God only gives alzheimer's to people that deserve it.
They are liars, deceivers, racists, rapists, and murders. They deserve much more than this for what they've done, but they won't find that out because they'll forget.
You and your God thing. Why does your Gawd always have to hate. Your Gawd has turned you in a miserable person. Will you just stop, youll find youll be much happier if you do.
You are a fool. It is religious bastards like you that has slowed the progress of science. You make me sick. My grandfather did not deserve this disease but you do. When you die from this disease, I hope you rot in hell.
If you have or know someone with Alzheimer's disease please come join us on ADcaregiver . com. It's a forum for caregivers of loved ones with Alzheimer's, and a great resource to get answers to many daily difficulties. Come join our family :-)
what about snowden's study of the nuns? didn't he say after that a significant number of nuns had the disease (after autopsies) but did not display any manifestations of it while they were alive? those nuns were very active, physically and mentally.
Loved the talk, not the commentary. Some of you here seem to believe that you can explain away Alzheimer's with practical steps towards mental health. BS! No matter what you do, if your genetically marked for the disease, you will get it! The most you can hope for in this case is a later onset. We need to focus on a cure or treatment, not just blindly hopeful preventative measures or explanations of cause.
only 5% of Alzheimer's disease is familial. all other cases are sporadic. of course there are genetic determinants on whether or not an individual will have alzheimer's late in life. you can improve your chances of maintaining a healthy nervous system by eating healthy and exercising (physical as well as cognitive faculties). For example, It is well documented how the incidence of AD is lower in people who continue with advanced studies.
why always put it on the genes? Our genes have changed significantly over the last few hundreds years. If your assumption is true, which is genes will run through family, then how can you explain human has changed through time?
An incredibly interesting talk, but I wish the focus was on health care rather than disease investigation. I want the healthiest brain possible. Tell me how :)
He also mentions that people with who develop more neurons through learning have better armor against dementia -- education can't last forever, so what is a way to live in which you develop the highest number of neurons without receiving other adverse affects?
Quite true. You have to wonder about the levels of Organics. Is organic beef fed organic grass, which in turn is fed organic fertilizer harvested from organically fed animals?

fat intake? I thought certain lipids are good for the brain. Not just good, but mandatory for a healthy brain function.

Well, there are more people that finish grade school than there are that go to college so that study doesn't seem that reliable...
That was a good explanation though. Very useful and interesting.

i think we have to educate ourselves about our environment and what we put into our bodies (i have to say i am not perfect myself but i try may best)
i think we should encourage small farmers to grow organic they tend to be more honest and careing
it is these big business that only care about profits and remove the compassion and love out of the art of farming
business means business it is without love and compassion
food grown with love and compassion is healthy
