  • "David Lynchean fever dream on Beatrix Potter terrain..." Yep, that's pretty spot-on. Not a rip off of Lynch; This director's vision is similarly twisted but is uniquely their own. If you have a brain for art films, watch this one. It's not so much entertaining as it is captivating. Even the 'slow' bits and the creepy psycho-sexual bits are still beautiful to watch because the stop-animation is good. Not for kids, natch! This film might've been bit better if it hadn't been labored over so long.

  • Looks incredibly creepy, in a beautiful way...

  • Magical work, so inspiring!

  • I saw it and had to buy it.

    AMAZING & BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!

  • I just stopped by to say - I love this film. It's wonderful.

  • Thank you Ms Cegavske for making this film. We're really looking forward to Seed in the Sand!

  • Based on this trailer alone I went ahead and bought the DVD from Amazon. Blood Tea and Red String is unlike anything else I've ever seen. A beautiful, haunting, unsettling film. I have watched it several times already. If you like The Brothers Quay then get yourself a copy of Blood Tea and Red String.

  • This is an amazing work of art, I highly recommend purchasing this DVD .

Some of the best stop-motion work that's ever been done...every frame a is a masterpiece.

  • I just saw this movie. It's amazing. Christiane Cegavske created a wonderful world, and this movie drags you right into it.

  • Saw that film right now this Night.

First time it was on TV here in germany, and... wow...

Amazing. Too bad I got home to late to watch the whole movie.

No matter. I will get this film... and some other night when I've again drunk a little bit red wine in moonlight like this time I will watch it again.

    Beautiful movie.

  • I saw it just a few minutes ago in TV on 3sat (a german TV channel)... it's just an amazing movie... but I missed the start of the movie :( so first I wasn't understanding what this was about :P

  • @Carmustin

hättest nur kurz in teletext schauen müssen, ich hatte auch den anfang verpasst. geiler film.

  • Why am I reminded of the doctor who stole the girls body and kept wiring it together, and insurted a vaginal tube to have sex with the corpse.........(that really did happen,in florida back in 30-50s time area i think)

  • A timeless masterpiece - one of the greatest stop-motion films ever made. Cegavske has earned a proud place in the pantheon of the greats.

  • watched this last night. thank you thank you thank you Christiane Cegavske. thank you.

  • Wow this tells quite a story.....

  • this is really creepy...

  • I saw it a while back... it's beautiful... i can't wait to purchase it. Sigh...

  • For some reason, my last comment on having finally got the dvd has been thumbed as 'negative': despite the fact I have said nothing negative in it.

    Oh dear.

Anyway, beautiful piece of art, cinema, and craftsmanship!

  • I have got to get my hands on this! It looks fantastic!

  • Love the trailer. But who is playing the flute? The music in this clip is just magical....

  • The genius behind the soundtrack is Mark Growden, the sexiest mofo on the West Coast.

  • @leandrosandreas Mark Growden wrote it and played it (:

  • I saw this movie three years ago in a film festival and was amazed on how touching it was. Beautifull film.

  • i bought it one year ago without knowing the whole thing it just seemed so magical.

Then i watched and fell in love.

    this is true magic.

  • Ah, don't worry about that loser's comments. He/she probably thinks G.I. Joe is the pinnacle of artistic cinema achievement. This is a beautiful film.

  • I have finally FINALLY got this on DVD, I havn't had time to finish it yet though :( I got interupted.

The music is SO great...specially the whiet mice music...WOOT

  • I will never sleep again

  • LMAO ZOO

  • for some reason this depresses me greatly. i think i need a bath

  • This looks amazing... very eery, but in a beautiful way.

It looks like a lot of effort has been put into it, and the music is beautiful. I also like the way its been described as a fairytale for adults, I dont think adults are given fairytales anymore. And as Im becoming more of an adult, I dont want to miss out on them, they give me hope.

I think this looks, just, gorgeous.

  • Beautiful. WHAT IS THE MUSIC??

  • Lovely. beyond words.

  • Ah! This is better than, uh, well, lot's of things!!! Ya' dig?

  • i loved it

  • muy pero muy bueno esta de pelos

    very very good

  • okay i dont want to be classified as a hater

but this movie is really creepy!

i saw it today at school and it was..intense..

    whats it about?

  • do you shoot with natural grass? I'm doing a film with 90% ouside, looking for some advice on scenery options

    (trees, grass, rocks, flowers, etc)

  • i think in the commentary, she said she added something to the artificial blood. i can't remember. maybe you should watch the movie with the commentary :D

  • uh...sure? it's just artificial blood. colored glycerin...ok haha :D

  • the director said she just used that fake blood stuff. like the ones people use during halloween

  • Saw this at the Green Man Festival in August. Amazing!

  • this movie is creppy as hell, If your into something out of the norm you might like it but it tends to be a bit boring at times

  • I've seen this movie yesterday. Simply wonderful.

  • That was bloody creepy

  • This looks so interesting :)

I want to see it! ^_^

    I love stop motion.

I really like what I've seen of Jan Svankmajer's work, and this makes me think of a few of his animations! :)

  • I want to see this film so much!

  • Stop motion officially owns CGI. You can tell how much care and devotion has been put into the making of this film. Most CGIs are just flashy colourful toy advertisements.

    I love that skull-crow thing it's so lovely! I want one ;__;

  • How beautiful!

  • that's awesome...i love stop motion.

  • so cult...

Maybe it is masterpiece but it really scared me so much...

  • The 16mm print will be screening in Portland, OR on Valentine's Day 2008

  • Interesting!

  • really a masterpiece!

  • this IS my favorite movie in the whole world. I bought it and have had 2 blood tea and red string viewing parties so far..........

  • saw it when Ms. Cegavske brought it to LA last spring. now i own it on DVD. totally AMAZING and well crafted. if you dont understand it, then you should go back to watching reality televsion or hollywood "blockbusters".

  • it makes me want to puke... no offense although most animated things do.

  • Same here. All the good stop motion movies have an eerie feel to them, but I still enjoy them.

  • I also dont like the wallace and gromit animtions... they make make me sick... but I could never do it so I think its cool.. I just cant watch them.

The only kind I can are the ones tim burton makes.

  • exactly.

  • its really good, what didnt you like about it?

  • people!people! if you absolutely want to see this film or if you missed it (like I did) you can always buy it on Amazon. com...It's worth it!
