There have been no baritones since who could handle this role and do it the justice that Tibbett does - that includes London, who recorded the aria, or Milnes, or Terfel or Morris or anyone. This is, by today's standards, politically incorrect - but it's absolutely stunning. They don't make 'em like this any more!
