Mac's don't crash HA. My macbook pro has crashed like 30 times (both disk read errors and kernal panic) since I got it 6 months ago. My XPS has never crashed in two years with Vista.
Apple REQUIRES you to use the system copy of the OS on there system, BUT the OEM copy is set for the hardware that came on the machine, thus he had to use another copy, then used the OEM copy.
I'm just saying that if Alhambrattp has a hard drive problem, it isn't Apple's fault or Microsoft's fault. It just happens to be a bad drive in THAT computer.
chris should have a follow up video to his how to install hard drive video and call it this how you have problems with a mac. 01:42 lol dave didnt seemed convinced about how the problem started an how it got fixed. its pointless for chris to ask help when it comes to hardware coz he gets told something he will argue his opinion across or wont let the helper help at all by talking non stop. anyways chris is a good guy an hes entertaining :)
miserable. all his life is computers as far as i can tell.

This has nothing to do with either OS. It has to do with the hard drive.
When things are made in China, nothing is good quality. HDDs can break. So can SDDs

So the solution to the problem was....?
1: Booting with the disk that came with the Mac Pro
2: Booting with OS X version 10.5.1
3: Format the disk before install
4: A combination of all three

I told him to format the disk as a single GUID partition several times, about 45 minutes before he actually did. :-/
