@ Travis Orbin: Am I crazy, or did you not play the song on the album? I listen to SEA all the time, and I thought you played the drums on all of their songs.. Maybe it's how your description is worded that is confusing me :)
Can anyone tell me how to get my toms to sound like that?
And how to get your kick drum to sound like that?
Oh and I might as well ask what kick pedals he's using. I bought a (Double kick) DW 7002PT pedal for $200
I'm very happy with it. But it's still like. Holy crap. I want to do whatever I can do to get my hands on a kick that has the ability to shoot that fast! That's fuckin' sick.
It kinda pisses me off how awesome your kicks are.
@CoMaTsuTra and Unluck9000 yeah dudes sir Travis Orbin uses the pearl demon drives now but in this one i think its the pearl eliminator that he used in this video
@PLAZ1990s i use axis pedals. may cost a bit but they can get your feet pretty freakin fast with enough practice. and you could do that with DW's just gotta practice. took me a year of practice but now i can play about 16th notes at 210 bpm now. takes awhile man
I am blown away with every vid I see of yours. The way you change right hand over left then left over right also doing the same with your feet using right foot for single bass go to dbls then using your left foot for single bass. IS there a practice tip or trick to learn how to do that as smoothly as you make it look?
I've always liked SEA, but watching you play their stuff makes me go back and listen to everything they've put out, and appreciate it so much more from a really musical standpoint. Especially with all the crap being put out these days.
dude you are one of THE TIGHTEST drummers i have ever seen i enjoy watching videos of covers i dont play drums my self im a bass guy but i would never have the balls to put videos up maybe someday after lots of hours of practice your gonna be a legend
hey travis, in your videos and more noticeably this one...i see you turn to your left, look down and touch something real quick.
are you changing the time of a click? making your mp3 player louder? haha something that deals with a computer?
just wondering. still great drumming. SEA's new ep has me blown away every time i listen to it because of you. you take songs, and turn them into some of the most rhythmically challenging, yet pleasing music to listen to.
Hey Travis, are you actually reading the sheet music you have in front of you? Because if you are, props to you man. There is no way I could keep up with that. anyway, just wondering. Keep up the amazing work,
i dont quite understand how you create parts that are so technical but friendly to the ear. i would love for you to explain to me your thought process haha but seriously thats rediculous i love taking the time to create crazy rythmic parts but yours are so far out there im 18 years old and i hope i can become close to the drummer you are one day. -shay
@chone713 I didn't even realize that you are the drummer from SEA when I clicked on this link but I am really glad I did. I knew that I recognized a different drummer with SEA on the sweet brag tour last year.

Your such an inspiration.

A few days ago i decided to set my kit up like yours(but with 2 crashes, a high hat and a stack) and god it made me think so much harder about what beats you play and the possibilities are just endless aye, the fills you can create are awesome aye,
well keep up the good work and keep inspiring more drummers:)
haha it may be a trigger...but it doesnt make you play faster? something has to hit the head to even make a sound haha! a trigger enhances every sound making every hit equal. not adding hits to it. goodness. travis is this fast and yes its possible if you know anything about drums
@prayingforyou09 a trigger does not make you faster. You just put on a trigger with a soundstation the trigger sounds are on, and you can change what kinds of sound you want on your drum..

@g0tch410hp well....a little cranky are we?.. Watch some of his other videos where you can see his feet and maybe you will get it....He also teaches drums...check out some of his students...check out his myspace page read about some of his credentials ...he has a pretty good resume...After watching his other videos one thing will be apparent ....he is that fast and you have made an ass out of yourself....as for being a fucktard ..I have been called worse....that wasn't very creative.....
@g0tch410hp That is what I like to hear..er read. That is the thing..we all want to get better...this guy(Travis Orbin) has a incredible work ethic when it comes to his playing and it shows. He has developed his own style of playing and has always played for the music. If you watch and research Travis you will find that seasoned pros have taken to watching this guy grow and develop..He has inspired me to play more diligently and creatively ..Keep an eye out for this guy...he is a beast.
haha he is reallly good, ive played guitar for 6 years now and i just started playing drums a year ago and thomas erak is my biggest influence for guitar and travis orbin is my new idol for drums
when hitting those "insanely fast" parts as you call it, a lot of great drummers switch from using their entire leg just to a select portion of muscles in the calves and ankles, which is obviously what hes doing.... you're a fucking retard.
That is how fast hes going. And i'm pretty sure he doesn't use triggers. i've seen him live twice. And hes done fast double bass bursts like that just setting up. So it definitely is that real speed..
I hope you read this and really understand, that you have inspired me on another level like the rest of my drum heroes. You really have inspired me to play tighter and practice harder than before. You're amazing and a perfect example of how far practice can take you. Thanks for the videos.
Of course I read your comment! :D I read 'em all, and I respond to what I can when I have the time. Thank you for your highly gracious words and for being so receptive to my work. All that I can say is... "stay tuned"!
I would love for you to record yourself playing each individual track but I'm sure you guys are busy writing for the new album. Good luck! You are the man!
Also I like this song a long, especially the sweeps and bass. But then, as usual, it's ruined because some screamo faggo "singer" decides to take a big shit all over a harmonically good song.
Seriously metal would be such a better genre if everyone didn't just fucking scream poorly with no skill at all.
@ Travis Orbin: Am I crazy, or did you not play the song on the album? I listen to SEA all the time, and I thought you played the drums on all of their songs.. Maybe it's how your description is worded that is confusing me :)

I don't get how you move both hands from one tom to the other so fast. I tried setting up my toms like that and I failed at playing that fast.

Nice drummer cover, perfect drummer. You're really good.
Also I like this song a long, especially the sweeps and bass. But then, as usual, it's ruined because some screamo faggo "singer" decides to take a big shit all over a harmonically good song.
Seriously metal would be such a better genre if everyone didn't just fucking scream poorly with no skill at all.
