through an external midi controller, but applied to pre-written midi? If so, is there any difference in the control of the articulations, and any other feature for that matter?
I know am being unfair but I'm just a poor beginner, I don't live from music either,so I can't afford buying it. I am looking everywhere in Google but it's almost impossible to find a SILK torrent. I'd appreciate it a lot if you could do me this favor.
@BESI1980 I agree that the best VST are always expensive, but first, I think that in the majority of times (like with EWQL) it is very well worth it and, secondly, you can very well download the torrent and use it, but it's illegal to make money out of it. I always download it to try it out first, but I know I'll have to buy some stuff when recording my band's EP. =B
Oh man, SILK is amazing, and I don't need percussion loops. I need instruments, and SILK has maybe everything I need, BUT, when it comes to buy, hmmm, it's really expensive. I know for a professional producer that earns and lives from music business Silk IS worthy to buy, but is there any Torrent where I could get for free?
Hi this is Nick Phoenix and Quantum Leap suck. ..... just kidding, in the first moment i thought he said that :P. Lovely VST. I already own RA but this one sounds much better IMO. Like the Erhu in RA doesnt sound all good but the one in this seems to kick ass ;o
Hey people, I would like to know what is better! Is it Quantum Leap SILK or Ethno World 4?
I couldn't wait until I got Ethno World 4, but then I don't like it, because most of the sounds you can't play yourself, but it has built-in loops or phrases. What the hell do I need them?! I want to play notes MYSELF, I don't need them.
But this ''Quantum Leap SILK'' for me seems to be better, since you have full acces to single keys so you can play your own compositions.

@BESI1980 I have both Ethno World and Silk.. Silk is FANTASTIC. Ethno World, not so much. The only advantage to Etno World is that you get percussion loops. There are no percussion loops in Silk. There are no percussion instruments what so ever in Silk. You'd have to not only get Silk, but you'd also have to get Storm Drum 2 (Which is phenomenal). It's $800 plus shipping for both though. You could take advantage of the 2 for 1 deal they have right now. Buy Silk and get SD2 free.

Does anyone know if PLAY runs on an ancient cubase VST 32 5.1 from 2001? I'm still using it since i'm used to the of the tones (like the A-tone is always a red color on all octaves, C is pink etc)
Also eventually i'm looking for a new musicc software (like cubase) but one that has the possiblity to make each note a serperate color too (though same colors in all scales)..and preferibly 64 bit too. Any suggestions? I prefer one that is intuitive to work with (short learning curve)
@PowerRedBull I like Sonar myself. I've tried a lot of software before I settled on that one. I started off with Voyetra's Digital Orchestrator Pro which I LOVED! They stopped making it though. After that I tried Cubase, Reaper, Sonar, and Audacity. By far Sonar was the easiest to use.
Yeah, I think they just threw in the Persian Empire category to include various instruments from throughout the Arab world as well as parts of North Africa
