No you do not need a "Medical" to fly a PPC but to fly a two seater you need a Sport Pilot License. To fly a single seat Powered Parachute that is deemed FAR 103 compilable you do not need either one.
@ParaglidingManiac I seriously looked at paragliding and powered parachutes and I chose powered parachutes because I believe they're safer. The key is wing loading: paragliders, in order to be able to take off and land at running speed, have a lot of wing relative to the pilot's weight. This makes it easier for a gust to throw the pilot out of control. Powered parachutes have a smaller wing relative to weight so they're more stable. They also have a built-in roll cage. Just my judgement...
Hi, both types have their advantages and drawbacks. A PPG can tke off and land by foot on any type of rough surface, as longas you can run on it. Most PPC need a well groomed surface to take off. The argument of wing loading though mentionned by california adventurer is quite right. PPG have higher wingload and less prone to frontal collapse. but if there is one , it's tougher to recuperate it and needs more altitude to correct. I am a paramotor pilot so my humble opinion

Do u need a medical to obtain a powered parachute pilot license? How many hours of flight time do you need for this?

I don't know why, ut these powered parachutes doesnt look safe. Am I wrong? Because Powered paragliding looks much better

Both sports are as safe as you make them. Almost all accidents accure because of Pilot error. Pre-Flight checks are a must!
But, hey, if your engine quits, you have a parachute.

Yeah, at least no problems deploying your parachute :D

Yea, it is! Way more than we need. Mr. Thonton used to fly Cessnas out of it.

What a runway, think you could get a 747 in there since it is so long.
