Your best off buying Australian gold sovereigns as they are considered rare and you can buy some dates at a little over bullion price, if you collect PCGS graded sovereigns you cant go wrong as you can buy in the top 10% grade and have mint state coins.
@olebrent I am still impress and gold is good in any form and takes alot of sacrafice to purchase
I collect half sovereigns and it has cost me about $8,000 for 6 rare ones so far and the last one I need cost over $14,000
sometimes I wonder if I should have just purchased gold but I heard silver is at its lowest in 80 yrs and has only a limited supply, its about 60 times cheaper than it was long ago so makes good value to buy.
@beginization not trying to be a downer on the silver hoarders but, its not a good time to buy. Of course its always speculation but its at a peak point right now. even if it does go up it won't be much. silver is at almost 10x what it was a few years ago. The idea that it will go up for ever its true. I would invest more wisely and stick to coins with a collectible nature rather than a value tied directly to metal content.
@gtq838 I know what you mean but when you examine the price of silver compar to gold their s much more room for profit as it increases, I just buy old florins as they are a good way to buy silver cheap.
But I dont have much left over to buy silver since collecting gold sovereigns.
The pcgs coins cost double as grades are most important, a mark can destroy the value of a coin to bullion.
I dont keep my coins in a safe as the safe can be stolen, but keep them secure when they wont be found
wow, u r dumb my friend, at the most it could cost would probably be around $250 that is if it is a quarter ounce of gold, i guess where u come from $250 is alot to come up with huh?
Kind sir, I can assure you that no country in the world exchanges gold coins these days, commonplace. 1 ounce of pure gold is worth around $800 US dollars. What would you buy a loaf of bread with? A speck of gold dust>??
That is NOT a coin. It is a bullion ROUND. By definition, a coin must have been produced by a government AND be monetized ($1, $5, $10...etc). What you have is a scarce Engelhard 1/4 oz gold prospector round. With gold currently at around $850, that piece has about $212 worth of gold in it. However, due to its very high collectability, the real value would be closer to $275. Hope this helps.
nexy....I think it says on the back.....Engelhard Industries Division. Cool piece huh? 999.9 fine pure. I guess that's as pure as they come I'm thinking lol.
Its not rare it's bullion

Its Gold bullion and not considered a coin let alone a rare gold coin, sorry
buy PCGS graded coins as they are verified by experts.
