  • @ Travis Orbin: Am I crazy, or did you not play the song on the album? I listen to SEA all the time, and I thought you played the drums on all of their songs.. Maybe it's how your description is worded that is confusing me :)

    ORBINATER FAN FOR LIFE!!

  • Do you only trigger your bass drum, or your snare and toms too?

  • @BenJohan6 Only the bass drum and only for certain sessions

  • Have you got The New Breed by Gary Chester? Your whole style looks completely symmetrical

  • Travis I just gotta say you are amazing and are a huge inspiration for me. Your work continues to amaze me. keep it up man!!!!

  • Somehow he is like Max Cavalera with 4 string guitar. I don't need all toms, so there is no need to be there with me :) Like it.

  • are you open handed?

  • What snare do you use TravOrb?

  • Travis barker? TRAVIS ORBIN PLEASE? :3

  • Travis, nice job mate! so inspiring. Was wondering what mics you are using on your drums? they sound great, particularly the snare and cymbals. James

  • @ISk8Emerica7 19" aaxtreme (sabian)

  • Travis.

Whenever I see someone overhype Travis Barker, I always wish they were saying "Travis Orbin". Keep doing what you do man!

    Justin

  • Can anyone tell me how to get my toms to sound like that?

And how to get your kick drum to sound like that?

Oh and I might as well ask what kick pedals he's using. I bought a (Double kick) DW 7002PT pedal for $200

I'm very happy with it. But it's still like. Holy crap. I want to do whatever I can do to get my hands on a kick that has the ability to shoot that fast! That's fuckin' sick.

It kinda pisses me off how awesome your kicks are.

  • this has to be the strangest drum setup i have ever seen lol but you are CRAZY good :) and your drums sound perfect

  • @InOurDemise very similar to alex rudinger's, another technical drummer.

  • @TaCoMaN300 lol orbin was rudingers drum teacher for a while.

  • @InOurDemise that's because he's the drummer of this band :D

  • @udaman100 He was drumming for Periphery when this video was filmed I believe, and SEA is pretty much broken up now.

  • @Drummerkid74 oh, nvm then haha

  • Comment removed

  • @CoMaTsuTra and Unluck9000 yeah dudes sir Travis Orbin uses the pearl demon drives now but in this one i think its the pearl eliminator that he used in this video

  • @101MPT

    Hmmmm, Interesting...

  • @PLAZ1990s i use axis pedals. may cost a bit but they can get your feet pretty freakin fast with enough practice. and you could do that with DW's just gotta practice. took me a year of practice but now i can play about 16th notes at 210 bpm now. takes awhile man

  • @dtportnoyrox50 Yeah. I can already go really fucking fast since the last time I commented. Hahahahahahaha. XP

  • axis pedals?

  • what kind of pedals are you using. ridiculous!!!

  • @shaftninja aw maannnnn, how come you dont give us the transcript for this one?

  • you are unreal

  • wow i can just feel the love between ace and travis xD

  • My mind just went "poof"

  • i see the music stand alot and i was curious where you learned to actually compose write and read music and songs

  • fucking great vid, you are one of my favorite drummers and are influencing my playing style on my album. thanks a lot!

  • can i just say you've just become one of my new drumming idols. taking this playing style to a whole new level.

also could you tell me what heads and tuning you use on the toms, cos they sound sweet?

  • oh my..

  • how did you play that fill?? haha, didnt the original drummer have to slow it down to half speed to track it? you showed him haha

  • I am blown away with every vid I see of yours. The way you change right hand over left then left over right also doing the same with your feet using right foot for single bass go to dbls then using your left foot for single bass. IS there a practice tip or trick to learn how to do that as smoothly as you make it look?

  • what pedals does he use ?

  • @tjbro443 Demon Drives, I'm pretty sure. Unless he's changed it. Also, I'm not sure if he had them in this video.

  • can't tell cause I can't see your feet =p

are you using swivel or heel-toe?

  • I've always liked SEA, but watching you play their stuff makes me go back and listen to everything they've put out, and appreciate it so much more from a really musical standpoint. Especially with all the crap being put out these days.

  • Are you using a pearl snare or a truth? Because my friends chirch uses a gold pearl snare that looks just like that

  • Are you using a pearl snare or a truth?

  • why do you have 2 highhats? dont get mad, i dont pay drums :P

  • Tshirt says it all... good looks.

  • 0:31 SO FUCKIN COOL

  • hell yeah

  • Elad- he uses pearl demon drive :)

  • i will like you play the sing composure - august burns red please

  • You are by far the most creative drummer I have ever seen.. Mad props man.

  • transcribing this is making my head explode lol

  • Hay Travis,

what pedals are you playing with ???

  • dude you are one of THE TIGHTEST drummers i have ever seen i enjoy watching videos of covers i dont play drums my self im a bass guy but i would never have the balls to put videos up maybe someday after lots of hours of practice your gonna be a legend

    -eric

  • REDICULOUSLY AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!

  • hey travis, in your videos and more noticeably this one...i see you turn to your left, look down and touch something real quick.

are you changing the time of a click? making your mp3 player louder? haha something that deals with a computer?

just wondering. still great drumming. SEA's new ep has me blown away every time i listen to it because of you. you take songs, and turn them into some of the most rhythmically challenging, yet pleasing music to listen to.

  • Hey Travis, are you actually reading the sheet music you have in front of you? Because if you are, props to you man. There is no way I could keep up with that. anyway, just wondering. Keep up the amazing work,

    Gabe

  • can you do a video tour of your kit please?

  • wut kind of drums do you use travis, they sound so good

  • i love the sound of ur bass drum! plus ur insane with that double pedal

  • i dont quite understand how you create parts that are so technical but friendly to the ear. i would love for you to explain to me your thought process haha but seriously thats rediculous i love taking the time to create crazy rythmic parts but yours are so far out there im 18 years old and i hope i can become close to the drummer you are one day. -shay

  • 0:34 >>> jizz.

  • very unique setup! \m/^^

  • machines is my favorite song on this cd

  • This video just blew my mind. Great work!

  • @chone713 I didn't even realize that you are the drummer from SEA when I clicked on this link but I am really glad I did. I knew that I recognized a different drummer with SEA on the sweet brag tour last year.

  • Weirdest set up I've ever seen. Idc, he's a monster.

  • That's one of the best snares Iv'e ever heard.

  • dude! totally brutal stuff, any advice for ya double kick technique? other than insane practice of course haha, take care bro!

  • Wow on the double-pedals

  • A-W-E-S-O-M-E.

  • Hey Travis, what drum module are you using and what setting do you have it set to. thanx and keep the brilliance comming!

  • may i ask how the world you do that double kick at :57

  • shaftninja = good time

  • Damn dude, a unique drum set up i must say.... props....

  • Hi Travis,

It looks and sounds like you're heavily inspired by Mike Mangini and Virgil Donati, am I right? Great playing by the way!

  • Dude your Sweet as fuck With a Weird as Fuck set up But its still sweet

  • Travis, your videos and work with periphery and SEA have brought me to look upon drumming in a whole new way. I'm only 16, but you've caused me to heavily reconsider my practice schedule and content. Are there any books or other exercises that you can recommend for ambidexterity and odd phrases (I'm currently working on Gary Chaffee). Thank you so much for your dedication to this instrument. Your such an inspiration.

    -James

  • dude you got some mad skill. keep killing it man. and nice set up too.

  • are these videos how u got into the band did they like search up covers and they found u and were like dude this guy is legend lol im a drummer too. im lovin SEA's new tune u r my inspire me to play drums more and practice hardcore lol

    KEEP ROCKING!

  • @davidcortese im reposting this caause i failed at spelling mistakes and typing lol are these videos how u got into sky eats airplane did they like search up covers and they found u and were like dude this guy is legend lol im a drummer too. im lovin SEA's new tunes u inspire me to play drums more and practice hardcore lol

  • True inspiration man.

Essentially, the level at which you play forces me to strive further.

    Many thanks.

    Scott.

  • Very impressed with your drumming. I've sent links of a few of your vids to some friends. Keep up the good work.

    -DSG2007

  • Travis,

A few days ago i decided to set my kit up like yours(but with 2 crashes, a high hat and a stack) and god it made me think so much harder about what beats you play and the possibilities are just endless aye, the fills you can create are awesome aye,

well keep up the good work and keep inspiring more drummers:)

    .mac.

  • are you using two TLM 103s as your overheads?! if so. HOW DID U GET THE MONEY haha

  • Man i fuckin puked in my lap no shit....

  • dude there are mics

  • yeah cause theres definitely triggers being used, you know, theres no mics in the video or anything...lmao wow

  • @greensmurf12

Yes there is lol, look at the snare, cymbals toms, and i'm looking at two bass drums pedals.

  • haha it may be a trigger...but it doesnt make you play faster? something has to hit the head to even make a sound haha! a trigger enhances every sound making every hit equal. not adding hits to it. goodness. travis is this fast and yes its possible if you know anything about drums

  • @prayingforyou09 a trigger does not make you faster. You just put on a trigger with a soundstation the trigger sounds are on, and you can change what kinds of sound you want on your drum..

Most triggers come with sound sensitivity of what the fuck they're called, but the sound varies as your hit..

Actually you just change the sound of your drum.

  • awesome

  • I love the tone of his snare ^.^

Deff using a roland kick trigger to (:

    Good stuff mang.. Great drummer

  • impressing

  • I Cant Get Over How Good You Are, How Many Beats Per Min Do You Think You Can Reach On That Epic Double Bass Of Yours ?

  • its a trigger dude. thats not actually how fast hes going..

  • @g0tch410hp I think you have that tinfoil hat of yours a little to tight......triggers have nothing to do with the speed of his double bass playing or the amount of notes he playing.....man a lot of people really have no idea what triggers are and why people use them.....somebody said the same thing about Thomas Haake and that he couldn't be playing all those notes on his bass drum......well yes people.....there are drummers that play that fast with out needing extra studio or electronic help.

  • look at his feet when he goes insanely fast and you wil find out you made an ass out of yourself. i know some ppl can go that fast, and im not wearinh a tinfoil hat fucktard

  • @g0tch410hp well....a little cranky are we?.. Watch some of his other videos where you can see his feet and maybe you will get it....He also teaches drums...check out some of his students...check out his myspace page read about some of his credentials ...he has a pretty good resume...After watching his other videos one thing will be apparent ....he is that fast and you have made an ass out of yourself....as for being a fucktard ..I have been called worse....that wasn't very creative.....

  • aha i admire you now xD yea ill check his teaching vids, i gotta get better at drums, im not terrible but id like to get pretty good

  • @g0tch410hp That is what I like to hear..er read. That is the thing..we all want to get better...this guy(Travis Orbin) has a incredible work ethic when it comes to his playing and it shows. He has developed his own style of playing and has always played for the music. If you watch and research Travis you will find that seasoned pros have taken to watching this guy grow and develop..He has inspired me to play more diligently and creatively ..Keep an eye out for this guy...he is a beast.

  • haha he is reallly good, ive played guitar for 6 years now and i just started playing drums a year ago and thomas erak is my biggest influence for guitar and travis orbin is my new idol for drums

  • @g0tch410hp

when hitting those "insanely fast" parts as you call it, a lot of great drummers switch from using their entire leg just to a select portion of muscles in the calves and ankles, which is obviously what hes doing.... you're a fucking retard.

  • why thank you(:

  • @g0tch410hp Well then you dont know what a trigger is.

  • That is how fast hes going. And i'm pretty sure he doesn't use triggers. i've seen him live twice. And hes done fast double bass bursts like that just setting up. So it definitely is that real speed..

  • @sassafrasmeat i agree. 100% possible with heel toe technique.

  • @sassafrasmeat you can see the trigger on the bass drum ring lol

  • you should have a foot cam

  • insane set up! so beast!

  • the panoration of your toms make me confused when you play your fills. great playing btw:D

  • wow, this title should just say "Travis Orbin: The Man The Myth and the Legend." thats the best drumming i think ive ever seen.

  • I highly concur with aces comment

  • dude. you got me into sky eats airplane, you've got some tight skills, keep popping out songs

  • i like the part where it goes mm che mm che, thats pretty epic man!!

i dont know how you do it!

  • Dear Travis,

I hope you read this and really understand, that you have inspired me on another level like the rest of my drum heroes. You really have inspired me to play tighter and practice harder than before. You're amazing and a perfect example of how far practice can take you. Thanks for the videos.

    -Ace

  • Greetings Ace,

Of course I read your comment! :D I read 'em all, and I respond to what I can when I have the time. Thank you for your highly gracious words and for being so receptive to my work. All that I can say is... "stay tuned"!

  • @real1acer I completely agree dude.

  • i never thought about setting a set of toms like he does but it makes it so much easier to play

  • when I heard SEA had a new drummer I was pissed but you fuckin' rule man

  • I don't care what people say about SEA, they are a great band.

  • @apocaloid I agree with you man. There Awesome!!

  • I would love for you to record yourself playing each individual track but I'm sure you guys are busy writing for the new album. Good luck! You are the man!

  • dude hes the new drummer for SEA haaa

  • he's always been the drummer i think...

  • lol naww

  • Wow! Just simply wow! Fast. Right. Rythmitic. And just simply amazing! Keep doing these videos. They are very entertaining!

    -Michelle

  • dude thats just fckin amazing!! sea have some very awkward time signatures, you played this amazingly well

  • Notice how he switches hands to do his measures with the cymbals?

    Ridiculously amazing!

  • yo wat sticks r u using

  • lol yawned at :52

  • wow i can't even comprehend what you just did

  • Holy crap. That was stupidly awesome.

  • Hey man, I saw your first show with SEA at South By So What?! last year. I was blown away, and I even crowed surfed to you guys. You're awesome man.

  • is your snare really tight?

  • I don't get how you move both hands from one tom to the other so fast. I tried setting up my toms like that and I failed at playing that fast.

  • yes that was a yawn haha

  • definitely just counting

  • Dude, he makes it look SO easy. look at him, did he yawn at :54?

  • ...holy shit O.O niice

  • Dude I fucking hate you. I was going to play drums today after wards but I don't even fucking feel like it anymore.

I subscribed and faved a few vids of yours after discovering you today.

  • Raging jealousy

  • @drummerdude6670 I Am Jack's Agreement With This Guy

  • Fight Club.

  • I think his videos of him playing to their songs got him into the band

  • this guy fucks bitches left n right

  • I think you own Cobus :D freaking awsomeeee!!!

  • wow bro a tear round down my face when i heard the double bass sounds so complex shesh man good foot work

  • holy fuck

  • yeah pretty much a good drummer right here! good work fella... strange setup you got going, its definatly new! good work man!

  • Nice drummer cover, perfect drummer. You're really good.

Also I like this song a long, especially the sweeps and bass. But then, as usual, it's ruined because some screamo faggo "singer" decides to take a big shit all over a harmonically good song.

Seriously metal would be such a better genre if everyone didn't just fucking scream poorly with no skill at all.

  • u do realize he IS the drummer for this band.
