I could have just as easily made them bananas too and completely thrown off my direction-- although, I think you are missing where I was coming from. I see what you mean about eve the apple being cliche, but its a little more about symbolism. People don't really read into a painting as much as artists would like and I wanted to use something people could easily understand.
In this case, the apple being reasoning. Apples=knowledge of good and evil.
