  • Obama sanctions Iran, Reagan gives them weapons, after they held our citizens hostage. Some of these weapons no doubt went into the hands of anti Israeli groups who used them to commit acts of terror.

  • Thanks Ronnie! I love paying insurance preminums that will never come back to me and bank interest to random strangers who don't care about me! We should all love Ronnie and should at shop at Walmart! If you don't love Reagan then you should get out of the country! If this country was founded on one thing, it's love of conservative values that originated in the 1980s!

  • if reagan were to be brought back from the dead, his alzheimer's cured, and the 22nd amendment were repealed, and he was a republican candidate, not only would the great communicator win all the republican debates, he'd steamroll obama in the debates. no racism intended. im not racist. steamroll is used as in "completely own" and "win" not a hate crime. its sad that i have to put that last part up, but people will call me a racist if i dont. and they probs will even though i stated im not racist

  • Reagan was more corrupt then Obama. Is just the rightwings don't amit it.

  • @royaladam hahahaha your hero is the king of corruption

  • Wait, wait, wait, wait!

"The present administration seems to believe that the American people would rather see more regulation, more taxis and more controls, then more energy."

    Next sentence:

"Coal offers great potential, as does nuclear, under RIGOROUS SAFETY STANDARDS."

In other words, regulations and controls.

Having a popular president make a speech while clipping in pieces of an unpopular one looking nervous... This educates no one.

I could do the same thing with Roosevelt and Bush.

  • reagan was gov of california in 67, reagan was another rich mans tool, he cutted taxes for the rich what kind of person does that... lol in 10 years rich got richer while the poor poorer while increasing debt and devaluiying dollar, if americans felt any improvement was because of slave labour end of ussr and science not american presidents they have been destroying world and usa since nixon

  • @ukusapillage

Wow! If your use of basic grammar and spelling sheds any light on the intelligence level of the run-of-the-mill anarchist or liberal, it's no wonder our country is knee deep in dog crap at the moment. Thank you for your opinion, I myself do not agree with you. However, if you cannot AT LEAST use correct grammar to make yourself seem unignorant, it's best that you leave. Now, please.

  • "A high-powered cheerleader for our worst instincts, a nasty man whose major talent is to make us feel good about being creepy and who lets us pretend that tomorrow will never come."

    --Activist Roger Wilkins

  • Reagan was a piece of shit.

  • @egmart2

sir, there is no reason for that kind of language.

  • this video is absolutely fantastic. I hope everybody here shares this with everybody they know. if all Americans would watch this on the eve of next year's elections, Obama would be toast, and our nation would be saved

  • WOW did he say this in the 80's or today? It's deja vu. Socialism didn't work then, doesn't work now, and never will work.

  • They blasted and ridiculed him for his "Reaganomics." But HIS policies were policies of a strong America. Building UP the military and creating jobs while doing it, boosting national production.. Reagan knew that in order for America to thrive, Americans had to Thrive.

  • Too late to clone him, he was a democrat for a long time....

  • we have one ready for the job

    Ron Paul

  • We need another leader like reagan to step up. Our country is falling to shambles again.

  • From 2000 to 2005. Even with 9/11 and Iraq war, Republican legislation increased the debt from 5.6 to 7.9 trilliion. From 2005 to 2010 under Democratic legislation we have increased the debt from 7.9 to 13.5 trillion. Since Obama 08-11 (complete control) we have gone from 9.9 to 14.8 trillion.

  • Before Reagan the house and Senate were controlled by the Democrats. While Reagan was in office from 81-87 the Senate was Republicans and the House Democrats. In his last year the Democrats took control of both until 1995. 95 to 2005 Republicans had control. from 96 to 2000 is the only time we have seen a balanced budget. From 2005 to 2010 Democrats had complete control. In other words we have seen the largest growth in debt when Democrats have had complete control.

  • The house and the Senate pass the bills. The president can only advise on spending and tax cuts. The president does have influence (VETO POWER) but domestic spending and taxes are really about the legislative branch of government. Currently the Republicans rule the house and the Democrats rule the senate. The senate is a 6 year vote so its the hardest to change, who ever controls the senate has the strongest control in spending and taxes. So if you want answers look at the legislative history.

  • Reagan TRIPLED our national debt.

  • @earthpet And just won the cold war in the process. He tripled it because of weapon spending. We were all with him.

  • @earthpet Reagan tripled no debt. Your beloved Democratic Congress tripled the debt. THEY DID IT. Not Reagan. I am sick, fed up, and ready to fight you liars. Absolutely have had it with your demented lying. Truth is fiction to you and your ilk. Well, buddy, we are finally ready to fight you any way necessary in order to win. Best you be warned.

  • @zae3434 2012-here comes the GOP! we will make sure that no leader like Obama ever takes office again! Reagan would never have pulled the apologize to the world stuff obama does, hell, he'd have gotten those hiker "spies"(yeah those hikers r spies my ass) back from Iran!!!!

  • @schreiber12345 months ago (referring to the hikers)

  • @zae3434 Um... Regan's congress started republican, and actually approved a budget that was slightly lower than the one he requested. If I know anything about him, he was actually pretty good at getting congress to do what he wanted.

Even ignoring that, you have to pick: Either

Regan was successful in implementing his policies. In which case he take the blame for the debt.

    Or

He wasn't. In which case, a democratic congress restored the military, and did everything else Regan gets credit for.

  • @zae3434 I like you. No homo.

  • @zae3434 Debt is numbers on a computer screen.

We live on an earth that had no money originally. Humans put it here at some point and they can take it away, too.

  • these days are over. hope you like your obama guys, you voted for him!

  • It's because of Reagan we have inner city ghettos because he let manufacturing move out of America.

  • @tazeryoot67 Are you for real? You come on to a blog and try and tell well informed People that Reagan caused ghettos? Was Reagan the Mayor of NYC during the 60's? LA During the late 60's early 70's? No, they were all Democrats. And those riots occurred because Democrats don't know WTF they are doing....

  • It sounds like this speech was given in South Africa with all the vuvuzelas blaring in the background

  • Carter brought us Reagan and Obama will bring us Bachmann!

  • "Economist Mike Kimel notes that the last five Democratic Presidents (Clinton, Carter, LBJ, JFK, and Truman) all reduced public debt as a share of GDP, while the last four Republican Presidents (GW Bush, GHW Bush, Reagan, and Ford) all oversaw an increase in the country’s indebtedness

  • ron paul 2012!!! :D

  • oboma gave 4 million jobs from his system regans system gave 72 million jobs from 1980 to 1989

  • @2pacisdabomb Well to be more correct, there are 2.4 million less jobs now then when Obama took office. Therefore, regardless of the political rhetoric, there were no NET jobs created by Obama.

  • Cain for president 2012!! Son of a chauffeur and a maid, now CEO of Godfather's Pizza! Pro-life, contitutionalist!

  • There's only one candidate with anything similar to Reagan, RON PAUL 2012!!

  • President Ronald Reagan was the greatest President of the United States of America! Now we have an impostor as a president, that for some unknown reasons still in power of the complete destruction of our Country. Is there anyone out there with some sense of proud? Patriotism? How can this "historical" fraud continue without punishment? What are we waiting for?

This is our Country, the United States of America, and we are nobody's trophy!

  • "IMPEACH OBAMA" My prayers are either for that or him losing reelection, but I can't decide which method I want him removed from office. In the end I don't care how it happens just as long as that liberal motherfucker leaves the whitehouse in disgrace, Or in a coffin WITHOUT an american flag draped over it. (I won't try anything, seriously)

  • Obama is also a trained actor.

  • The tax rates have been increased to compensate the lost money spent in the Iraq war that stiil has been reaching effect since then. At last, it is not easy to take over a broken economy misthought by the former president Bush. Who had shot in the dark.

  • Reagan Win

  • Awesome love it ! out with the lame LIBS. IN WITH REPUBLIICANS GOP for 2012. By by Barry Juice.

  • I want Reagan back !!!

  • Reagan had the will to lead and the ability to articulate. Nothing to gain from the Presidency. Wow, Do we ever need another Him !!

  • considering most of Obama's speeches contain "uh, ummmm, huuummm and I uh" it's kinda obvious who was going to win

  • If you dont like reagan there is a simple solution. Dont listen to his speeches. Dont waste your time posting on videos about regean against regean. I dont understand what the purpose is. I dont like obama but im not thumbing through comments on obama speeches looking to attack him. We need to remain positive. This negative approach is destructive. If you have beliefs that differ from regeans go find someone such as obama and make some constructive comments there. At the very least remain civil

  • hahahahahahahahahahahahaha Reagan talking about economy

  • Reagan has said he is against Regulation but, then he says that under strict regulation Nuclear power is a safe energy!!!! He has caused the media to be controled by one rich source~The rich Republican brainwashing FOX Channel!!!!!!!

    FOX IS A PROPAGANDA NETWORK!!!!!!!!

    REAGAN IS HITLER~/~THE ANTI-CHRIST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    NAZIS LOVE HIM

IF this continues all poor people will be slaves>It will not matter what race you are but, how much $ you have!!!

  • @renaissanceknight What you are saying is offensive and totally uncalled for. Everyone has the right to thier own beliefs. If you are going to make an arguement against reagan or fox news you dont have to beligerently attack people it hurts your own arguement

  • @eragon987644 Have you done the reasearch and I am not talking about listening to one station, person or source!!! I am a very Devout Catholic Autistic man that always listens to all sides of every issue and then researches the issue and then thinks for himself! Fox is a Republican Propaganda Network that owns most of the cable stations! Do ThE reasearch! Google "WHO OWNS FOX NEWS"

You will then be able to see that NATIONAL PRESS CORP. owns FOX and that they also own over 200 media subidiaries!

  • @renaissanceknight ....you sir.....or mame....are the shiznit!....(smart people dont listen to one news source...especially one that they agree with all the time...and assume they're always getting the truth)...people only hear/see what they WANT TO.....thumbs up to you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @renaissanceknight Yeah, you really did your research. Haha Fox is owned by News Corp. who is owned by Rupert Murdoch. Who owns Nbc and msnbc?? Oh yeah, it's G.E. who's CEO Immelt is Obama's buddy, and who Obama appointed to his "Jobs council" and who it was just revealed G.E. paid NO TAXES to the U.S. last year!!! Where's the outrage from the left on that?? Maybe you should take your own advice and do some real research? The media was in the tank for Obama that's why he got elected!

  • @renaissanceknight What a moron you are. 1st, the media is ALL progressive leftists except for Fox. So the one conservative network controls all the other channels, papers and magazines? LOL 2nd, Fox has people from the left and right on to debate. Propaganda?? No. 3rd, Reagan is hitler and nazi's love him?? Your imbecilic ignorance here is staggering. Do you even know what Nazi stands for? "NATIONAL SOCIALISTS". What party believes in socialism? Oh yeah, the democrats!! Idiot!

  • fuck you osam bin laden sand nigger

  • Take notes Obama, take notes.

  • well Mr Carter must be happy as Obama has passed him as the worst president of all time - now jimmy you can die happy -

  • Reagan was the beginning of the debt and division we are so much enjoying today.

  • @gkarthenarn Actually no that is Carter.. Reagan curbed the rate of increase in government spending compared to the rate of increased spending during the carter years. For longer than i can remember government has been spending past its means.

  • @gkarthenarn Stagflation, financial speculation and the era of massive government/private indebtedness in peacetime began in the 1970s. So he was not the beginning.

  • "Obama isn't another Ronald Reagan. He's Jimmy Carter Lite, a deer in the headlights of history, overwhelmed by international crises he doesn't understand and that don't make any sense in the politically correct world-view he brought to the Oval Office. This is a president who can't even stand up to Pakistan, let alone lead the free world through the present Valley of the Shadow." --Ralph Peters

  • @orkneymist

If you were smart enough to read my earlier comments, you would realize that I said that Soviet Russia failed, meaning that they are no longer around. I was making a point that they EMBRACED Socialism, which is past-tense. And it is true that they were a Socialistic state. Any more questions?

  • @luckey313 I am a devoute Catholic and I always ask myself "What would Jesus do?" He would never be a Regan Supporter! The Bible tells that we should all love our NEIGHBOR, HELP THE POOR & OUR FELLOW HUMAN BEINGS, THOUGH SHALL NOT KILL, Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image or that is in the earth beneath~(SUCH AS OIL)~You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything~such as the FOX CHANNEL,Do not make idols of any kind~WHICH FOX $ REPUBLICANS DO EVERY DAY! SHALL i GO ON

  • @renaissanceknight Obama the liberal progressive is fighting a REAL illegal war in Libya for OIL for his idols, the European socialists! Your view on Reagan is so wrong it's laughable. Reagan promoted freedom and the opportunity for ALL people of ALL classes to succeed and prosper. The dems are all about controlling people and keeping people like the blacks in this country perpetually enslaved in the lower class and telling them it's the rich's fault so they can keep getting their votes!

  • Do not make idols of any kind~WHICH FOX $ REPUBLICANS DO EVERY DAY,Do not misuse the name of the Lord your God~BUT FOX $ REPUBLICANS ENVOKE THE LORD'S NAME IN EVERY WAR~WE ARE NOW IN 2 WARS THAT ARE LIES~WE HAVE MADE THE MIDDLE EAST HATE US EVEN MORE! Thou shalt not kill~BUSH HAS DONE JUST THAT! HE IS A WAR CRIMINAL!Thou shalt not steal. REGAN/BUSH REPUBLICANS STEAL FROM THE POOR $ GIVE TO THE RICH.Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour. FOX DOES THAT EVERYDAY!!!!!!!

  • @renaissanceknight <<<<< Idiot!

  • @orkneymist - Poverty needs to be dealt with at the state level, with assistance from the federal level. Same for education. Our education is failing because we have decided to marginalize everyone, and now if you give 50% you get the same praise as for giving 110%, so we give 50% and wonder why we aren't the smartest. Healthcare would be affordable if we stop the illegal immigration problem. Now that is a federal issue in serious need of fixing...OBAMA....or just sue Arizona instead..yeah!

  • @orkneymist - They already get more than they should from the government. I AM ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE. I purposely don't use every service available to me. Instead I cut back on things I don't NEED. The only assistance I use is CHIPS so my daughter can be taken care of. I could have food stamps, I could have a lot of other free handouts, but I choice not to.

  • Although I'm a Democrat supporter,Reagan sure knew what he was talking about and a scarry real prophecy of what America and the World would become.

Now I understand why America is collapsing like the Roman Empire did.

  • Those who do not learn the lessons of history are doomed to repeat it.

  • 28 people hate freedom and I hate Justin Bieber.

  • LOL! Good editing job!

  • Regan was the best president in the past 50 years. Today is his 100th birthday lol

  • Obama is THE GREAT PRETENDER..Don`t be fooled..The only CENTER Obama knows is on the basketball court

  • Obama is THE GREAT PRETENDER..Don`t be fooled..The only CENTER Obama knows is on the basketball court

  • @poindexterwitkowsky So you favor limits on Free Speech - ? How very liberal of you.

  • If the fed spends my money, other countries and bogus causes will benefit. If I spend my money, the local gas station, the sandwich shop, the bike shop, local theatres, etc. can prosper. When enough of us are spending our money, those services will hire more employees, or expand. In any case, I live a better life and the local recipients of my spending live better lives. Now, take that crazy idea and spread it into all communities across the country. Say no to socialism.

  • 26 Obama-bots dont want to see the stark differences between Reagan and their ass-clown hero.

  • Obama is a socialist. He told Joe the Plumber in 2008, that he wanted to spread the wealth around. watch?v=PUvwKVvp3-o He stated that the tragedies of the civil rights movement was that the Supreme Court didn’t bring about redistributive change. watch?v=Sj4yIE9Dd90

    .

He took over the automobile, mortgage, banking, and health care industries via legislation and regulation. Govt is expected to own 70% up from 19% in 2008.

  • @ poindexterwitkowsky you are sadly mistaken. The money that caused the surge was created by the Fed, not by tax cuts. Interest rates were dropped to way below what the free market would have set and this led to an artificial housing boom. Add to that the craziness created by Fannie Mae and you end up with a housing bust which is leading this recession. Your ideology created this depression and you know it.

  • @11111110

Check your facts. Last time I checked, Soviet Russia embraced Socialism, and Communism was the dominating party. In regards to the debt, you must specify. I would agree that 100% of the American population is in debt, unless you don't count the national debt. That trillion dollars spent by Obama did not help lower each American's personal debt, so, again, it is the government's fault.

  • What a friggin senile idiot!!

  • @startover171 I agree with you, Obama sure is

  • How pretentious of you to call this a "must see" video. You are in no position to tell anyone what they must see, unless you are putting on airs. Just describe the video, if you can, in the video description, and we'll decide whether to see it.

Obama is trying to bask in Reagan's light now. Obama is no Reagan. He's an upstart community organizer with Marxist friends and influences. He's wanted for treason for passing un-American legislation via bribes, in fact.

  • @11111110

I would agree that there are some cases of overspending, but what of it? I did say that I use my money to support my family, but I have extra left after the bills and weekly expenses. What am I to do with it? Give it to the government to spend haphazardly? I use it If we only bought the minimum need and not want, we would be heading toward Socialism, "everything is everyone's." If you want an example of failure, look at Soviet Russia and Cuba.

  • @luckey313

Actually, it is communism that implies that everything belongs to everyone. Socialism is a somewhat vague term depending on who you ask, but most would say that its a watered-down version of communism.

But that's neither here nor there. What I find to be ridiculous is the appeal to populism. The wisdom of the crowds is not always....wise. And if every American knew how to best spend their money, then there wouldn't be such a vast number of people in debt.

  • Considering that tax rates under Obama are equal or lower than what they were under Reagan, I don't think there would have been much friction between them on the subject of the redistribution of wealth.

  • @11111110 Are you stupid? Oh wait. I'll answer that for you: YES.

  • @williejenkins666

Hello to you as well, good sir!

  • @chakrachaser I really wish Democrats knew history. Bernie Madoff spent money that wasn't his, much like the government takes our money and wastily spends it. In fact, Bernie Madoff even made donations to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, and is therefore not a Republican. And it's not "my" money, it's the money that supports MY family, it's my FAMILY'S money. But I guess you wouldn't understand that, you'd feed the Democratic Party first.

  • @luckey313 Most jews are democrats.

I don't know why the Republicans continue to support Israel when the Jews continue to vote democrat. I don't know why the Republicans continue to support Wall Street when most those greedy assholes are also democrats.

Republicans are principled to a strong disadvantage over their socialist-leaning counterparts.

  • @williejenkins666

And that is an anomaly for shure considering their experience at the hands of some of the most brutal leftist the world has ever seen.

  • During the 2012 election debates, I'd love to see this played right at the beginning.

  • @temogen2 If that's so, then Obama expanded it, and he brought America down. Facts hurt, don't they?

  • How did anyone ever even fall into Obamas crap, the four people who shaped his life have an FBI file an inch thick, his father deticated his life to bringing down the West, notice his book is called dreams FROM my father, not dreams OF my father,my grandfather told me we would be destroyed from within, its happening right in front of our face. WAKE UP AMERICA!!!!

  • @dawghow Obama is following the path of Jesus, "the meek will inherit the earth, I was thirsty but you did not give me water, What you did not do for the least of thee, you did not do for me, be cursed to hell, Love your enemy as you love yourself, do unto others as you would have them do unto you" Jesus was a true socialist!!! "its easier to pass a camel through the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven"

Money has become your god, you turn your back on mankind!

  • @chakrachaser

Jesus wasn't a socialist, he broke bread with tax collectors.

  • This is perfect!!!

  • The economic crisis began with Reagan, he created it

  • Barry, you are not even worthy of shining this man's shoes, you little light-weight Marxist wannabe. History will show Obama to be the inept, incompetent, narcissistic charlatan that he is--not to mention the worst mistake the ill-informed, media-brainwashed American people ever made.

  • Obama beat Reagans ass is looked like. And I didn't even watch the video.

  • @poindexterwitkowsky Does rational thought survive in your head? More taxes means less money for the people. I don't know about you, but I believe that Americans know how to spend their money better than an over sized government. If you want to pay more taxes, be our guest and pay all the taxes you want, but we know how to spend our money.

  • @luckey313 FUCK YEAH!

  • @luckey313 YES YES I SEE YOU HAVE BEEN DISCUSSING ECONOMICS WITH BERNIE MADDOF? HE DID NOT WANT ANY ONE LOOKING OVER HIS SHOULDER, HE KNEW HOW TO SPEND HIS MONEY TOO.

CROOKS THIEVES, LIARS, SNAKE OIL SALESMEN, ALL REPUBLICAN! THE ONLY VALUE THE UNDERSTAND IS GREED, I ME MINE!

  • @luckey313

Americans know how to spend their money? Better than anyone? I take it you never worked in service or retail.

  • @luckey313 It is a shame that your comment only got 12 thumbs up while the marxist one above saying lower taxes means deppression gets 61 thumbs up. I guess liberals like giving their money to the gubbermint.

  • @luckey313 you are a dope. Higher taxes on the wealthy = more investment in businesses. Its pretty simple. Stop allowing yourself to be blackmailed by the investor class. The buy /sell traitors are only interested in $. They have in fact already sold your and your children s future to the highest bidder.Try standing with your working class brothers and sisters. Protect your future, your environment and and your health. Those things are not for sale

  • @luckey313 Looked up the highest marginal tax rates allowed year by year. Right before the Great Depression. it was at 24-25% From 1945-1965 it was at 77-91%. Since 1913 the lower the tax rates the worse our country did. When it was higher. We did better. Reagan started the National debt after a 50 year low.

  • @jrwel14 Kennedy cut taxes in '61 and the economy strengthened. You also can't compare 77-91% tax rates in the 40's and 50's with tax rates now. You are comparing apples and oranges because our tax codes have been altered so much. As taxes were cut tax laws were changed to compensate, that is why you see an increased revenue with a decreased tax rate on many occasions.

  • @baumusc Kennedy.yea a Democrat. The last time the GOP balanced the budget was in 1956. With 91% tax rates. Tax raetes now? In 1987 the tax rates were severely cut. Then we had Black Monday. And, in 1988-1989 the taxrates were at 28%. The Recession. Now, in this Recession. The tax rates are at 35% nice try.

  • @jrwel14 I don't think you understood what I was saying. First of all you are trying to make a connection between tax cuts and recessions. That is really reaching as recessions occur whether there are tax cuts or not. We have a recession every 5-8 years because the economy is cyclic. Tax cuts are used as a method to get us out of recessions once they have occurred. Carter for instance never cut taxes and we still dipped into a deep recession.

  • @jrwel14 My point is that you cannot compare tax rates from 1950 with tax rates from today. 70% tax rates in the 60's cannot be directly compared to 35% tax rates today. Why? Because of the multiple tax reforms and changes to tax laws over those years. Apples and oranges. If you knew anything about tax law you would see that.

  • @baumusc So tax rates now because of Bush, 35%. The 3rd lowest . Only the years leading to the Depression at 24-25% and the few years after Black Monday and leading to the Recession of the early 90s at 28% were lower. So, why are we in a Recession that started with Bush and his 35% rates. You people think we should be doing great with such low rates. Why are we now doing more like the Depression and the earlier recession. If, these low rates are Magical ?

  • @jrwel14 We just simply put the wrong peole in office. Bush didn't get it done, because for two reasons, he didn't have time to solve the issue considering this mess began latre in his term and 2 he had a pain in the butt liberal congress that wouldn't pass any of his ideas. Obama came in and just made it worse. If this happened earlier with a conservative congress this would have been solved much quicker and with less pain.

  • @jsnthompson4 Doubt that. Bush had 2 full terms. Last time the conservatives had a balanced budget was in the 1950s with Eisenhower and with 91% tax rates. Bush took a suplus from Clinton and turned it into a huge debt. "the Bush administration has transformed, according to the Congressional Budget Office, a ten-year projected surplus of $5.6 trillion to a deficit of $4.4 trillion: a turnaround of $10 trillion in roughly 32 months"

  • @jrwel14

Doesn't you saying we had a 'surplus' admit that Clinton OVERTAXED the the folks who actually pay taxes? Any ass could have done a good job with the economy during the 90's. jrwel14 did you buy a cell phone and maybe a home computer during the Clinton presidency?

Question to you jrwel14, specifically, which Clinton policy led to the robust economy in the 1990's? And if you can name a policy can you tell us why he allowed the recession at the end of his term that led into Bush's?

  • @pitdoug1998 No, it doesn't it showed that Clinton had better policies than the conservatives. Also, didn't buy a cell phone or computer then. Still don't have a cell phone. The recession started under Bush. Just like the Depression started under another Republican president.

  • @jrwel14 So what exactly is the definition of surplus?

Do you really believe the tech-stock boom decline that led to the recession of 1999 started under Bush? Your joking right? Are you hyper-partisan or merely delusional?

I'll try to get you a link. Look I'm a conservative and can't stand Bush but to deny history is not sound logic.

  • @pitdoug1998 Surplus? It's what the conservatives can't acheive. Last time they has a balanced budget was in 1956 With a 91% tax rates and Passing the federal highway act. Conservatives ae more famous for having a deficit. Reagan started one by taking a 50 year low in the debt. Lied by giving the rich tax cuts. Which started the debt to the moon. Look at "presidentialdebt org" The 3 times we have had the lowest tax rates we had a depression or recession. 25% in 1920s, 28% in 1988-90 and now.

  • @jrwel14 Ok, you keep looking at one detail, but then you go ignoring others. It was not Clinton's budget proposal that balanced the budget. His included an additional 200 billion in spending. Granted a Republican is not necessarily conservative, but it was a Republican budget that was passed. Another thing is that Reagan was in a war during that time. Of course you're going to have massive spending. It's a given. Interestingly, there was also a recession around the time of your 91% tax rate.

  • @ShadowofaRoar There was no recession doing the 1950s. Many Republicans would love to go back to the 50s. What war during Reagan? You are refering to Iraq with Bush 1. Reagan cut taxes 1 year. Raised them the next and had to ask Congress to raised the debt ceiling several times. You are ignoring many details and changing others. Vietnam war under Nixon. Next war under Bush 1. No war with Reagan. Hope this helps. 3 times we had the lowest taxes, then Depression or Recession

  • @jrwel14 What war? The Cold War, obviously. Unless, of course, I suddenly slipped into an alternate reality like some science fiction movie.

    Recession of 1953

    Recession of 1958

Name any decade in history, and there's probably a recession or two in it. And when did I mention Nixon, Reagan, or Bush?

  • @ShadowofaRoar Never knew we fought the Russians during the cold war. Thanks! Your statement, "Another thing is that Reagan was in a war at the time." Fighting a war and building arms, there is a difference.

  • @jrwel14 @jrwel14 Being termed the "Cold War" it should have been blatantly obvious. Even if we didn't fight them, it was an arms race. Not fighting doesn't mean it doesn't cost money.

  • @ShadowofaRoar But, it's far cheaper than actually having to fight as in Iraq, isn't it?

  • @jrwel14 I get the gist of what you're trying to say, but clarify.

  • @ShadowofaRoar That fighting a real war is far more costly than building up arms to protect oneself. Replacing lost equiptment , personnel costs more than, just buying so many tanks once, etc. We have bombers from the 1950s.

  • @jrwel14 Yes they are cheaper, but then you criticize Reagan for spending on said arms race.

  • @ShadowofaRoar No, just that people think Reagan did such a good job with the country. He raised taxes 6-8 times. Increased big government more so than most presidents. Had to have the debt ceiling raised several times. Created tax loopholes that help create the Enron fiasco. Nothing against arms race. Just , that it's far cheaper than a real war.

  • @jrwel14 Here's something that the people on the left that's encountered so-far don't seem to know: The right supports tax hikes when the economy's good. I don't know anyone that supports Reagan for tax loopholes. As far as I can tell, Reagan is only supported for his tax cuts with a good economy coming after.

  • @ShadowofaRoar Reagan's good economy? Tax rates 1988 28& 1989 28% 1990 28% Early 1990s, A recession. Just like the last half of the 1920s with 24-25% 1929, A depression. Now, at the third lowest rates with 35%, a Recession.

  • @jrwel14 The Depression happened because the Federal Reserve manipulated interest rates. In fact, none of the economic downturns you named were caused at all by low tax rates. The recession that happened under Carter to Reagan was, again, by the Federal Reserve. This time was because Government had Fannie and Freddie buy bad mortgages from banks as a requirement to boost home ownership. In fact, during the 1920s depression, tax cuts were slashed. It recovered the next year.

  • @ShadowofaRoar You go on believing all that. Believe this, too. Since it's a fact."But today, thanks to tax cuts and massively increased military spending, the Bush administration has transformed, according to the Congressional Budget Office, a ten-year projected surplus of $5.6 trillion to a deficit of $4.4 trillion: a turnaround of $10 trillion in roughly 32 months." PART A

  • @jrwel14 PART B Believe this too. Also a fact. "Even in the Robber Baron era, the gap between the rich and the rest of us wasn’t this wide. Tax rates on the very wealthy have never been lower. Bush 1 called Reagan's economics VOODOO ecomomics. That it wouldn't help jobs or the economy. He was right.

  • @jrwel14 Oh, yes, and those regulations you set to help this gap is totally working. It's not. Neither have any of the other regulations that you set to fix anything.

  • @ShadowofaRoar The not being regulated. Got us lead in toys, the Gulf oil spill and the finacial fiasco.

  • @jrwel14 And somehow, even with regulations, we still have them. Oil spills are bound to happen. 1 rig in 3000 failure followed by poor response, you think it's the end of the world and think it should be outlawed. In case you're unable to notice, oil spills happen to hit oil companies, too.

Go ahead and explain to me how tax cuts causes recessions.

  • @ShadowofaRoar So, no regultions have more spills! "In those years where the top tax rate was 70% or above, GDP growth averaged 9.0% and job growth averaged 2.6%. Conversely, in those years where the tax rate was 40% or below, GDP growth was an anemic 4.4% and job growth was… well actually there was no job growth. The average for the 37 years where top tax rates were the lowest, job growth averaged zero!"

  • @jrwel14 No regulations = have more spills? So just let an expensive piece of machinery bust and set up another one somewhere else, or just keep fixing it? You obviously have a static thought process, which couldn't be more obvious since you've been unable distinguish correlation from causation. GDP is the exchange of money in the economy, which includes government, so it holds little value in terms of activity. Oh, and let's not forget when JKF cut taxes from 90% to 70%. There's your growth.

  • @ShadowofaRoar But , JFK cutting from 90% to 70% . Question, how much more is that 70% then, from our 35% now? Taxes can be too low, ya know? Maybe you don't I agree with regulations. It keeps companies honest. At least hold them accountable when they cut corners to save money.

  • @jrwel14 And taxes can be too high, it's a two-way street with a dead drop at too high, since there's a little thing called "tax shelters". Not to mention we're a global economy competing for business. Do we hold politicians accountable for? Hardly. They lose their seat, but they keep the money they absconded. When businesses cut corners, they get hit directly. A cheaply build item will not sell if there's a similar, better item on the same shelf.

  • @jrwel14 You need to learn that correlation does not equal causation. Military spending does not increase just because taxes went down. Here's a little fact that you missed: Bush's tax cuts raised federal revenue by 40%, only for congress to raise their spending by 60%.

  • @jrwel14 Two problems with your "keeping them honest" theory.

    1. They find loopholes

    2. Some regulations are caused because some dishonest company lobbied for them to give them an edge.

  • @ShadowofaRoar I agree. Just don't agree with conservatives who want to get rid of as many regs as they can.

  • @poindexterwitkowsky That may be so but thats only a piece of the puzzle and you give what looks like a simple answer to a seriously complicated issue.

With our unemployment at 10% (again) I fail to see how taxing those who pay taxes anymore will help us with governments unchecked growth and consumption, your figures bank on the gov doing the right thing instead of selling out our country and expanding the problem.

  • @poindexterwitkowsky to quote what liberals say to Bible Thumpers, "were is your proof". The Great Depression was caused by people buying products on credit, mhmm kind of like our loans falling through. Also with other factors. Presumably, all of this took place a decade before the Great Depression. Clinton was the man in charge a decade before the recession started. I believe he raised taxes on us Modern Americans and let the big corporations get a way with billions through NAFTA. Look it up.

  • @poindexterwitkowsky you must have had all your socialist friends give this one the thumbs up.

  • @poindexterwitkowsky absolutely absurd. We are a spending society, we spend rather then save. The economy "GDP" is made up of 2/3rds consumer SPENDING!! The more the government takes in taxes, THE LESS MONEY PEOPLE HAVE TO CIRCULATE THROUGHOUT THE ECONOMY thus CONTRADICTING GDP GROWTH.

  • @poindexterwitkowsky Poindexter is a fitting user name for you, doofus.

  • @poindexterwitkowsky Tell that to Greece....

  • @poindexterwitkowsky

Typical liberal hypocracy; always trying to get on the government dole while spouting every thing they can to persuade others to foot the bill. They will even see it done at the end of a gun if they feel safe in their own skin while condoning it. That is what greed looks like class. Selfish. Evil.

  • @poindexterwitkowsky You're joking, right?

  • @poindexterwitkowsky You must have been dropped on your head as a child.

  • @poindexterwitkowsky You are mislead!!!!!
